   { eyes rodgers, 21, cis-female, she + her } || EDIE SATO  is a mutant with the ability of PSIONIC ENERGY MANIPULATION. they’ve been in new york for FIVE YEARS where they spend most of their time as PHARMACIST. when i think of them, i think of FALLING STARS IN EYES , COUNTING CLOUDS IN THE SKY & DROPS OF JUPITER IN ATMOSPHERE.

   HOKKAIDO. november 17 , 1976. chihiro edith sato , is born at the height of snow season & would be told tales of being born with a frozen solid heart. she’s her mother’s first born child & her father’s fifth , with the other four residing back in his native country of jamaica. eds practically oozed charisma even as just a baby , quickly becoming her daycare’s most popular attendee , among staff & students alike.

   HOKKAIDO & MANDEVILLE. a gifted child through & through , she excelled in all aspects of her academics. staying top of her class all throughout elementary & junior high school. particularly gifted in science & maths , she was always hungry for a challenge. eager to prove that she was no ordinary human. turns out she wasn’t human at all. between both parents , they’re unsure of where eds’ gift was passed along from. not even any of her siblings from her father’s side , were gifted an ability. let alone one as perplex & unique as their daughter’s. & unlike most heard of cases of mutants devolving their powers little by little , eds was hit with the entire package , at once. days before her eleventh birthday , they manifest in the blink of an eye. an unmeasurable surge of energy expelled itself from her , causing the destruction within the radius of the playground she’d been playing at. suddenly she’s able to hear what others thought , feel what they felt, move objects & so on. it was overwhelming to say the least & at the time she had no way of controlling it. it took many trial & errors , before she was able to master her gift.

   MANDEVILLE & NEW YORK. by the time she was fifteen , edie knew her abilities through & through. it was also at this time , the sato family had decided to pack up & leave for mandeville , jamaica. mainly her dad’s idea. figured it was time for eds & her mom , to meet his other family. this is where her true character began to shine through. something no one saw coming. in the year spent on the caribbean island , her thirst for knowledge grew. festering until she left for college , in new york. edie studied medicine & chemistry , specializing in pharmaceutical practices.

   HIGHLIGHTS. edie works as a pharmacist at a high end research facility , using it as a cover to fund her own business. using her powers to her advantage , she takes stolen medication & drugs , dealing them for nearly three times their actual price. the money that’s pulled from this , is used for her own personal experiments. she wants to develop a pill that when swallowed , can greatly enhance what ability a mutant may have. even temporarily grant average humans , with an untapped ability.

   POSSIBLE CONNECTS. lackey(s). someone(s) she can easily manipulate with or without the use of her abilities , to further her study along. / roommate. couldn’t or could know about her side hustle , maybe wants to join in? / willing or unwilling test subjects. / (best ) friend(s). just because she’s got an agenda , doesn’t mean she has to be friendless. people seem to naturally gravitate towards. / hook ups & flings. eds swings literally any & all ways , if someone is intriguing enough to hold her attention , consider her attracted. / anything else we could plot out!

   ᴊᴏꜱᴇᴘʜ​:

         after a brief nod, joseph takes the bag and heads out to complete the transaction. it’s smooth, particularly given edie’s influence, and sooner than later they’re back at the meeting spot in question, waiting for her arrival. when she does make an appearance, they lift a hand in greeting. “all finished, no trouble. is that all you needed from me?”

   efficiency is something eds likes to pride herself on & that’s exactly how every transaction goes , whenever she sends them out. though it’s a tough pill to swallow , she isn’t perfect. complications arise here & there. “ nope! need ya’ to go along & keep up an act. ” speaks hurriedly, removing the pack from his hands. shoving slip of paper into them in place of it. “you’re ‘ere to pick up a prescription & got turned around , understand? i was trynna help & showed you this shortcut. that’s what ya’ tell that nosey security guard out there , when he asks. ” is all the warning she gives , before practically shoving joseph out the door.

   ᴊᴀᴄᴋ:

         jack can’t get his gloves off fast enough. before he has the time to properly react, her shield is pinning him up against the bricks—she’s a bit stronger than he’s been expecting. still, this isn’t the first time he’s been trapped by someone, and his instincts serve him well. bare fingers plunge into the wall behind him, red stone crawling its way up his arms. if he can just get enough to—but she’s faster than anticipated, too. while his focus is on eating through brick, her influence is allowed to creep into his brain. relax for me, tough guy. he doesn’t want to, but he’s forced to obey. the brick is expelled back into the wall. obediently—eyes burning with hatred—jack swallows. “get off me,” he growls, but there’s no force behind his words—there can’t be.

   she doesn’t bother with fighting off the smug smirk that finds place at mouth , throwing a cheeky wink his way as she steps back. “ see. that wasn’t so hard now , was it? now don’t go an’ start t’worry ‘bout it , should only mildly enhance whatever it is ya’ do , temporarily. you ain’t the first of my lil’ guinea pigs & my supplier assured people trials are a-okay! ” head tilts at an angle to examine him , finger tapping her chin. “ not sure how long it’s 'posed to take .... feelin’ anythin’ funny or tingly? ”

        before they has time to protest, edie has stepped across the floor and blocked their only exit. shit. shit, shit, shit. what is he going to do now? they don’t have time to wonder before her powers work their magic, sending their free-willed mind far off into the corners of their consciousness. “we’re good,” he says, voice obedient and pupils tinged a deep red. “i’ll trade this off for payout. same place as last time?”

   takes a step back to inspect work , being certain that her gift has taken affect. giddy smile graces her features at their compliance , as she extends the nifty little pack for them. “ correct! same place as last time , kermit! ya’know the drill. product is in the big pocket & monies go into the little pocket. exact amount only & i’m sure yah got the rest. meet me back at our spot once you’ve finished the run. ”

         “they might. you’re not worth the trouble of finding out.” really, she’s lucky it’s slow right now or he would already have thrown her out of the line. as it stands… there is no line. there’s some amusement at the thought she could force him to do anything, but all that shows on his face is pure, unfiltered annoyance. “look, i don’t care what you’re trying to give away. if you think for a minute that you can force anything on me, you’re dreaming. and one of these days, you’ve got to wake up. you want to make it tonight? be my guest.”

   head tilts at presented challenge as awfully wicked smile , forms across lips. “ okay. if you say so , sure. ” quick glance around to be certain there won’t be an audience & she’s stepping forward casually. choosing to rather be safe than sorry , shield is projected in means to pin him forcibly against brick exterior. fingers move to push the little red pill to his mouth & other flicks encouraged influence , to his thoughts. “ relax for me , tough guy. you’re really helpin’ a buddy out ‘ere , thanks. swallow the pill & then forget about it. ”

“It would if city records were part of the library and not the archives. Best I can do is give you pen and paper.” It’s an explanation she’s had to give a million times. No, the public could not take sensitive documents home at the risk of said documents coming back. It seemed like common sense to her, but it was never mutual. Clearly, this isn’t going to be a pleasant interaction. “Right, sorry, this way,” She said, leading the way towards the archives.

   “ oh yeah , pen & paper. let me just write down everything so i got my own copy , to be referrin’ at. that’ll only take me days , not a problem. ” snarks back , arms crossing over chest. still , she follows along after her. briefly wonders if she should just take materials anyway & try to wipe the femme’s memory clean. “ so tell me , if they’re so worried over not havin’ the stuff sent back , why have it all? m’guessin’ it’s why yah can’t take ‘em home? ”

“Did ya’ go trick or treating or are you ‘too old’ for that?”

   “ the fuck sorta question is that , did i go trick or treating. did you buy a new costume this year? or did plan on stickin’ with that ugly face of yours? ” almost as if insults are the only way she’s able to speak with , even if she’s generally curious. “ went hoppin’ the bars with the fake i got & tried spiking people’s with this cool little pill i developed. ”

         none of this makes any sense to them, save for one fact—there’s very clearly something sinister going on. “what are you talking about?” as they speak, they steadily back up closer to the wall. they need to get out of her. right now. but how does he get to the door without her stopping him? “i… i think i need to get some air.”

   “ question time is over , sweetuhms. we got a deadline to keep & i ain’t missin out on monies, just cause you’re  a lil wuss. ” tiring of the their uncertainty , eds opts to close the distance between them. mist shrouded hand moves to feed wanted action to mind. “ no more questions & no more dramatics. you’re takin’ this baggie & trading it off for payout. once that’s all put away & done , i’ll answer anymore of your questions. are we good? ”

Finley was in no particular mood to deal with anyone, let alone someone who decided to snap at her like a dog. But, it was with pitfalls of her job, she supposed. “City records are kept in the archives, and are public record. You can’t take them home, though, if that’s what you’re wanting.” She scanned the bookcases. “I don’t think you’re going to find anything to help you break the law. Probably just a list of laws that exist.” She supposed that she should be more concerned, but it sounded like an awful lot more energy than she was willing expend. 

   “ sorta defeats the whole purpose of a library , don’t’cha think? i’m 'posed to remember everythin’ with my photographic memory or what? think i’m ‘posed to blink my eyes like a camera shutter & magically store the image in my head? ” it’s evident what sort of a mood she’s in. why not ruin someone else’s day as well , shouldn’t be just her having a shit day. “ well aren’t yah just a peach , helpin’ me out so well. ” every word drips itself in her bitter sarcasm as she moves to brush past the worker & more into the building. “ plannin’ on sharin’ which way it is to the archives , or stand there waitin’ for the cobwebs to form. ”

         “you realize that just makes it more suspicious, right?” there’s probably nothing about the white, little pill that’s going to do any actual damage—how can you poison something that can suck the toxins right back out of their bloodstream?—but that doesn’t mean he’s interested in wasting his time on it. “and i don’t know if you’re aware, but i do actually have an interest in keeping my job. risking it for your little party pill isn’t in my plans for the night.” a beat. “i don’t even know what you think they’re supposed to do for me.”

   “ oh , come off it. like they’d fire you over havin’ a lil bit of fun , don’t act like you’re a goody two shoes , all of a sudden. ” he’s being annoyingly difficult. what was the use in wanting to test her product , if she lacked the bodies to do so? being able to bend others to her willing was such a gift & one she’s fully prepared to use on jack. “ look , my guy. imma be honest. you’re gonna be swallowin’ this little goodie of mine. wether it’s by choice or with a lil bit of force. ”

“no,” noah’s response was fast and it was incredibly blunt, which was somewhat unusual for him. but then again he never messed around when it came to mutant rights. it occurred to him that edie might be joking, however, it wasn’t something he was willing to joke about. “it’s not about fun, it’s about doing whats right. about justice.”

   “ oh .... well , when you say it like that .... it still sounds borin’ as fuck. you’re not helpin’ whatever case you’re trynna make. ” eds tosses scraps of paper into the air with flourish , crossing arms over her chest. “ we been know justice is something you’ve gotta go & get yourself , not just by standin’ out on the street yellin’. ” points out , equally as blunt. “ want me to go & blow something up or what? cause this is such a buzzkill. ”

   it’d been weeks , probably closed to month. edie thought she’d finally plunged off the deep end into loony-bin , first hearing the literal random voice ringing in & out. now here she is in front of the record shop , finally pinpointing the source. “ so it’s you , i’m hearing! you don’t know how to shut up even in your thoughts , good god. it’s just nonstop rambles anytime i’m near this area , are you good? ”

   “ ayy , miss. over here , patron in need of assistance. ” sentence is punctuated with an impatient snap of fingers. “ took our time didn’t we , doll-face. where do you keep city records & are they able for checking out. oh! & , you got a section with any law materials. preferably how to break it without , being caught. ”

         there really isn’t an end to the shit he goes through, is there? everyone and their mother is trying to make deals to get into the club, even when there’s no strict necessity to do so. as it happens, she’s not the first drug peddler he’s seen tonight. and not the first he knows, either. “if you wanted to sell me something, you should have waited until after i’m off the clock,” he grumbles, arms crossed over his chest. “i’m not risking my job for whatever snake oil you’ve got.”

   “ never said nothin about sellin , dumb-dumb! these are exclusively free & just for you! ” she pulls a face at his response , arms gesturing around the practically empty space. “ we’re almost the only ones out here , one. two , you’re a bouncer. it ain’t that serious , now! taking it the normal way or do i gotta wrap it in a treat & help to pretend? ” fingers through the little baggie to pull one out , reaching to shove it in his face. “ come on , open up. a lil party , never killed no one. ”

         there’s something familiar about this scene—edie’s behavior indicates as much—but joseph has no recollection that she’s ever given them a job. “edie,” he starts, uneasy. have her eyes always been like that? he can’t even remember them mentioning a mutation… “what are you talking about? a job? i’ve… i’ve already got one.” a pause, horror mounting. “you’ve been fucking with my head?”

   “ nope! you’ve got two , yah ding-dong! ” as if it were the most obvious explanation to ever be given. she’s got zero time for this though & they’re asking far too many questions. “ oh , foodles. i wasn’t supposed to expose myself ..... not an issue , what’s another fake memory! should start makin pins for yah , for each time. be awfully adorable , don’t ya think? ”
