david eggers ii puts in the work #respect it
in a world of tiktok and onlyfans shortcuts to fame, a reminder that david has been a respected artist and working actor for a decade, on everything from network procedurals, ads, christmas movies and Amazon sitcoms to in-your-face experimental, boundary-pushing, provocative projects with some visionary artists and directors.
he's like the old school NYC greats and i personally have no doubt he could actually end up one of them one day. he doesn't need or want your adoration or clicks or likes, he's not baiting anybody or charging for feet pics and there's no wish list for gifts.
david eggers ii is a real one, just out there making art, putting himself in new arenas, and, yeah, being the best fucking ally to women, gays, and working people like him with his art and platform, not just the empty "performing" of allyship.
i sometimes worry he isn't getting work because of his authenticity and willingness to speak up for what he believes and those who have no voice, and i worry he might think he needs to keep his clothes on, only work with conservative mainstream artists, or be less rebellious in his art to finally get the riches and stardom his talent deserves. i wish i could go to him and tell him how much his authenticity means to the rest of us, how much his willingness to challenge norms and be subject to the female and gay male gaze so inabashedly (especially allowing women like me to embrace, explore, and express their own sexuality through art and pop culture the way men have for, basically, all time) without needing to posture, add disclaimers, or use it to slide into our DMs for hookups. he's a true example of non-toxicity and as a 30-something woman in america, I don't see that and i absolutely fucking celebrate it, full stop.
so yeah, i run a fan site, and yeah the letters and dms I get, especially from other women, make it worth it, and yeah, if you haven't figured it out, i'm gonna use my voice more, following david's lead, with longer posts. and i am still betting on david. i don't think he's going to stop, i don't think you can shame him, and when this conservative nightmare is over and we whip back the other direction, people are going to notice and remember the ones who held it down and rebelled, so yeah, i am fucking betting on david eggers ii.
