Jane loved her job an awful lot. She loved getting to try and teach young minds about the past. She loved having access to the school’s archives. She even sort of loved marking essays. But some days all she wanted to do was info dump on a bunch of strangers and walk away. Which is why she was always grateful for the days when the museum rings to ask if she could cover one of their exhibits. Before making her way into the west wing of the building and her spot in the Ancient Civilisations exhibit Jane stops by the cafe to get herself a coffee and mentally run over her notes for the day. One of the best parts about getting this placement in the museum is that she doesn’t have to think too much about it.
By the time she gets to the exhibit to relive the other person there’s already small groups of people wandering through the space so she tugs her lanyard over her head and starts wandering around too. It doesn’t take her long before spotting someone by themselves peering curiously at one of the statues towards the front of the room and Jane can’t quite stop herself from approaching, smiling at the stranger, head tilting a little to the side and saying “Hi, are you interested in learning more about this particular statue?”
