Reported Past Tense (Geçmiş Zaman)
Before, i have explained to you about Reguler Geçmiş Zaman (Past Tense).
But in Turkish language itself, there are two types of Geçmiş Zaman (Past Tense).
1. Reguler Geçmiş Zaman (-di, -dı, -du, -dü)
2. Reported Geçmiş Zaman (miş/mış/muş/müş)
The different is
1. Reguler Geçmiş Zaman is used to talk about a completed action/event/incident in a time before now. And its really done.
For example;
a. Geçen hafta, pardesüyü giydim.
(Last week, I wore pardesü.)
Pardesü, is kind of turkish people clothes for women.
2. Reported Geçmiş Zaman is used to talk about a completed action/event/incident in a time before now. But this is just a reported, because you really don’t know the fact, or you don’t see it by yourself/ your own eyes.
For example;
b. Hakan söyledi, geçen hafta sen pardesüyü giymişsin.
(Hakan told me that last week you wore pardesü.)
This is just a reported, because Hakan is the only one person who saw you
at that time not me/her/someone, whether this is true action/event/incident
or not.)

Don’t forget in Reported Past tense we must attach one of this (miş/mış/muş/müş ). And it depends on the last vowel is used of the verb stem/verb root.
Personal pronouns suffixes
Ben : -im, -ım, -um, -üm
Sen : -sin, -sın, -sun, -sün
O : -
Biz : -iz, -ız, -uz, -üz
Siz : -niz, -nız, -nuz, -nüz
Onlar : -lar/-ler
1.Giymek: to wear
Verb root/stem :Giy
Past tense of wear : wore
Ben giymişim (I wore)
Sen giymişsin (You wore)
O giymiş (She/He/It wore)
Biz giymişiz (We wore)
Siz giymişsiniz (You wore)
Onlar giymişler (They wore)
For the negative suffix; -ma-/-me-
1.Giymek: to wear
Verb root/stem :Giy
Past tense of don’t wear : didn’t wear
Ben giymemişim (I didn’t wear)
Sen giymemişsin (You didn’t wear)
O giymemiş (She/He/It didn’t wear)
Biz giymemişiz (We didn’t wear)
Siz giymemişsiniz (You didn’t wear)
Onlar giymemişler (They didn’t wear)
Question Positive Form (?+)
1. Giymek : to wear

Past tense of wear : wore
Ben giymiş miyim? (Did I wear?)
Sen giymiş misin? (Did You wear?)
O giymiş mi? (Did She/He/It wear?)
