"the sky…
…it’s..darker than i imagined..”

The rain was tapping on the windowpane while the wind whistled through the street, carrying leaves and branches along with it. The weather hadn’t been like this for weeks, summer surely had had some moodswing, or so it seemed. The streets were near empty besides the leaves and puddles slowly drowning the pavement in pre-autumn. Many had closed their curtains to keep the gloomy weather outside, but no one could ignore the big raindrops hitting their houses’ roofs.
Bryant checked his watch for the umpteenth time. Was it time yet? Time to go outside? He was hoping for the weather to change once again, though he knew it wouldn’t happen. It was not going to stop raining within five minutes, that was for sure. Which meant his hair would be a total mess if he arrived at the café. Even if going by car, the seconds spent outside would soak him. Luckily he wouldn’t be the only one arriving drenched. Another glance on the golden watch around his wrist. Not yet. The waiter stood up and poured himself a glass of water. There was no reason to be nervous and yet he was. After all, he wasn’t going there to fall in love. That wasn’t the plan, that’s for sure. He wanted to find himself a friendship, which could of course grow into a relationship eventually, but that wasn’t what he was aiming for. But then again, who the hell went to some speed date event for a friend? Wasn’t that. . . Stupid?
As soon as the cold glass was empty, Bryant checked his watch again. He didn’t want to be too early, he always was too early so now he would make sure he wouldn’t be by checking his watch each second. Every minute counted if you wanted to be just in time. When the small hand hit the small four on his watch, he grabbed his coat and quickly ran outside to hop into the car and make his way to the café.
The rain and leaves hit the window and the windshield wipers were moving at high speed to get rid of them. Bryant needed all his concentration to be on the road to make sure he wouldn’t hit anything. Luckily it was fairly quiet outside, aside from the wind and rain of course. He arrived at the café and once again crossed the street running and walked inside. There was a big table with lots and lots of chairs on them. It wasn’t too busy yet, but it was a relief to him that he wasn’t the first one to be there. He sat himself down on a random seat and started to dry his glasses.
{ there is something soothing, an almost phantom-like pain which roars through his back and legs, yet, nonetheless, the growl of rain, the sky painted in shades of black and grey and fathomless blue, and Tenka feels complete, whole }
{ cloudy skies were what his heart longed for, and would he always revel under them till he perished, naught but dust and bones, regrets piled up between his ashes }
Tenka considers the rhythm of nature's very own symphony, the ghoulish cast, the scent of desperation and tradition--years had his family been borne and celebrated under the mist, and Tenka felt as if a blessing was bestowed upon his very head--another day of numbing bliss and serenity.
He is dressed more to impress than usual--gone are messy strands of hair and the comforting feel of worn robes and kimonos against his flesh, but his locks washed and cleansed, a waterfall flowing down from its ponytail, and a simple blazer and trousers--
{ he scoffs internally, he feels as if he is suffocated in such simple attire, and he tugs upon the collar, futile and weary }
--Shirasu had laughed when he stated the reason for his strange appearance, Soramaru as well--chiding his older brother for his lack of unease--
{ "--a blind date, aniki? Really? With someone you don't even know?" }
--but Tenka had never been an advocate for staying still, has he always lunged forward, ran when his legs no longer could, and shouted till his voice sore and exhausted, coming out in deep rasps and coughs.
At least, he had the sense in bringing an umbrella, although--he is enraptured by the dazzling phosphorescence of the drizzle, and his umbrella slowly maneuvers down to his side, and Tenka feels alive.
{ the rain which reflects city life, the melancholic strife and struggles of the people, the sudden joy and recollection, and the drops of water burn like fire in the soggy air }
The cafe is nondescript, a plain brown haven, and even a block away, can the aroma of rich coffees and the light fragrance of sweets and pastries be found, dancing in betwixt the coolness of the evening. A comforting aura envelopes Tenka as he wades in, conscious suddenly of the damp of his locks, how his dress shirts sticks uncomfortably to his chest, the squeak of his shoes against clean tiles--and it's so ordinary and odd at the same time that Tenka laughs.
--he's supposed to be looking for someone, and Tenka realizes with a start, that he has no idea who it is he should be searching for--all he has is a name--
{ but Tenka knows well, the power, the fear, the happiness that can be attached to one's christening }
And lips flutter, and his voice carries out like bells, like a ray of the blossoming sun, and dark orbs scan the interior, waiting for a reaction.
"Is there anyone named Bryant Puccia here?"
The Cloudy Sky Burns
The Kumou Brothers of Donten ni Warau coming soon!
He’s watching (and waiting) as the world becomes wet. He sits right outside the room, staying out of the sleek rain, but enjoying the show it provides.
{ the downpour is sudden and horrific--a thundering snarl of light and sound intertwining in the air with grace and the primal urge for shelter is overpowering, but has Tenka grown under muddy skies all his life so he wades through like an idiot }
