Cassie Blake had never known her father, her mother had never spoken about him not even when the blonde haired sixteen year old girl had asked her, but she was content with just having her mother as her only family. She didn’t miss her father, how could she miss someone she’d never known nor met? So instead of dwelling on the fact that she’d never met her father she’d make him up, and imaginary father if you will, to keep her company, that soon stopped as she got older, becoming more independent. It was when she became sixteen that her life turned upside down, her mother was killed in a house fire, but Cassie had her suspicions her mother had always been careful so how the hell did she set her house on fire whilst cooking? It was beyond Cassie but she couldn’t really change the polices mind, so it was then decided that she should go live with her only other living relative her grandmother in Chance Harbor. This meant she’d have to pack up and move, leave all her memories behind, her childhood memories, her friends, her school, she was less than pleased that all this was happening.
Chance Harbor was beautiful, it was breath taking but it wasn’t home, sure Cassie would probably come to like it but for now it was foreign and alien to her, Cassie’s grandmother welcomed her with open arms, but Cassie still felt… lost. She knew nothing about place, she’d have to integrate into this new town which would be hard enough without the baggage of her mother’s death but she’d have to deal with it, that’s what she told herself, but of course she wasn’t dealing with it. It was even worse when her grandmother took her out into town, and everyone commented on how sad it was that her mother had died or that she looked exactly like her mother at her age, Cassie would say thank you or smile and just keep quiet and let her mother talk for her.
Cassie tried her hardest to blend in, in her new school, hiding from others and not making a spectacle of herself, she didn’t want or need friends, she had friends they were just in another state, so her hopes were crushed when some kids from different families took interest in her far too much interest for her liking they would not leave her alone and it was getting on her last never. Slamming her locker door shut she could see one of the boys looking at her, lowering her head she walked off to class.
