’ ah ! ’ what a good dog ! ume is eager to pet , cooing at the pupper as he runs fingers through fur , scratching in all the best spots on a dog that he can remember. dragon has always been drawn to animals , & being able to pet them always made him happy. however , upon a glance up to owner , smile falls from his lips. ume doesn’t entirely stop petting , but it’s definitely slower paced. ‘ is everything alright ? you seem upset. ’ or that’s just the other’s regular face.

      AN  INTERNAL  SIGH     ———     he  had  lost  count  of   how       many   times   he   had   been   asked   the   same   question. 

      “     i’m   fine,     ”     he   mutters,     secretly   praying   that   he’d       believe   him   and   go   back   to   fawning   over   his   dog.     a       hand   lifts   up   to   wave   in   a   dismissal   manner,     as   if   he       holds   no   interest   in   talking   about   himself.     (     and   in   all       honesty,     he   doesn’t.     )      

      “     you   seem   to   be   fond   of   animals,     no  ?     ”

     the little one is unable to help but gaze up to the former as he studies their appearance  —  kinu appears to be returning the gesture , feeling hints of intimidation from the drastic difference in height , but mostly meek in the presence of someone they found  …  attractive .

     reality seems to be a pinch clouded for a moment , but the extension of his hand brings them back .   a visible flush of their cheeks , & the way they feel so flustered whilst partaking in the hand shake , are all factors that make it apparent embarrassment has a hold upon them , now the two are truly interacting with one another .     ❝  do you like the ocean , carnival rides , or shopping districts more ?  ❞     despite the ball being tossed to them , there’s a clear indication kinu’s ensuring goro will enjoy himself , too .

      GORO   NOTICES   THEIR   FLUSHED   CHEEKS     ———       of   course   he   does.     anyone   within   a   good   10   meter       radius   could   spot   the   red   dusting   their   face;     of   course,       he   doesn’t   bring   it   up,   though. 

      upon   being   given   a   decision,     he   only   blinks.     GORO       was   not   one   to   ENJOY   choosing   things.

NORMALLY      there’d  be  someone  to  stop  her,      a  voice  of  now  equally  drunk      &.      lost  reason.      Her  arms  loosen  around  his  waist  as  she  moves  to  lean  on  him      /      it’s  hard  to  stand,      her  heels  are  stupid        (      who’s  idea  were  they      ?      )      &.      starting  to  make  her  feet  sore.      A  DRUNKEN      giggle  leaves  her  lips  covered  in  faint  red  lipstic.        She’s  not  listening  to  him,        she  isn’t  gonna  listen  at  all  probably        ———        that’s  just  how  a  drunken  Kio  behaves.

     more time is spent mentally calming their anxiety & simultaneously pumping themselves up  —  not terrified to the point of social ineptness , but not acting out of the ordinary either .   kinu catches themselves almost spacing out in the midst of focusing on calming down , having gone through the cycle repetitively , until  —

     his greeting catches their attention immediately , but is thankful to not be spooked .   canting their head up to him slowly , carefully exhaling their nervousness away .     ❝  kinu  …  ?   yes , that is me .   goro , right  …  ?  ❞

      AN   ELONGATED   HUM     ———     young   man   takes   a       good   second   to   take   a   proper   look   at   his   supposed      ‘     blind   date     ’.     she   was   shorter   than  him     ———       what   people   would   call   petite.

      GORO   doesn’t   answer;      only   nods.      hand   slips   out       of   his   pockets   and   stretches   out   in   front   of   her,        awaiting   a   handshake     (     or   perhaps   that   was   too       FORMAL   for   the   situation  ?      though,   a   tiny   voice   in       his   mind   was   pressing   him   to   be   a   gentleman     ).

’ can i ? ’ the question is returned almost gleefully , though he makes no moves to pet the dog just yet. after all , just because someone was asking if he wanted to , doesn’t mean it was permission. so ume will wait patiently to be told he could , or couldn’t , but he does anything. after all , he wouldn’t want to upset the dog.

      “     yeah,     go   ahead.     ”

      so   his   dog   gets   free   headpats   from   strangers  and   he          doesn’t  ?     homophobic.     racist.     terrible.

      pushing   his   thoughts   aside,     his   focus   returns   back  to       said   canine   and   its   ANNOYINGLY   adorable   look   on   its        face.      a   young   SAMOYED   puppy     ———     far   more       sociable   and   lively   than   his   owner.
