"Becoming Potatoes" is the debut single and first studio release by co-ed group DREAMERZ. It was released on August 17, 2022, through Starfall Entertainment, as the lead single for their debut extended play S-IGN (2022). Despite receiving a successful amount of support from fans, it would later become a more polarizing response as they deemed it "out of place" compared to later releases.

"SO WHAT'S IT ABOUT?"

This single explores the title phrase (becoming potatoes) which typically means the loss of ambition, intelligence, or energy which devolves into a full and inactive state. It is an idiom used to describe someone who has surrendered to laziness or lack of purpose, like a vegetable.

The song has been described to be an electro-swing track with "fast paced rhythms and distinct jazz tones"

"HOW DOES IT CONNECT TO THEIR STORY?"

Because the group is based on the foundation of following your dreams - every dream has to be faced with some reality. Becoming Potatoes reflects the critical opinions of adults towards teens who have "unrealistic" wants for a career, often calling it unstable. This especially applies to the KPOP scene because of its competitive nature.

When adults usually mention these claims, it can usually cause second thoughts, doubts, and even sadness because that adult doesn't believe they could do something which in this case leads to a gradual loss of ambition and a lack of purpose.
