a smile on his face, he opened one of his drawers and pulled out a bottle of painkillers. considering everything that’s changed, he’s at least happy that there are some things that even victor von doom can’t live without—like over-the-counter medication. “one pill should do but you’re free to take more if you need more,” he said as he offered the bottle to the woman. “ah, i may have missed the office more than usual. definitely better than the dinosaurs earlier on.” he leaned back on his chair and although not the most comfortable, he at least had something to sit on. “looks like we’ve got two cases involving the spiderkids today.”
“i’ll take an office or a court over dinosaurs any day,” karen replied as she took the bottle, twisting it open and letting a few pills spill into her hand. taking two, she downs it with a sip of coffee. “spiderkids? did i hear that right?” she asked, laughing softly. “what’s going on with them? is there some kind of run down on their situation? or is it like a separate situation?” she asks in between sips of her coffee. “sorry, lots of questions off the bat. still, it’s nice to be back. i only wish we had foggy here too.”
stephen wasn’t one for parties unless they were based around himself. unfortunately for him and the entirety of the forced residents of this hellscape, it wasn’t about him, but rather about… doom. the one good and shiny thing was tony was out of the doomgeons and there was what appeared to be free food and beverages. plus stephen could dress up as gandalf. the only actual noteworthy fictional sorcerer in his book. turning sharply, he accidentally hit someone with his walking stick and grimaced before shoving a piece of cheese in his mouth, “i’m so sorry, i have to get used to using this thing, are you alright?”
“hey!” karen exclaims, the staff having just narrowly missed her as she’d been quick to duck and avoid it. “clearly. i take it you don’t make it a habit to nearly whack people with this... large stick thing?” she asked, raising a brow as the great dane at her feet said ‘reah’ in response. her gaze then shifts to give the man a once over, taking in his costume before she looked back over at him. “so... you’re supposed to be some kind of wizard, right? does this stick hold some importance or is it like, just for walking? i gotta say, it’s probably one of the more convincing wizard costumes i’ve seen over the years.”

karen’s gaze quickly shifts to the person in question that rj had noted had a particularly large weapon. “just keep walking,” she replies, gesturing for the younger to follow her. “are you afraid of it? the office i work at, it’s just up ahead. you can stay there until it’s gone,” she offered, giving him a soft smile before leading him to the law office and holding the door open. “what’s your name?” she asked, raising a brow. “i’m karen.”
🥀 ❝ glad i thought to pack painkillers. ❞ ! ⦁ prompt from @murdcksmatthew
karen laughed softly in response to matt’s comment, grinning over at him. “you got any to spare?” she raised a brow. “i feel like these headaches are becoming an everyday thing. they’re either getting worse or i’m just tired. maybe both.” she rubbed her temples for a moment before picking up her coffee mug to take a sip. “i don’t hate being back in an office, though. it’s almost like old times.”

“definitely,” karen replied as she looked up at the castle, her arms wrapped around herself protectively. she was working as a paralegal here, but her days as a reporter weren’t that far behind her and she felt she was still always listening -- observing. perhaps those were traits she got used to while working for the bulletin that wouldn’t go away. “i’d say that’s a bit of an understatement. what do you think about this guy?” she asked, raising a brow.
“I can’t stand it when people prattle on incessantly.”
“I should’ve packed my machete.”
“Hash your shit out on your own time, okay?”
“He’s got a huge gun, holy shit.”
“Know of any selfish dickheads who might be in need of a partner?”
“I understand taking the moral high ground and that’s great, it really is. But if we could just––”
“Did you see his face?”
“There are just some things you gotta do. Doesn’t mean you have to like it.”
“It’s all in the branding, you just have to be creative.”
“Bananas are now the official currency here.”
“That’s a really weird opportunity to have.”
“I mean, this’ll hide the bloodstains.”
“Ugh, that’s disgusting.”
“This looks too official considering the nonsense within.”
“I can’t wait to see the rest of it.”
“Well, facts don’t matter then.”
“The look of this building is so imposing.”
“I’m surprised you’re conscious right now.”
“There’s a chance that tonight is the night you see me die on camera.”
“You have gotta be fucking kidding me dude.”
“’Trebuchet’. Can’t you just say ‘catapult’ like a normal person?”
“None of this could have possibly gone unnoticed.”
“Glad I thought to pack painkillers.”

THE QUESTIONNAIRE
YOUR CHARACTER IS NOW LIVING IN DOOMSTADT, WHAT OCCUPATION HAVE THEY TAKEN UP?
karen is working as a paralegal at the law firm, given her background in legal work back home in new york with the law firm nelson & murdock. she was also apart of the firm nelson, murdock & page, but that firm was short lived given the whole savage lands and now doomstadt stuff.
IS YOUR CHARACTER COMFORTABLE ENOUGH LIVING IN LATVERIA? OR DO THEY WANT TO JOIN THE RUMORED RESISTANCE?
comfortable? no, definitely not. she misses new york -- hell’s kitchen -- her friends and family, even if her father wants nothing to do with her. hell’s kitchen was her home, and she’ll always miss it. she would be open to joining the resistance, but isn’t sure where there is to go from here given that the rest of the planet is... well, gone.
IS DOCTOR VICTOR VON DOOM NOT THE MOST WONDERFUL AND LOVING LEADER OUT THERE? YES? OR YES BUT WITH MORE VIGOR?
uh... yes?
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
karen page was born in fagan corners, vermont to paxton & penelope page. she was the older sister to kevin page.
her family owned a diner called penny’s place, and when her mother died of cancer, karen postponed going to college, knowing her brother and father wouldn’t be able to run it on their own
despite this, she grew bored of the small town life and started selling (and occasionally using) drugs to students with her boyfriend at the time, todd
one day, karen gets in an argument with her father, paxton, and runs off with todd. when they get to the trailer that todd lives in, they find that kevin is burning it down. todd attacks kevin, and karen shoots todd with his own gun to stop him. she quickly drives kevin away, but crashes, killing kevin.
the local police chief covered up karen’s involvement, and her father paxton asks her to leave, because he blames her for the death of her brother.
in the beginning of daredevil s1, karen is falsely accused of murdering a former co-worker in union allied construction after she had found a file of evidence of money laundering schemes. she later signed a NDA and for awhile worked as a secretary/paralegal to nelson & murdock
when she learned wilson fisk was behind her being accused of murder, she became angry, desperately wanting to take him down and help put him behind bars
that ultimately worked out, as nelson & murdock were the prosecution attorneys at that trial and the jury found fisk guilty
though as a result of fisk framing her and trying to have her killed or kidnapped multiple times, she became fearful for her safety at all times, and thus got lessons for shooting a gun and a licence to carry one. she has a small gun in her purse at all times
later, when frank castle got caught after murdering a crap ton of gang members, karen grew close to him and nelson & murdock defended him, but after an outburst from frank, the jury ultimately found him guilty and he went to prison
only for him to escape and be presumed dead, but she knows he’s not dead. she tried to keep in touch with him as much as he would allow
she’s always believed that frank is a good person. like, she’ll go to her death bed defending this man. she knows he’s not perfect and she knows he’s killed people, but she just... she thinks what happened to him is a tragedy and he deserves better
she knows matt is daredevil and worries a lot about him. at first was angry matt and foggy kept it from her, but she isn’t really angry anymore, just worried, because she wants matt to be safe
she’s got a tendency to get herself into situations that put her in danger -- she’s an act first, think later kind of person and that fucks her over a lot.
a lot has happened in 3 seasons of daredevil, 1 season of defenders and 2 seasons of the punisher and my brain is? the worst? so i can’t possibly try to explain everything but here’s my babey
