Code July 2024, Day 21: Diary

What's this? A parallel? Yes, yes it is. I know Jeremie and Franz Hopper have diaries too, but I wanted to focus on Ulumi for this one.

Finally. Really wanted to draw some Ulumi and here I am!

Day 21- Midnight. Okay, this one stumped me lol. Both 'Night' and 'Midnight' are such similar prompts I had trouble coming up with an idea. I (tried) to go with a more 'New years' theme, but I couldn't get any fireworks in with the angle I chose 😅, so enjoy Yumi and Ulrich looking peaceful in each other's company.

sometimes you just can't write a straightforward confession scene for a pairing. sometimes you have to pry those characters open with YOUR TEETH and then push them in a dimly lit storage room with no water or food just each other's company until they're so exasperated by the circumstances that their feelings cant be contained anymore and then AND ONLY THEN one of them will cave in and do something abt it

it's actually so great that yumi's singular moment of complete honesty isn't even truthful. "let's just be friends". it's not even truthful. but she took the painful path for less pain down the road, leastways that was the logic. better than fighting all the time right 'always on the edge of divorced parents' kid.

and what a thing to hear for ulrich "takes everything like a stake to the heart, internalizing it to hurt himself more than the words mean" stern
