Robert Sugden: Echo
Soap character of all time!
An Aaron and Robert edit to smallest man who ever lived with includes Jack, Gordon, Lachlan, John and Kev
robert has to almost die in this showdown. it's the only way aaron is going to go from "he's going to leave anyway so there's no point" to "he could leave at any moment so i can't let him go"
Just saying, it's really been too long since rob/ron ended up in hospital with ron/rob sitting a bedside vigil. Just throwing it out there....
one day someone is going to mention how proud his dad would be of him to robert one too many times and he will finally snap and tell all about the farm hand incident of 2001, thus finally allowing the sugden siblings and everyone else in that village to deconstruct their image of jack sugden and giving me one more reason to live.
robron + hands
i also thought there was something 'off' with Robert in that Sarah conversation at the Hide - he just seemed so disconnected from it. For me it felt a bit like when Matty was talking about Amy's birthday when he (at least) said something appropriate but it just seemed like words, with no feeling about it. It's like everything's blunted/muted unless its about Aaron, Vic or John (and for other reasons scheming - although that's more head-y than heart-y anyway). And I'd bet Ryan isn't playing it like that for no reason/without some sort of direction
He's been doing lots of face acting since he's been back so I feel like I've just been paying extra attention and looking out for the trauma layers. Maybe it's just because I really want them to do that story justice but I could see this maybe being part of it. Or he could have just been bored by the conversation. Who knows. Maybe I'm reaching.
I wonder if Robert's clothing choices are to externally represent how he is on the inside??
bland and beige?
I mean it's possible. I assume emmerdale have professionals working in the wardrobe department... and surely they can tell the beige washes him out? So you'd think hope it was intentional.
Let's hope they bin the beige soon!
(can you tell I really hate beige?)

All the new spoilers that kind of support my "John frames Owen for Nate's murder" theory 👀
These two are for Friday July 18 (happy birthday to me!)
Then these teasers are for the following week... (Is Owen dead?)
Vic! I didn't realise it was you... 20.06.2025
Yeah I don't particularly want it mainly because I'm worried about how it'll be handled in amongst all the John BS (though I'm sure Ryan, Danny and Isobel would be amazing) but I think it's very plausible. ED have never done an adult male being raped SL before I don't think and all of the other soaps have and they've already done the whole being beat and traumatised in prison thing with Aaron. It would also give Aaron and Vic a reason to empathise with him and support him because they've both been there and possibly give parallels to Aaron opening up about Gordon to Robert and Aaron encouraging him to open up to Vic about it like Robert did with Chas. If it's not SA, I think it will be something like someone almost killed him but if that was the case surely Vic would know/have been contacted if he was in a really bad way so idk
That is a good point, all the soaps have done one at one time or another. But I don't think any of them were SA in prison. I know that happens a lot in prison. So much so that it's often referenced when it comes to male prisons, with comments like becoming someone's prison wife.
I could see Robert being attacked, and since it happened in prison, it would be hard to prosecute and get justice. Plus, since Robert was cut off from everyone he loved, I doubt there were many who cared while he was inside. So he never processed the trauma or the attack and had to just carry it all locked up inside him.
And now Robert is just a volcano of repressed emotions and trauma, ready to blow.
But I could see it bringing him closer to Aaron and Victoria as they both help him recover.
We all know that Ryan would do a great job with it and do the story justice.
Rob reacting specifically to Vic touching his thigh is not making me any less sure this isn't a SA storyline...
Why are people saying that Robert dies. If the show had Ryan lie that he was back for good and then kills him off surely they would know the shitstorm that would come their way.
Because people on Twitter are catastrophizing as usual. There is a zero percent chance they went through all this trouble to get Ryan to agree to come back just to have John kill him, especially two weeks after his return. People are being ridiculous.
