Sundance was a dream come true
One month of living in Tokyo. Just got some big career news too. Life’s amazing.
Will be moving to Japan soon.. crazy. Can’t wait to be back.
2025 my year fr. It took a lot of pain and sacrifice to get to this point. And the pain and sacrifice will have to continue to get to where I want to be but I’m so glad a large burden of the past is gone and I’ve made big strides to being happy, healthy and successful.
I’m feeling very blessed that I have a home that’s my own, my work is getting acknowledged, and there is a group of people that I now embrace as family.
I left a large part of my spirit and happiness back in Portland however many years ago. But I luckily pulled through and that spirit is coming back. I think it helps to live in a place that reminds me so much of that.
It’s been about 3-ish months here in NC. A lot of the stress of life has melted away and there’s a lot of clarity and focus on self improvement… finally. Looking forward to building a home and community here for a few years. But also excited about the next chapter that will come quite soon. All the hard work is paying off. I’m literally working on a movie that J***** P****’s company is producing and funding. We’re finally gonna have our movies on the big screen and not be broke anymore 😭
Had an opportunity to move to New York for work… I’m glad it sort of fell apart last minute. It was bittersweet in the moment, having dreamed up the new life you can have when living somewhere new, but all the moments that have happened since wouldn’t have happened. It’s never felt like this before where you start growing roots in a place and it makes it so hard to leave. Good friends and new relationships, memories with the different communities you’re apart of, experiencing things that can only happen here in LA… it was so easy to let go of a place when you’re in your 20s.
I’ll be 33 tomorrow. I keep thinking about how many years left before I move away, but once in awhile the memories made here makes it harder to envision anywhere else. But the rest of the world awaits and I’m not getting any younger.
Sucks looking back and realizing that every serious relationship I’ve had fucked me up both mentally and physically. Body image, self confidence/worth, and guilt tripped to no end. I used to be so comfortable with myself and each person just chipped away at something new every time. Love that. And then I look at myself then vs now and think “What on earth was I thinking? Letting myself be brought down like that?”.
And now I’m just trying to pick up the pieces of myself off the ground and be something/someone again. It’s feeling good but it hurts to fight back so many years of negativity and doubt.
Just like before.
I'm really excited for these inauguration crowd numbers to come in.
Don’t cook the books either Donald. We all know your event was dry. No matter how many times CNN anchors repeat majestic or peaceful transition of power. The world can see America divided and the chaos in the streets. Barack we love you but it would’ve been equally presidential if you would’ve just walked on out while Donald got through that struggle speech trashing your career. The majority knows man, we know you did good. We see it. The majority sees Donald for who he is too. He ain’t slick. And it’s too bad the majority doesn’t count. In any event, a first family that I can relate to will be missed. Really though.

I got to make some color palettes for the best animation studio around, Studio Ghibli, to promote their newest and, sadly, last film When Marnie Was There. They’ve done Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and many other amazing films and are masters at using color.
I am very stoked that the kind people at LOVE featured the palettes as a brief retrospective. Check out their post and read a bit about each palette below.
When Marnie Was There Natural settings are highlighted in both palettes for when Marnie Was There. Each still’s location is vibrantly represented. From the yellows and bright greens in the forest to the bright blues and turquoises of the seascape, there is a clear intention to let the environment take center stage.
Ponyo One of the more boldly colorful and childlike films, Ponyo masterfully combines a multitude of bright colors fitting for its universe. There is also an inherent softness to the colors that helps them all blend together, despite their boldness.
Laputa Castle in the Sky The palette for this still from Castle in the Sky shows a versatile way to paint a night scene. The purple and blue hues are inviting but suggest depth, action and contrast nicely with the characters’ faces. The overall palette communicates night-time without overusing dark colors and blends purple hues effortlessly.
Princess Mononoke Based on primary colors, this still from Princess Mononoke feels bold and eye-catching. By putting the character of San front and center and setting a mood with the fiery bold background, this still effectively communicates emotion through its palette.
Spirited Away Spirited Away carefully combines dark and light hues and a contrast of colors to tell its story. The interior of the train feels cold and foreboding and uses darker tones of bright colors (reds, purples) to give the audience a sense of the unusual. The outside is vibrant and clear, using blue to create a peaceful and bright atmosphere.
Only Yesterday This still from Only Yesterday captures a mood through its use of color. The peaceful and beautiful setting is achieved by combining mostly blues, greens, and yellows in both the field and the sky, unifying the frame and reflecting a sense of peace.
