so it begins...
students and professors alike wondered why yale had decided to start classes right before the labor day holiday. was it to ease them all back into the grind with a three-day weekend immediately after the first week of classes? the campus was frenetic with energy that friday, as people poured out of the dreary classrooms into the bright sunlight. friends reunited and new relationships formed in the quad underneath the swaying oak trees. everyone was excited for the weekend to officially begin.
but beneath the hallowed ground of yale’s first building, connecticut hall, members of the uncommons began to gather in preparation for their first meeting. tonight, they would induct the newest members of their secret society, and use their combined power and energy to enforce the magical seal that protected the country from the darkest pit of hell.
every year it required more energy, more participation. and every year, the fear of demons infiltrating the uncommons and sabotaging the protective spells grew larger. it is up to the long-term members to guide the new members, help them understand how important their responsibility is.
but it’s a new school year, and a three-day weekend at that. could priorities be elsewhere? it’s likely, and demons will make sure to take advantage of the distractions.
