Bach Buquen | ICON (2025)
I like swimmers now, apparently.
Something about bodies in the water!
Also, who is Art Belenov and where can I find more???
flawless find today! caravaggio, botticelli, michaelangelo, and raphael would have loved having David Eggers II in their studios, wouldn't they? so handsome, so much presence, even when still.

david eggers ii + murlin st. john = visionary nupop art that's rebel af
the spirit of warhol, bowie, iggy, mapplethorpe, lives in this epic collaboration from two of the bravest, boldest fucking artists around
long post but worth it
full disclosure, i had no idea who murlin st. john was until I got fascinated by indie king (and rebel art idol) david eggers ii in "station to station" and "infinite," and found those "cards of murlin" last year. you probably don't know him, either, but you should get to right now.
if you're looking around and losing hope watching america in it's authoritarian, anti-female, sex-negative, project 2025 era (yea, project 2025 literally, in writing, seeks to dissuade art by declaring it "porn" and making it illegal..already proposed as a bill in Oklahoma and coming to a red state near you) remember ART IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER.
murlin st. john's nudes (male and female) capture the range of everyday mundane to erotic and provocative. they are visionary, challenging, colorful, and surreal. they are diverse and body positive a powerful challenge to the status quo in that '70s and '80s tradition. it's rebel fucking art in the vein of warhol, bowie, iggy, and mapplethorpe and we need to support the shit out of it.
that's david's vibe, too, and the exact reason i'm a fan and they have several collaborations, with so many other beautiful and diverse bodies and concepts too. I fucking needed this and I know you did too.
check it all at >> murlin.tv <<
(this isn't an ad and wasn't coordinated with anybody, but if you can afford to be a patron or support either of these artists or any other rebels like them, please do. the next four years is going to try to break them all. don't let it.)
david eggers ii puts in the work #respect it
in a world of tiktok and onlyfans shortcuts to fame, a reminder that david has been a respected artist and working actor for a decade, on everything from network procedurals, ads, christmas movies and Amazon sitcoms to in-your-face experimental, boundary-pushing, provocative projects with some visionary artists and directors.
he's like the old school NYC greats and i personally have no doubt he could actually end up one of them one day. he doesn't need or want your adoration or clicks or likes, he's not baiting anybody or charging for feet pics and there's no wish list for gifts.
david eggers ii is a real one, just out there making art, putting himself in new arenas, and, yeah, being the best fucking ally to women, gays, and working people like him with his art and platform, not just the empty "performing" of allyship.
i sometimes worry he isn't getting work because of his authenticity and willingness to speak up for what he believes and those who have no voice, and i worry he might think he needs to keep his clothes on, only work with conservative mainstream artists, or be less rebellious in his art to finally get the riches and stardom his talent deserves. i wish i could go to him and tell him how much his authenticity means to the rest of us, how much his willingness to challenge norms and be subject to the female and gay male gaze so inabashedly (especially allowing women like me to embrace, explore, and express their own sexuality through art and pop culture the way men have for, basically, all time) without needing to posture, add disclaimers, or use it to slide into our DMs for hookups. he's a true example of non-toxicity and as a 30-something woman in america, I don't see that and i absolutely fucking celebrate it, full stop.
so yeah, i run a fan site, and yeah the letters and dms I get, especially from other women, make it worth it, and yeah, if you haven't figured it out, i'm gonna use my voice more, following david's lead, with longer posts. and i am still betting on david. i don't think he's going to stop, i don't think you can shame him, and when this conservative nightmare is over and we whip back the other direction, people are going to notice and remember the ones who held it down and rebelled, so yeah, i am fucking betting on david eggers ii.
