seulgi already knows she has the mood. she has been told plenty of times during her life.
the mood being one that athletes usually entranced themselves whenever competition season rolls in the corner. most develop it once they are set in an ambiance where they decide to push their energy solely in the game. but unlike those who experienced such, the female already carried the emotional aspect within her blood since she sprouted into the kang household. competition breathed down her nape when she was five and pushed her to be driven when she was six.
thus, her ambition made her stack trophies in the white shelves that pushed her boundaries. the more trophies she saw, the more her mood turned her hostile. but, once seeing such mood cripple down her relationships where bonds broke made seulgi forcefully separate herself from that mindset. thus, she learnt to make a gap between her career and her social life.
despite seulgi prevailed to do such, her actions kept turning to a repertoire cycle. the athlete wasn’t able to distinguish her own moods when training season started. with 2,100 arrows flying in the archery compound per day, the female’s words came to extinguish and lessen her will to socialize. with an iron-forged routine and will made her a known and now formidable player in the archery community. so, it was no surprise when strangers praised her in the hallway, her name lingering in their mouths longer than it should.
exhaustion crumbles her limbs as she walks out her dorm and straps her bag. her gaze turns to watch, the light flickering against it. but, a smile blooms once noticing that she had time to run down for a snack. munching down an apple, seulgi already turns towards her compound before stumbling a looming male figure. her head tilts sideways, eyebrows furrowing. she ponders if the other was waiting for someone, her feet were already approaching him.
“excuse me,” seulgi calls, curiosity smearing down her features. “are you searching for someone or writing gossip? because if so, the male team is funner. they still giggle about manhood.”
Psychology is a tricky field to conduct research in. There were various reasons a study could head south. See, humans are a species that love to lie quite a lot, especially when placed on observation. If they are consciously aware of being watched, it destroys the data essentially as the humans in question would act favorably to the observer rather than their natural selves. Why was this topic brought up so suddenly? It’s because of the fact that Namjoon had to choose an important decision. Does he risk his research on Seulgi going down the drain or does he go against the ethical guidelines and lie to the other?
Negative impressions lasted longer than good ones. So he believed it was best to tell the truth. The distance was closing off and as if this was a timed event, the male instantly shows courtesy towards the other. A bow of greeting and respect is given as he decides to state his purpose, the note pad placed back within the inner pocket of his jacket but the ballpoint pen still remained in his hand as he offers her his experiment’s information.
“I’ve been researching athletes for a physiological study. Since it was impractical to use myself, I figured it was best to gather as much data from well known stars on campus.“
Namjoon explains the situation as thoroughly as he could. He didn’t want one wrong phrase to easily cause alarm or throw off the other. It has happened quite a bit in his freshman year and he didn’t want another incident to occur. Then again he’s not as oblivious as he was back then. Let’s hope it stays that way.
“I’d like to ask if it’s alright to observe you in your practice, academic, and social environment? It’ll be just as if I wasn’t there. It’ll only be for three or four days maximum. ”
He assures to the female rather quickly on the last part. He knows that there’s a high chance to hear a disagreement but in reality he was just almost close to finishing this research, and now a new curiosity began to form in the back of his mind. All his other researches was conducted without his subjects knowing they were being observed. He would usually tell them afterwards and thinking back on it now, he probably came off creepy with that approach. His hypothesis for this time around would be that it there would be a shift in data, especially if someone knew they were being observed. At the same time there could be the concept that she would be act far different than he had expected. There was no way to know until the opportunity was given towards him.
