â   Hyde⌠That was the name of the brother inside his body beneath his self-control⌠It was too bad that remnants of his darker half remained even when Jekyll was at light. She certainly hoped that the gentle doctor could keep⌠Hyde⌠in check this evening. She would speak no more of Hyde unless Jekyll invited it. He didnât seem to enjoy the topic.Â
The poor doctor⌠He seemed so nervous⌠⌠⌠She didnât want him to be nervous around her⌠Brynhildrâs presence could be too mournful for most, tedious at best⌠And those who knew of the way her life ended condemned her for it. For most, Brynhildr did not mind them being nervous around her, but she wished no harm at all to Jekyll⌠She decided to try to be a little less doleful than usual in an effort to calm his brother-driven anxieties.
She raised her elbows to the table and laced her fingers through each other, tilting her hand slightly to rest her cheek on the back of one hand, a soft smile gracing her pale lips.Â
âMuch milk and sugar would be wonderful, thank you,â she answered him softly. âAnd who was this Early Gray? Did you know him? He is a Saxon like you, yes?â
With a nod, Jekyll moved to the refrigerator. Cream would be nice to have with a black tea such as this, but milk would have to suffice. Then again...cream was rather strong, it was much better for coffee than tea if the person wasnât certain about their tastes.Â
Silently he prepared the tea for Brynhildr, focusing on his task instead of on the anxiety that was slowly eating away at him. Or, well, he was, until Brynhildr brought up a very good question.Â
âI...actually donât know.âÂ
Jekyllâs brows furrowed as he thought over where the name âEarl Grayâ actually came from. He remembered the tea being a rather normal occurrence within the local market when he was alive. There was no news of some fancy new tea being made so it certainly hadnât been new when Jekyll was an adult. And while Jekyllâs memories of his childhood werenât the strongest, as every other personâs did with age, he did remember drinking the tea with his parents or with friends of his parentsâ.Â
Where did the name come from?Â
Who was Earl Gray?Â
âI should actually look this up once I have the time...Iâm curious now.âÂ
But did library have any books on tea and their histories? Or, perhaps he should try looking through a book on Englandâs history to try and find a man named Earl Gray? Ah...but that would take a very long time...
With an almost innocent frown caused by the desire to know more adorning his face, Jekyll finished preparing the two cups of tea.Â
He smiled once he was done and picked up both mugs. There was a small twinge of fear in his heart as he approached Brynhildr, but he ignored it. Thankfully, the thought of searching for the name Earl Gray had taken his mind off of senseless fears...He didnât seem as nervous now.Â
âI can only assume he was Saxon, or Anglo-Saxon. If I find the answer, Iâll be sure to tell you.âÂ
He placed a mug of tea in front of Brynhildr. True to the request, it had been given plenty of milk and sugar to balance out the more bitter taste of the tea. Jekyll himself took his tea and sat at the same table, blowing softly on the liquid before sipping at it.Â
ow-- still hot. But, it did taste how he liked it. Good.Â
âI hope you like it.âÂ
