i know i'm just pissin' in the wind here, but i gotta get this out. artists are given a raw deal nowadays. i understand the ability to connect with an audience and make sales is bigger than ever, but the burden of marketing, photography, sales, management, and publicity all fall on the shoulders of the artist in the 21st century. you might not mind, but i do.
i am no longer making art as a commodity as that fundamentally feeds the machine of capitalism, and i must accept that the only role of artists is just to make art, not to make money or seek fame.
in some times, in some places, art is considered a holy occupation. this is a sentiment that has been fermenting in my guts for a number of years. that art making is a form of worship. the urge to create is a holy one. those of us who feel compelled to create art have some drive to take something inside of us and externalize it into the physical world. it can't just be about ego or legacy or these ridiculous paternalistic notions. maybe it's just some kind of observer paradox in action. you existing alters the universe, and your art is a mark of that alteration. or something.
i only make art that i want to. this means it is not in a way that is easy to sell and i do not really care about selling. i also do not post my art online anymore because the internet is fake and stupid and i am fake and stupid for being here on the internet. and i don't want to make art that is copied by stupid fuckin ai dipshits.
anyway to the zero people that will read this, keep doing your thing.
