[Text] Yeah. It's been brought up but she just lashed out.
(text shay) have you hung out or seen ashley lately?
[Text] We're actually going to be hanging over soon. She's coming over to help with the nursery
Lots of hanging out lately ❤️🔥
Michael had always been a calming infuence for Tyler. Even when they were just friends and co workers it was Michael who gave him the confidence to come out and be himself. When they were finished he stood up and followed his husband out of the building. He knew Michael was calm but the last words from the interviewer were replaying in Tyler's head. They would likely be chosen soon. How soon? They were not prepared for this. They didn't have the bedroom ready or the house baby proofed or a gate to keep the baby from wandering into the ocean. He was going to have to move all his surfboards into the garage. The list in his head just kept getting longer. He turne to his husband and knew Michael saw the look on his face. "How soon do you think is soon? We don't have anything ready. There is so much to do with the house and the beach, we need to research pediatriains and schools. Maybe I should call Ashley and find out where she send her kids."
Michael could see Tyler's this fearful look in his husbands eyes and knew he had to be overthinking everything right now and reached for his hand. "Relax baby. It's all going to be fine." It was a lot and Michael had his own fears but they could do this together. "I'm not sure but we'll be ready. We can make a list of everything that we need to do and start ticking it off. We'll get some paint, and baby furniture and we can start working on the nursery, we can get gates up and baby proof things in a day, that's not hard to do. So that's what, two or three days max? Anything you can think of that we need to do we can write it down and do." He liked that Tyler was thinking about everything and wanted the house safe for their kid. "Sure, I think that's a good idea. She might even know other things we need to do or buy before we become parents. " He cupped Tyler's face, "Trust me, we'll be fine."
Tyler took in his husbands embrace and words and slowly started to calm down. He was going to be one of those dads. Those dads that are overprotective and afraid of everything. Maybe he should bring that up in his next therapy session. "Ok. You're right. We got this. I'll take me about a day to clean out the garage and move my surf stuff out there. We can hire someone to put up a fence. Dylan's not gonna like it but she's gonna have to start keeping her toys in a toybox and using the doggy door." Tyler's eyebrow raised, "What if the baby crawls through the dog door? I know they have sensored ones but would a baby set off the sensor?" He still felt like there were a million things to doo but he knew they'd be okay. They had family. Well Michael's family anyway and his mother would be over in a second. Hell she probably won't leave once the baby comes. "Should we set up a room for your mom while we're at it?" He teased his husband.

Tyler relaxed a little when Michael didn't hesitate to agree with him. They were on the same page which wasn't so surprising given they knew each other so well. But as the lady started rattling off more questions the feeling of anxiety and being overwhelmed started to come back. He reached over and grabbed Michael's hand to ground himself again. "The classes won't be a problem. We can rearrange our schedules if we have to. I don't really have a preference. I just want to find a child who needs us as much as we want them. That stuff doesn't matter to us." He looked over to his husband to make sure he was okay with him speaking for them both. The details didn't matter. All he cared about was finding a child they could love and give a good life to. He'd watched all his friends have kids and start families and he'd never imagined one of his own until Michael came along.
There were on the same page which was important because as parents they would need to be. Both wanting the same things in life and thinking about their actions before they did anything to hurt their family. Letting someone in to possibly try and gain custody wasn't something they would allow. Michael turned as Tyler grabbed his hand, knowing immediately what his husband was feeling. "It's okay." He said in a soft voice that the lady may not have even heard but it wasn't directed towards her. It was to help calm his husband. Michael nodded as Tyler looked towards him to see if he agreed on the next question that was asked. "We just want a healthy kid that needs a loving home." He injected after turning back to the lady and giving Tyler's hand a a comforting squeeze. "Looks like we're done here then . I'll send you the details on the classes as well as update your profile on our website. The birth mothers will review several profiles and choose the family that aligns best with her vision for her child's future. I'm sure the two of you will be chosen soon since you have a lot to offer a child." People in higher income brackets were often chosen over regular people so she felt there wouldn't be much wait time for the me. Michael stood and shook her hand before walking out with Tyler. "You want to get food and head home or you want to go somewhere else?"

Tyler was nervous but he wanted this. All his friends had told him that being nervous was a good thing. It meant he was taking this seriously. Tyler smiled and squeezed his husbands hand. "Yeah, I'm ready." He had changed and grown a lot in the last year. Sure he might not have followed the rules of sobriety but he'd found something that worked for him. He loved Michael and he wasn't going to hold off on being with him just because of some arbritary rule. Michael knew the deal and had been with him every step of the way. He folloed him into the office and took a seat next to him. He looked at his husband when the question was asked what kind of adoption they wanted. It wasn't a conversation they'd had. Or maybe they had and he just didn't remember. "Closed I think. I jut don't like the idea of someone else thinking they have a right to one day just walk in and ry to take our kid away. I mean if when they're older they want to know or find out or whatever that's their choice. But I don't want to be fighting someone over how we parent or our lifestyle. I would like to get at least a family medical in case something were to ever happen."
Michael couldn't believe that she had even thought they would want an open adoption where he felt their rights could be limited so he was glad to hear that Tyler felt the same way. They had never discussed it, Michael had never even thought about the fact there were different types of adoptions. Michael nodded when Tyler looked over at him. "I agree, we don't want any risks here of them trying to take our child from us. So definitely, closed." She needed her head as she noted it in the file. "You'll need to participate in educational classes to prepare for adoptive parenthood, can you do that? Also, have you decided on what type of child you would like as in age, gender and race?" It felt as if they were buying a car or a house but he knew all of this was important. "Sure we can do whatever classes are needed for us to take." Michael looked over at Tyler. "Do you have a preference on our kid?" He was sure there was the perfect kid out there for them and hoped all the formalities would soon be over so they could extend their family.
