Essek makes his way to the estate the day after their brief conversation, once more not bothering much with following any protocols and just heading towards where his mother was after asking one of the servants. He gently knocks on the door to the room. "Mother, it is me, Essek."

The room Deirta was in happend to be her office, as she did some work on days where she felt well enough to get things done. She was, however sitting one one of the chocuhes in her office, some tea and small snacks on the table in front of her in case Essek wanted some tea or snaks. "Do come in then, son."

Essek enters the room, closing the door behind himself and gliding in front of his mother, giving a very slight bow. "Good day, mother. How are you feeling today?" He waits for his mother to gesture for him to sit.

Deirta gave him a bow of her head as a greeting and made a hand motion for him to sit down. "I am feeling well today, which is a good thing as I did not feel too well yesterday."

"It good to hear that you are feeling a bit better. We can discuss later a date to finish your treatment." Essek sits down, smoothing his robes down to get rid of any wrinkles. "But let's talk about what I reached out for first, yes?"

"That does sound good to me. I am very much looking forward to it." Deirta said and poured herself a cup of tea. "Of ourse. I am very curios what you want to talk about."

Essek nods, resting his hands on his lap. He doesn't pour himself a cup of tea, not yet at least. "Verin and I were down into the archive beneath the stage, and we found something. I was hoping to ask you about it."

Deirta was about to take a sip of her tea, but stopped when Essek told her what he wished to talk to her about. "Of course you found it." She muttered under her breath in undercommon and then took a sip from her tea, before nodding. "Ask me anything you wish, but know that you can only share the answers with your brother and anyone the Queen deems worthy of knowing." She said, sounding serious when she said that.

Essek nods, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. "Of course. The Queen has entrusted me with the research of the beacons, so please, answer me as honestly as you can." He thinks for a moment about what to ask first. "When I did a cursory reading of it, its energy came back as... Corrupted. What happened to it?"

"That is good to hear. And I will be as honest as I can." Deirta said. "It got corrupted a few years before you were born. I do not remembery how eacctly it happend, you would have to ask the Queen about it, but one day she came to me and told me about it. She asked me to make sure it was contained, as both of us have no clue who or what corrupted it."

"I will have to ask her about it, then." Essek takes in the information, rubbing his bottom lip as he thought further. He frowns a little, confused. "Why keep it under our estate? Could it not corrupt the souls in its range? Or does the device keep its effect at bay?"

"The device keeps the effects at bay. And it also very much scans the beacon every now and then, with the results of the scan being sent to a device I had an artificer make for me." Deirta sakd and took another sip of her tea. "And based on how confused you look, I am guessing that you did not find the robotic device in question."

Essek shakes his head with a sigh. "We did not. Once Verin and I realized what it was, we did not look for anything else. I wanted to pry further, but it did not seem safe with Verin so close to it." Essek watches as his mother drinks her tea, but doesn't partake. "Who else knows about it?"

"Only me and the Queen. Now you and Verin. The artificer knew as well, but the Queen trust him and he has never told anyone as far as I am aware." Deirta said and then frowned, an almost disgusted glint in her eyes. "Ikithon almost somehow learned about it, but me and the Queen made sure that he did not learn anythimg about it."

"I will still need the name of the artificer, just in case." Essek scoffs at the mention of Trent, squeezing his hands together. "That bastard, of course he would try to get his hands on it. Verin says it is unlikely, but I am sure the volstruckers attacked the estate searching for it." It was not like Essek to openly insult anyone, but Trent was an exception. "What about Ludinus? Does he know?"

"Of course. His name is Luis Woods." Deirta said and huffed. "Usually I would scold you for openly insulting someone, but Ikithon deserves being insulted. And I am afraid that thed most likely did search for it." She said with a frown. "He does not. The Queen was close to tell him, but I told her that he can't know as I do not trust him at all."
