The Wandering Mind Thursday, 17 August 2017 3:41 PM Everytime i pass by around Cabilao Island, i can't help but be reminded how much I am failing miserably in trying to fit in this whole adulting world. Don't get me wrong, I feel #blessed with my life right now but the reason might be because Cabilao is a place that i always associate with thrill and adventure and it has always been the place where I felt the most alive. Few years ago, I had my first snorkelling experience in Pantudlan Beach where I realized how much I love the ocean. It dawned on me while snorkelling on their healthy and very clean beach that there is a world down there that is waiting to be explored. I saw that the coast of Cabilao island is covered with thick and healthy seagrass. Coasts like this is a sign for a healthy marine ecosystem because this is where most marine life thrives. As a result, a diverse marine life will welcome you in the deep. Also, unknown to many, Cabilao Island is a must-spot for divers. Because of this tiny discovery, i always yearn for the water everytime i want to disconnect with reality. It's the best form of releasing stress for me and it works all the time. Second, the place is impressively clean and well taken cared of by the locals (this observation was around a year ago however and i'm not sure about today). There were no plastic residues and garbage on the beach which makes me so happy. Third, the place has no cellular connection so it will force you to to focus more with what's there to discover and with that you will learn to appreciate the beauty of nature. Fourth, you don't have to worry about spending money over there. The place is secluded and far from the hint of urban life so everything is dirt cheap. It is the definition of island life. No cars just habal- habal. No convenience stores just tiny sari-sari stalls. No restaurants, so you must secure your food earlier. They do have a resort which prices fairly. You see, this explains why my feelings for Cabilao Island can be likened to that of your first love. Although many years have passed, the feelings will always be there. You might grow out from it but everytime you will see that first love, the butterflies in your tummy will still tickle. ☺

Bar Boys (2017)

Facts: Bar Boys is an honest portrayal of the life of law students which depicts the dizzying highs and crushing lows of law school. The movie is also relatable to everyone in the academic area in general. It humbly acknowledges that the journey towards reaching your dreams is not a magic carpet ride. In most cases, you will fall, cry and meet people who will test your ability to the point that self-doubt will come knocking in. All of these are normal since failure is sign that you are moving in life.

From the story of testing the waters of friendship to enduring heartbreaks and facing hefty family issues, this movie got it all right and it is a wise experience.

Issue: Whether or not you should watch it.

Held: Yes. Definitely yes! To everyone out there struggling with their academics, career, lovelife, family and other issues, you will certainly learn a lesson or two from this. It is the kind of movie which will make you laugh, cry and laugh hard again. As for me, I went out of the movie house with a huge smile, a lesson to remember and more inspiration to take the Bar Exam. Thank you Bar Boys!
