The Infinity Q50 comes with a choice of engines, including the 3.0 twin-turbocharged V6 with up to 400bhp. Our hybrid conversions on these have upgraded bearings, a billet compressor wheel and a larger turbine wheel. Testing is yet to be done; we will update you when the results are in.
Our MDX585 GT1749V Hybrid for the 150hp Z19DTH Vauxhall Astra is a big leap forward in power and general performance. This turbo is good for a reliable 250bhp but also comes with a high flow 56mm billet compressor wheel upgrade to help reduce lag.
The VW Amarok 2.0 Bi-Turbo diesel engine is a good performer with its 180bhp but it's not without its problems. A search through forums will reveal several issues, the most common being heavy oil consumption due to wear in the cylinders. Unfortunately, this oil consumption is often mistakenly blamed on the turbochargers, to further complicate matters this wear in the cylinders can also lead to oil contamination which will then cause the bearings in the turbos to fail. At Turbo Dynamics we have a wealth of experience with these turbos and can refurbish them to an as new condition from £195+vat each. We will also diagnose what the cause of the failure most likely was. We also offer an upgrade for those of you looking to reliably increase your power output. The upgrade is to the larger K04 turbo and includes a billet compressor wheel, 360-degree thrust bearing and cut back to the turbine wheel. Prices for the hybrid upgrade start at £395+vat per turbo, depending on the condition of the turbo you supply us.
The McLaren MP4-12C utilises two Mitsubishi turbochargers to help extract around 600bhp from its 3.8 litre V8 engine, though clearly for some people, this is just not enough!
Turbo Dynamics has been working with JM Imports to develop a set of hybrid turbos that should see quite significant power gains once fitted and mapped in. The upgrades include a bespoke Garrett GT29 CHRA fitted with a custom 71mm GTX Gen II based compressor wheel.

The Honda Civic 2.2 CDTi is a great car with a cracking diesel engine that puts out nearly 140bhp and 251lb/ft of torque while still managing over 60mpg on a sensible journey.A stage 1 remap on these engines will take you to around 190bhp and 250lb/ft, add one of our MDX554 stage 1 hybrid turbos and a further remap and you could be looking at 240bhp! The earlier 2.0 tdci Ford Kuga, Mondeo, Focus and S-Max all shared the same engine and Garrett turbocharger. We offer a hybrid performance upgrade on these which, along with a good remap and supporting mods, should see you comfortably past 200bhp yet still give you great response and reliability. The new Toyota A90 Supra is powered by a 3.0 straight-six with a single BorgWarner turbocharger which produces 335bhp from the factory.Turbo Dynamics in partnership with Whifbitz have produced a hybrid turbo upgrade which should achieve around 600bhp without changing the daily driving characteristics of the car too much.We will keep you posted on the results but if you are interested in upgrading your Toyota Supra’s turbocharger, then give Whifbitz or us a call for further details.
