Saw Temper Trap at a park concert and was surprised because I like them but didn’t recognize a single song. Realized they have a new album coming out and I have only listened to their old stuff.
Newer stuff has a bit of a different vibe. I’ll have to listen to it not in a crowd under a veil of confusion lol
ok what’s your florence + the machine song. mine is rabbit heart (raise it up)<3
My stapler at work has stopped advancing staples, so every time I use it I have to open it and manually advance the staples so the next one is in position to be used. There were no more in the supply cabinet and I have requested a new one but gotten no response. It's just a weird example to me of how I can get used to all sorts of weird things I shouldn't, as I just open the stapler automatically after using it now to prep for the next time I need it and I need it several times a day.
The first rule of sewing is you can fix anything if you have patience, creativity, and a little bit of extra fabric! The second rule of sewing is AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
My book server convinced me to start branching out with my cats, so I present, Spider Cat! Born of the fact I'm running out of large enough buttons to make more regular cats.
boyfriend has asked that I try out a two or even three headed cat next, but we'll see. I have several regular cats to finish, lol.
Boyfriend and I had a really good laugh about the Stargate universe dealing with the Genii and then the Ori and then we imagined a race called the Peni and the fun reactions characters would have about a race where everything is phallic and no one mentions it.
Like Daniel would be fascinated. Teyla would be want to be respectful of their culture. Ronon would shrug it off. Rodney would never shut up about it. It would be killing Sheppard not to say anything. And once Sheppard was out of earshot Teal'c and Sam would make little jokes about it.
We tried out a new coffee and Boyfriend didn't like it but I did and he texted me "you would like your coffee like you like your men - blond and lacking flavor"
Okay, my favorite graphic novels read in 2025! (took me long enough to post, haha)
Horimiya - this is just a sweet little high school romance, but the mains get together pretty early and you just get to see them be happy and explore the lovely relationships of all the other characters around them. It's so so very feel good. The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter - okay, this is a BL Isekai. However! it's kinda more about accounting. Silly, I know. but it grabbed me. This little office worker accidentally gets pulled into another world as an extra with their savior character, has no idea what to do with himself, asks for a job and then his autistic obsession with accounting throws everything in this fantasy kingdom out of balance. Oh and if he doesn't kiss the captain of the guard he very literally might die. LOL They made it into an anime and I am so excited. Sasaki and Miyano - this one's also feel good but emphasis more on the slow burn romance that's super silly and adorable. I love Sasaki so much! And his English voice actor in the anime just clinches it. Countdown to Countdown - this one diverges from the other three in that it is not cutesy. This one punched me right in the feels, but in such a good way. The world is fascinating, the characters are intriguing, and there is so much longing. It's a webcomic and still being produced so I'm sticking with it.
I get a gold star today for managing to actually drink my tea before it got cold!

i do not want to live in the fucking panopticon fuck the camera that blinks above me at work, the tv watching me at the store, the "smile you're on camera" signs, the ring cameras, the flock cameras, the apps to track your child or partner, the activist friends telling me "just assume everything you do in public is being recorded somewhere", the government building protester databases, the teslas recording every move all around them, the knowledge that everything i type or search or save is being tracked and logged, the ads and search suggestions that mysteriously know what i was just talking about, the way biometrics keep creeping into more places, the way my car spies on me, the way my phone spies on me, the way there is nowhere to go to get away from it!!! no wonder the internet is full of vindictive little stalkers and witchhunts when it's the water and the air of society from the culture to the infrastructure
Got home last night and instead of saying hello, Boyfriend said “oh no.”
Had a dream that Ryoko Kui revealed Chilchuck’s full name was Chilliamcharles Tims and the fandom was very divided about it.
2025 favorite books read
Mostly I read a ton of light weight, queer, and romantic audiobook series last year (also graphic novels but that's a separate post), but my favs were things I read physical copies of and while they were also queer and romantic, had much heavier themes.
Here they are:
Wicker King by K. Ancrum - I loved the choppy narration, how it was epistolary and you had an unreliable narrator. The slow decline of mental stability paired with the physical book itself getting darker was a whole experience.
Sorcery and Small Magic by Maiga Doocy - The slow reveal of the characters' deeper fears and flaws helping explain why they both are kinda jerks and specifically why they butt heads so often even though once they get past that they have a lot of common morals. This book broke down these boys and built them back up in the best way.
A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows - same appeal but with much heavier issues to deal with. Are you starting to see a theme of what I call Pobrecito sad wet boys? This book had so many moments that stabbed me in the heart. I get why Cae finds Vel after that first night and vows that he's gonna make this work.
Yield Under Great Persuasion by Alexandra Rowland - the only thing standing in Tam's way is Tam, but *slaps book* this bad boy can fit so much character development! Also, love you forever, Kelavigo Gauda. You stole my heart.
Since I read A LOT of comic/graphic novel/manga in 2025 I've decided to do that as it's own favs list :)
I have a wall mounted jewelry box and I opened it this morning to discover that one of my bracelets had broken because it fell out in pieces onto the floor.
