One of our more slept on records is A Few Good Months. I really love this song. This was at the start of 2015 where we had.....a few good months

Every year an annual festival comes to Miami, and it’s not like an actual festival but it is a week full of networking, awesome parties and some of the best artists from every genre come to town for a week thus spawning Miami Music Week.

The energy is truly something else that time of year, music flowing everywhere in all kinds of waves, it’s really beautiful to be apart of.

Anyways, this record was a few months after all that. We had about 13 shows in the month of march and called it the March Madness Tour. We had a blast, we went on the west coast of Florida did a ton of Miami Music Week gigs and rocked every crowd we had placed before us.

This song is truly an ode to those handful of months, they were very significant. We learned a lot and met a ton of great new people who we still do work with today.

Toxic Thursday’s at The Chateau are just like any regular Thursday except.....Toxic.

This is the first offering from Comp with his Toxic Thursday mix series. The series ran about five weeks ranging with so many different styles of music from Jazz to hip-hop all the way to some fun neo soul.

The plan was to have a “Special Guest” appear in the studio with us every Thursday night and speak on the mic a little bit and rock out with us in high Distinguished fashion.

This one in particular I posted because it has my favorite track listing of all of them, I was the first special guest in the series (unintentionally) and it all worked very nicely.

Self Preservation was the actual first song that myself and comp made together. The beat was original called “Napoleons Land” and it was intended for a totally different tape called Sabbath Sessions.

I was at The Chateau one day with Comp and The Anthology and Comp showed me this beat, I had told him I was woeking on a new project called “The SelfiE.P”

It was a five track EP that revolved around the idea of SELF (see track listing) the ep actually did really great in the local scene, a ton of blogs wrote about it I did a ton of great gigs because of this album too.

But, out of all the tracks on this Ep this record was my favorite one. The hook is a cut from a Cormega line “Self Preservation Is The First Law Of Nature” and it echos through the whole track ending the EP on such a perfect note.

When I initially found out about Speek I was very excited to see something like this happening in the local community of Broward. Speek is as simple as it gets, set up a laptop and microphone in unison with a camera in the woods get a dope singer, emcee, poet ect behind the mic and start the show.

The man behind this genius is Matthew Kelly. He was the program director over at FAU radio and started taking artists to his private location that is the actual woods to shoot dope stuff like this.

He asked me if I wanted to be apart and of course I said yes, like why not. The verse was something that I had wrote specifically for this video so it was really special overall. There was about 8 people with us and I’m not going to lie I did get a tad bit nervous haha, took me about 4 actual tries to actual nail this so when I did it felt great.

If I’m not mistaken, I think I was the first one to do a video version of Speek. I think the ones prior to this were all audio only but nevertheless still an amazing concept and idea, check out the whole Speek series over on the Treemeeting youtube page

Recovery sessions happened on accident, Comp had this laptop that he made most of his music on during a ten year span. One day he went to make a jam and the laptop wouldn’t turn on.......A total crash!

Luckily with the help of some tech savy friends he found a way to grab all the old music that was on the laptop thus giving us Recovery Sessions. This 22 track mix gives us a wide range of sounds and voices.

Featuring some of Browards finest spitters Recovery Sessions truly takes you to a special place and it’s great to listen to ten years of beats and raps all compiled into one dope ass mix.

Frontal Lobes is the actual first offering off of All Things Considered which made it public about this new project. I really love this song and video not only due to the aesthetic but it packs a lot into such a short little song.

I don’t even think we were working on a project whe we created this but after hearing the beat I took it home and wrote to it. In only a few short hours the writing was complete.

I remember texting Comp the next morning telling him I finished writing and even he didn’t believe it haha. Shortly after we recorded it and really enjoyed what we had made.

I think this was the first push that put us in the direction of making this album, it all kind of happened out of nowhere (as the best things usually do)

After it was all said and done I hit up the man Daykuul aka Ricky Flare and sent him over the record. The vision I had for it was always something so up close and personal to give off what the vibe actually was.

We shot the video at my cousin Davids house in Coral Springs (in the kitchen lol) used these dope blue and red lights to kind of give it that police car lighting.

Just a snippet off the new EP coming out this summer with my soul brotha "Mr Compliment". Shout out Distinguished Chimps. Me and comp made this beat in 15 minutes recorded both verses today by Rapper

Sabbath freestyle could possibly be one of my favorite records we created in The Chateau.

The story was that the beat was made in 15 mins and we recorded the track right after. If only.......That would have been a hell of a story considering how dope this track actually is.

but....

The beat stems from one of Comps warm up tracks he was just messing with and I think Sin and I just started busting freestyles over it and we all liked the way it sounded and we recorded it. What happened was we all went home and listened to the freestyles. Sin’s was exceptional while (in all honesty) mine lacked the flavor and punch his delivered after about 10 or 15 run throughs

Take into consideration this is one of my first times in The Chateau actually being apart of the creative process so I really wanted to make a great first impression. The guys convinced me to take it home and write a little something to it.

The second I walked in the door I put everything to the side and just focused on this verse until it was perfect. It never really turned out perfect but it did justice and everybody loved it.

The night after is when we recorded it and it came out great, got a ton of great love on particular local blogs and is something we still perform till this day.

Me and my best friend Leila recorded this footage in Little Haiti, Miami. We had no intentions of using the footage for the video Kansas, we were just filmin...

Kansas native and now L.A resident and future Unfold Records signee, Bibi Borja and I met a year and a half ago in South Florida, I was lucky enough to stumble upon her Instagram where she had a few vids of herself singing and I was mesmerized by her voice.

Later I was introduced to her formally by a mutual friend and told her how I already knew who she was and wanted to work with her (research rules) she was up for it and I booked her for our Live @ The BBQ version of Resonance.

After that Her and I did another show together in Ft. Lauderdale called “Broken Promises” at The Gallery Of Amazing Things, this is where I knew that she was somebody who I wanted to make music with.

Since her move to LA she has done a few notable gigs and has made a ton of beautiful records which I have had the pleasure of engineering and helping her mix

South Florida’s production duo, The Distinguished Chimps, proudly present the Chimp Cast Volume 1. A collection of works featuring up and coming artists such as SIN ,Neopopsicle, Mercy, Platini, Chie

Chimpcast Vol 1 resonated exceptionally well within Broward County, topping out around 4400 plays and filled with an all star cast, just by looking at the line up you already knew it was going to be a classic before you even listened.

I actually found out about Comp (Mr. Compliment) through Chimpcast Vol 1. A friend of mine had showed me the album in it’s podcast like form and I was instantly hooked.

The blend of songs really did it for me, the arrangement couldn’t have been better. Vocal features by NeoPopsicle and Eliza Smiles really give this tape it’s soul. On top of that Comp really comes through on the production, the beats are what really seperate this from one of those random mixtapes your home-boy drops and a actual thought out piece of art.

Future sounds was our second offering to the world since we started making music together. This EP was actually really hard to make cause it was only three songs and we had so many great songs and beats created during the time we were working on this project.

The highlight of this record is obviously No Longer featuring Amanda Nieves, she lent to her voice to use one evening and we totally created magic. We were happy.

I remember Comp and I did a show in Miami and it was our event called Resonance and this was one of Amanda’s first times on stage and when comp first dropped the beat she got a little spooked and missed her part haha, he replayed it and she got it so right, once the beat dropped the crowd went crazy and we commenced a killer duo

Also during the creation of this EP we were performing so muchit kind of got us dizzy so some of the content on here ranges.

This is the first project we ever worked on together, it took us only two short months to write, produce, mix, master, arrange and edit.

We came up with the concept and got right to work, tireless nights were had creating this.

We got lucky enough to snag Emily Cleary on “Sun Rays For Sun Ra” a mellow monotone record tat was dedicated to one of the best jazz muscians in the world.

Jazzersize is exactly what it sounds like, a Jazz infused hip hop record. Only topping out at 8 songs we packed a serious punch with this one

I remember when we first introduced this album to the scene, people didn’t really get it at first but then they started to come along once we were out and about performing the record so much that people really began to love it.

With twenty (plus) combined years in music, Mr. Compliment (left) and Rapper Rich (Right) have been creating and performing together since early 2014. Since then they have done over one hundred live performances (together) and have released two projects JaZZersiZe and Future Sounds.

Their new project All Things Considered could be the best one to date, with features from Browards own SIN and also a song from L.A based and future Unfold Records signee Bibi Borja. WLRN’S own Tracy Fields also makes an appearence, but lets not give away to much.

The two co owners are excited for the future, the creation of this label has opened many new doors for the funk/soul/hip-hop duo. Many thanks to all who have participated in our journey, you are all remembered
