Ohh I- I’m sorry, I’ll come back later. I didn’t mean to inconvenience you.
“No, come in, I’ve got a moment to spare. What do you need, Mr. Iras?
“You mean you….didn’t have an appointment for an at home consultation? For a broken pendant?”
“For today? No. Do I look like I am prone to forgetting an appointment? The appointment was for Wednesday.”
She sighed. “As it happens, I have a moment to spare, and would very much like this trinket repaired. Come in.”
george-ferdinand:
“A dear lady, actually.”
“I see... Well, if you know what you’re looking for, then I suppose I can help.”
“I would love to come in” Isabelle said with a smile, she could not believe she had never visited this place, she loved going into the different businesses, and getting to know the owners. How could she miss this one? “Thank you, I’ll really appreciate it…”
“Everything…” she said in a whisper, “I- sorry… it’s just… everything looks very interesting..” Belle said with wonder. Wherever she look she found fascinating things, some strange looking, some bright, some dark. “What exactly do you sell here?” she said still looking around.
Uma held out her hand to the girl. “Let me see the addressing label. Perhaps I can make sense of it. Rather careless of them to write their address so poorly, don’t you agree?”
In this light, the crystal bottles on her shelves twinkled and glittered. In combination with the silk hangings from the roof, Uma’s apothecary resembled a gypsy’s den, or an enchanted grotto. “Medicines, sometimes. Tokens of good fortune, or ill. It all depends upon what you choose to do with my ingredients.”
“Those are very good reasons.” Elsa shrugged, looking outside. “Sometimes. I like watching the smiles on their faces, but mostly, I like the snow, the cold and how beautiful everything looks. I am not good at the actual holiday festivities. There are not many people I would celebrate with, either.”
“Ah, I see. You have a very limited group of people. So, my dear, would the boy with the funny hats be one of those people?” The corner of Uma’s mouth twitched up in a smile. “You would be surprised how far little birds can fly, Miss Chambers.”
Hans raised his eyebrows. “Have you slapped any of them yet? I’d thoroughly enjoy that, mostly because I don’t believe in good luck.”
Nodding, he was quite glad that she seemed to have an interest in his comment. That always made Hans more than pleased. “Those are the most beautiful words I’ve ever heard. Do tell me all you know, all your favorite knowledge about this,” he said, resting his chin in his hands, leaning on the counter.
“I find I need not resort to petty things like a childish slap. A look can have a much greater effect, if used correctly.”
“You seem to be misinformed about how this works, Mister Westermont. You tell me what you want and what you can do for me, and then I will tell you if I am willing to help you.” Despite her stern tone, Uma allowed a slight smile. If stripped of his ego, this boy could be quite useful. If not entirely likeable.
“What is so terrible about the holiday, Miss Tripoli? It is meant to be a festive holiday.”
“It is busy, it is noisy, the shops and streets are crowded and there are annoying carols everywhere. I suppose you are a fan, my dear?”
“Three days until this miserable holiday is over.”
“I didn’t think I’d see you here. Are you Christmas shopping, too?”
“Of course not. This is the only shop in town that has what I need.”
“Well I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask. I take it I’m not the only person to ask for some happy holidays?”
“No. But I fail to see why I would put my talents toward something so trivial.”
george-ferdinand:
“To make sure a person of interest to me has a merry Christmas this year, of course.”
“Ah I see. For your dear sister, or a dear lady deserving of your attentions, sir?”
princess-anastasia-moore:
Ana nodded in reply before saying, “Of course, thank you Lady Tripoli.”
“Do you think so? Everything keeps changing because we have to accommodate changes that happen. I fear it will not look well once we have finished planning because the ideas do not compliment one another.”
“As long as you remember to assess the entire concept before you finish, I’m sure you will be fine. Is there a date in sight, Princess?”
“Please, Lady Tripoli? I just want to know that this person will have a merry Christmas this year.”
“As charming as you are, your Highness, I don’t quite understand what you would be using my resources for.”
beautifulhans:
Hans burst into laughter, trying his best not to be obnoxious, although at this point, he didn’t really care. “How do charms make Christmas merry? I don’t understand, unless of course you’re getting rid of unwanted family members because then I might be in the market for some.”
“I suppose people perceive they can ask me for... Good luck. Nonsense like that.”
“Unwanted family members, you say?” A wry smile grew on Uma’s face despite herself. “Well, I definitely know a few things about that.”
“My remedies and charms will absolutely not be used to ‘make someone’s Christmas merry’, I do not care how desperately you beg.”
“Sounds perfect. Could you write a set of instructions for the dosage?”
“Well, there are just so many decorations and ideas to go through. I want my big day to be perfect, after all.”
Uma nodded and took a pen from one of the many compartments in her desk. She took careful notes in an even hand on a piece of paper. “Every evening, before you plan to go to sleep. Remember that.”
“Yes of course, that is understandable, Princess. But I am sure it will be beautiful.”
