“…oh, are you really trying to counter my logic, Kay Faraday?” Edgeworth smirked. “You still have a long way to go before your arguments can match some of the tough ones you’ve seen me face.” Cue Miles Edgeworth’s trademark shrug. “I never said he himself was messy, and although he has an absolutely bizarre order of things around the office, he knows when even the slightest thing is out-of-place. Maya can attest to that. Lacking that advance knowledge, that puts you at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to cleanup, doesn’t it?”
“As for the other part of that…true you have snuck into my office…but whoever said you weren’t caught or noticed, Kay?” The prosecutor wagged his finger and tsked again. “Detective Gumshoe keeps a close eye on my office daily, and just because I never said anything about you snooping through my files right in front of me didn’t mean I didn’t notice. Besides, getting Detective Gumshoe to go with you so that the night security guard would trust him enough to open my office for you is hardly the expert approach of a thief, now is it? You didn’t really expect Gumshoe not to keep me informed, did you?”
The Thief just stood there, her mouth wide open and simply speechless. Edgeworth just knocked back her arguments, and her only ones too. Kay pouted and looked to the side, almost feeling that she’s just gotten ratted out by Gummy and Edgeworth for stealing the truth.
“Boo. You’re so cruel, Mr. Edgeworth! Using Gummy to rat me out! I-I don’t ask him to help, h-he just always pop up when I enter! Why must you be so mean to your assistant thief! W-Well, y-you’re a meanie, a-and it suits because you’re so edgy!”
“Now now, Kay…” Edgeworth shrugged again, offering a sly smile, “…does it really devastate you so much that help from your friends would be a good thing for the master thief Yatagarasu? Your father never flew alone, and I see no reason for you to do so either, Kay Faraday. You may be the sole heir to the title, but just as you aided me in my own investigations…you must allow for us to aid in your search for the truth.”
Miles moved over to Kay, gently placing a hand upon her shoulder. “If it makes you feel any better, however, Detective Gumshoe had no intention of informing me about that. He just blurted it out as he is so prone to doing with many things, it would seem. You know how he is.”
