my mom says i’m good at finding bad and making it stick like flypaper to me; i say: okay but at least no fly dies lonely. how sickening.

i’ve been chewing my cuticles again. get tired more easy. i hear a high note in my head and say: let’s pretend that’s not a siren. let’s pretend that’s singing.

i kiss the wrong person and call it being flirty. i pick out my bones in dreams and sew myself to a better body.

but i am better. right. i write a poem to you but delete it. don’t get hung up on a heartbreak. don’t cut my hair. i do my laundry.

but i am better, right? i only stare at walls for six hours at a time. i only get drunk when i’m not feeling alright. i don’t remember the last time i cried.

i found a family of spiders in my room last night. i stayed there and stared at it and brought each one outside. see. one by one. we each stay alive.
