rosy - Gasoline (feat. LILMONEY)
If I had to define the sound of my 2017 thus far, it would definitely be rosy. I have literally fallen in love with everything about her aesthetic from her breathy, etheral vocals to the often minimal backing tracks that compliment the urging, pining lyrics. "Gasonline" is no different - a downtempo covetous track with a fantastic lilmoney feature - it is desire manifested in 3 minutes 06 seconds.
i.No - Alone (Feat. EXN)
i.No and EXN makes for a dream combination (Though to be honest anyone with EXN is enough to make my heart flutter). Beats bounce and undulate while i.No's broad voice hops from note to note (sometimes with the help of autotune) until EXN wondrously flutters in - carrying the song to it's swell - an abrupt finale that keeps you wanting more.
GaEun Lee - Nightmare
The past month has felt like a haze - an exhausting array of emotions that I cannot wrap my head around. While not in the same category of trials and tribuliations, GaEun Lee's "Nightmare" feels like a celestial, yearning manifestation of torment. Pining, eager for contact - until she resigns to a breathy announcemnt of defeat. It's all a dream/Nightmare
Absint - Nocturnal (야행성) ft. Osean
Still in the midst of midterms and waiting for soundcloud or tumblr or whatever to fix the linking issues, I'm going to throw this one in as a bonus. Very radio friendly (not that it's a bad thing), "Nocturnal" is the type of jam that you'd play while driving around, or (in my case) studying. It's got enough of an infectious beat to keep you hooked. Press repeat and go. 🔥🔥🔥
세빛(Sebit) - Cold Heated (feat. Lil AArd)
Today’s track presented without commentary is a collab track from 세빛(Sebit) & Lil AArd. To be honest, I’m wondering if the actual title track is supposed to be cold hearted since the hook is “You're so cold hearted, baby/You're so cold hearted”. Whatever the right title is, I’m feeling this.
Yeri X no2zcat - Wanna be yours (feat.UNE)
Taking a quick break from studying for midterms by posting this track from the First Kawaii Compilation Vol.1 featuring lots of fantastic korean artists (alongside faves YESEO & y u n j i). I don't have much to say in the terms of the track (I have too many terms & definitions floating around right now) but with Yeri on the track, you know it's going to be a winner. Saturday's track featured without much commentary is k.vsh's "repeat (ft. bevy maco)". It's a fantastic future krnb track with dreamy, ascending vocal oh-la-las.

My favorite type of discovery are the quiet gems that completely floor you. The type of songs that you wonder why it hasn't truly blown up yet. "Hold Me Tight" is a stellar KRNB with high quality production, soaring falsetto of longing, and the right amount of autotune. Basslines thump and pound while he croons, "Baby hold me tight tonight/I just wanna know you". 🔥🔥🔥

“Show my ★” by Kumira (feat. EXN) is a short but sweet laid back number. With half languid, quasi-hushed singing and more purposeful crooning, the song ends before it could fully reach an apex - leaving you wanting more.
I’m not sure if “Blossom” is a collab track with Yeri or who exactly she is - but I do know that I’m 100% smitten. Yeri appears to be part of a collective (purple escape) which she lends her ethereal, airy vocals to, along with her production skill. She appears on tracks like Jdgrow's "Take My Phone" (below). On top of that, she's also released her own sublimely chill songs like "Ocean" that has a very infectious city pop vibe to it. Whoever Yeri is, I'm enamored.
Summer Soul teams up with Nuiance for this downtempo yet somewhat bubbly number. During the instrumental breaks, the synths seem to percolate and ripple - slowly ascending into bliss.

Toyo’s newly released single, “Cashmere,” hits all the right notes. I’m not quite sure when the transition from instrumental to vocals occurred but it’s such a welcome change. The vocals on these tracks are everything I adore - breathy, whispery, female vocals with a touch of playfulness and longing. From the downtempo opening to the jersey-club kissed finale, Toyo is definitely one to watch for.💦💦💦

Pretty much any song by rosy gets a post here on U/R. “Damn, if you didn’t want me back” features more of her signature vocals - her breathy soft vocals that just make me feel like I’m gliding - coupled with a slow, driving rnb type beat that borders on bedroom and nu-type. And when she croons, you cannot help but feel the sense of yearning and hesitation in her voice. 🌹🌹🌹

EXN kills me every time she releases a new track; I absolutely adore everything about her voice. From the impish samples scattered throughout that accompany the low-pitched vocalizations to her animated squeaks of excitement (not to mention that wonderfully placed statement of “damn”) - “OK” is pure gold. 🌹🌹🌹

Another weekend, another track presented without much commentary. This collab track between pop duck & small kidd is pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Booming bass, trap claps, and flows that float on the beat, “Newspeed” is highly recommended.
At first, the thought of posting a song called “subway sandwich” seemed a bit peculiar to me. There was nothing wrong with the music - the vibe was quite nice, and twlv’s soft, silky vocals are always welcome - it was merely the thought of singing along to “subway sandwich, baby”. Once you realize the mention of the chain is a simile for the mundaneness of his life, the hook makes a lot more sense. He sees the same faces, has the same conversation, has the same day, day in and out, and it’s tiresome - it’s as predictable as a subway sandwich. Subway has never sounded this fresh....
