jane was born to an anglo-saxon woman and frankish soldier, a few minutes before her fraternal twin brother, alec. they were close and from the moment they were born, they displayed signs of having strong psychic abilities. good things would happen to those that were kind to the twins and bad things would happen to those that were unkind. this started a rumor around their village that they were involved in witchcraft.

carlisle cullen was the son of an anglican pastor, and a nomadic woman. she died giving birth to him. his father led hunts searching for vampires, werewolves, and witches in order to rid the world of evil. most of the hunts ended in the death of many innocents. as his father grew older, carlisle took over the raids. he found a real coven of vampires and was turned in the chaos of the hunt. afraid of what his father would do if he found out, he hid until his hunger led him out to the streets.
he ended up feeding on a herd of deer and found out that he could live off of the blood of animals. for centuries, he perfected his resistance to human blood. it was during nights that he would study and through this study he became fond of medicine and the ability to help people, which ended in him becoming a doctor.
carlisle was studying in italy whenever he stumbled upon the volturi and lived with them for two centuries. during this time, he became friends with aro and continued with his studies. he ended up leaving the volturi and setting off to the new world so that he could put his studies of medicine into practice.
he spent most of his time alone and became rather lonely. it was on his mind to change someone to be his companion, but he didn’t want to curse anyone to be like him. it wasn’t until 1918 that he came across a dying edward masen, and at the behest of the younger man’s mother, ended up changing him. esme followed after, then rosalie, emmett, and finally, jasper and alice.
