thank2 a lot you iin2en2iitiive fuck.  ii had nearly gotten thii2 horriible experiience out of my head and then you ju2t had two go and remiind me about it.  

not that ii could exactly forget the fact that iim wiired up to a con2ole wiith wiire2 protrudiing out of my every oriiface.  but by 2heer wiilpower alone ii miight have achiieved 2omethiing of a realiity block.  

oh well at lea2t ii can play troll pong all day wiithout anyone really iinteruptiing me wiilst ii work on achiieviing a world record 2core.  computerly diiviided attentiion and all that.  but how pathetiic ii2 that?  my whole exii2tence reduced two 2ome 2hiitty old computer game.

But he was not just a machine. He was her friend.

It had taken her little time to reach the helmsblock, the quickness of both fear and natural ability not allowing her to linger any longer than the time it had taken to type a quick message before finding him. He was where he always was — hung up in biomechanics, wires and plugs that made him half alive and half something else — and she needed to see how his body had been effected by whatever virus had wormed its way into his system.

"Sollux?" she said, voice quiet but firm and eyes wide with concern, and she stepped close enough to rest a hand against the side of his face, to feel his temperature. He was warmer than usual, she was sure of it. "Can you respond to me, please?"

He remained unresponsive, his wide, goggle-covered eyes seemingly staring off into nothingness.  His computer system was rebooting, after the glitch had occurred, the lights on the ship flickering as they usually did whenever this happened.  As it wrapped up, the captive captor slowly came to, although he was clearly pretty out of it even before he finally responded to the worrying Maryam.

"Hey Kanaya.  Yeah I can res-"  He was cut off by a more robotic voice cutting in, his drooping body going rigid.  

"SYSTEM RESTORE COMPLETE.  PERFORM FUNCTION-"

And his normal voice was back, as he visibly relaxed.  "-pond.  What's up?" He wasn't always aware of when system reboots happened, or when his body would cut in and out of the Helmsman program.  He knew it did happen, as it was this semi-awareness that allowed him to inwardly hack the system to allow any sort of conversation with his passengers, but when it happened or even what triggered it wasn't something he quite grasped.  

His body went rigid again as the program again took over.

"-AP371.  PLEASE INPUT COMMAND ON THE CONSOLE."
