Hitting the Road
Taylor Madden loved to write and she loved to photograph the world around her. Many people told her she had a knack for it. The only trouble was, as of lately, she was having a hard time drawing inspiration from anything around her dull, small Indiana town.
It frustrated Taylor to the point that she would take it out on her poor boyfriend, Clark. She loved him, she did, but sometimes it felt like they had outgrown each other. Rather Taylor felt like she had outgrown Clark, meanwhile Clark had just stayed the same. Maybe some distance would do them some good? It had to.
Lucky for Taylor, and boy did she feel lucky, today was the day that all of this would change. Today she was going to move all the way to New York City with, probably, the most exciting person she knew – Coco Josefsson. Today they would begin their journey to road trip to New York.
Coco was a model and a beautiful one at that. The two had been friends since forever, but something about moving to New York City with her seemed so… well… for a lack of a better word, cool. She was fun, lively and everything men dreamed about. The best part was, Coco had no time for men. Actually she was a lesbian, which kind of intrigued Taylor on some deep, unknown level within her.
Taylor kissed Clark goodbye, but something felt different. Taylor felt different. He was crying, meanwhile Taylor forced herself to shed a tear. She could feel Coco, rolling her eyes into the back of her head, while all of this transpired. As soon as they hit the road, it was like a switch turned on in Taylor.
“Clark overdid it back there, didn’t he?” Taylor giggled, giddily reaching for her camera in the backseat. She started taking pictures of the passing scenery, then turned to take a picture of Coco driving. She bit her lip, looking over at Coco for a brief moment – somewhat seeking approval, but something else too. Taylor could not put her finger on it, so she decided not to worry about it. Taylor could not wait to start her life with Coco in New York City.
Coco’s life was about to change.
Whether it was for the better or not had yet to be determined, but something great was about to happen, and she was going to dive right into it with storm. After all, it wasn’t everyday one would move to the Big Apple. Granted, she had been there plenty of times for various of reasons, but living there? Starting a new life there? That was a whole different matter. It was a great way to start over, and maybe find a greater purpose in life.
Or maybe she’d fine love. The mutual, not so heart-breaking kind of love.
So maybe she was a bit melodramatic and bitter about it inside her head, but it couldn’t be helped. Her best friend was as straight as a pole, and she accepted that, of course. She accepted and respected the fact that Taylor had a boyfriend and that there were going to be times where she had to witness them being affectionate with one another. So of course she looked away, and even rolled her eyes a little when she watched them saying goodbye, before she gave Clark a quick hug and a pat on his back so that they could move on already.
They were on their way to a new chapter now, and the excitement only seemed to grow as they were finally on their way. Taylor had, to no surprise, already picked up her camera, and when she aimed it at her, Coco sent her a quick smile before focusing on the road again. “I mean”, she started in response, while keeping her gaze to what was in front of her. “You’ve been together for so long, of course he’ll be upset with you leaving.” She kept her voice neutral, and was thankful at that moment that she didn’t have to look at her friend.
