Law & Order: SVU 19.10 – "Pathological"
Remember, a solarpunk future without support for the disabled population is just green-washed ableism.
A solarpunk future that doesn't include (or purposely excludes) Indigenous/PoC populations is just green-washed white supremacy/colonialism.
A solarpunk future that doesn't feed the hungry or house the poor is just green-washed capitalism.
Solarpunk is more than just an aesthetic. It's a hope for a better future for everyone.
names not numbers
The Palestinian Ministry of Health released a report on Thursday, including the names of more than seven thousand Palestinians who were martyred in the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Red color highlights 0-4 years old age group
Green color highlights age group 5-17
White color highlights the age group between 18 and 59 years old
Gray color highlights the age group over 60
These are not just names, but people killed in the midst of a brutal war. Remember their names.

DANA LEWIS REDEMPTION EPISODE PLEASE I BEG OF THESE PEOPLE
For real, I would happily pretend the whole of SVU2.0 never happened if the new showrunner wants to just bring her back like nothing’s wrong.
Dana Lewis and Olivia Benson fucked.
They were/are fuck buddies and nothing will change my mind
After 12x8 (Penetration) of SVU on rewatch, I have so much freaking love for Dana Lewis (and like to pretend what they did to her character in 2.0 didn’t happen). Anyhow, this is more an essay on trauma response:
Woman is a badass who drives a motorcycle, chases down fascists and Nazis, has a secret husband and kids whom she loves dearly, and has a great sense of humor. Idk why SVU had to ruin such a badass with the jealous ex plot. Now for the long part on trauma response:
What this episode brought out though, was immense vulnerability, that we have not seen in Dana Lewis. In the shock of what happened to her, she got a rape kit done, but only to find out what case had been compromised. Which explains why she was a very non compliant survivor. Elliot mentions at one point “what you fragile?” And the thing is, she is fragile and vulnerable. Strong badass people can be fragile and vulnerable as well. Dana Lewis is hiding that though, and still in denial so she can bring down terrorists.
Later on you see her making rash choices (anger). She tries to shoot the man who r*ped her, yells at Elliot and Olivia, and becomes deeply abrasive. But when it really hits you that she is vulnerable and broken, is that court room scene where she starts out matter of fact and then dissolved into tears and pain when she finally acknowledges what happened. You can see the point where it finally hits her. After, when she confronts the mastermind, she gives a speech on healing but as she turns around and walks away, it is clear it is just a show.
I hope that she got therapy, and love and comfort from her spouse or frankly anyone else. As someone who worked in a male dominated field, I 1000% understand the “not proper trauma response” and needing to hide everything.
Anyhow, Dana Lewis is a goddamn icon who deserved better, and exemplifies denial and hiding trauma so freaking well. If anyone wants to take this and write a hurt/comfort fanfic about it, they should run with it.
Something I don’t think enough people recognize when it comes to making shows more diverse, there is so much going on behind the scene that you literally can’t “just add them.”
Alex Hirsch had to wait until the end of Gravity Falls to show that Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland were in love so that way the show didn’t get prematurely cancelled. And even still, that was censored in other countries.
________
The Owl House has a bisexual afro Latina protagonist that falls in love with a white lesbian. They kiss several times on screen and say “my awesome girlfriend.” It also has Disney’s first nonbinary character (Raine Whispers), their bisexual love interest (Eda Clawthorne), and an aro/ace woman (Lilith Clawthorne). However, because like five people said that TOH wasn’t the “Disney brand” the show is prematurely cancelled. So even with everything that TOH did, it only won battle but lost the war.
________
The art crew for Encanto had to fight to make Luisa buff. And when they were finally able to make her buff, Disney didn’t make as much Luisa merchandise because they thought little girls would want Mirabel or Isabela’s since they’re more “feminine.” (I think the same thing happened with Namaari when RATLD came out but I’m not sure. So don’t quote me on that.)
*Also, Luisa out preformed. So that’s a win.
________
Bubblegum and Marceline couldn’t kiss until the series finale of Adventure Time because it would’ve been cancelled. So throughout the entire series, the crew always just had to imply undertones about their past. Since HBO produced Obsidian, they were able to kiss on screen.
________
Korra and Asami’s relationship had to tempt down so that way Nick could continue airing the show and they weren’t allowed to kiss until the comics.
________
Turning Red got so much unwarranted criticism because not only did Mei’s mom say “pads” but she showed them on screen. (I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if that made you uncomfortable, that’s a sign that we need to do this more and not less.)
________
Some countries marked She Ra as 18+ because Catra and Adora kissed on screen. (Once again, I’m not sure if this completely true but Nate Stevenson had to fight to actually show them kissing on screen instead of a fade to white.)
________
Steven Universe is the gayest show I’ve ever seen in my life which was both good and bad. It was good for obvious reasons. Example being that it was the first show that introduced to me nonbinary people in a way that wasn’t “haha, look, she uses they/them pronouns. She’s so funny and quirky.”
And it’s bad because it put a target on it’s back. SU has been censored so much that it’s honestly a miracle that we got an ending. And in most of the countries that censored SU, they usually portray Ruby as a man. So I can’t imagine how bad the censors were when the wedding happened and Ruby wore a dress and Sapphire wore a suit.
________
Also, you have to remember the outdated idea that gay/trans topics are “too mature” for kids to handle (there’s an episode of Adam Ruins Everything that talks about this). So it’s easier for shows with an older audience (like Arcane) to have queer/trans rep.
Not to mention, if you ever go on Insider’s website to look at the queer/trans characters in cartoons [here], most of the characters are revealed to be queer only online and not in the actual show.
________
All of this BS because God forbid that kids find out that other people exist.
Representation is important but please, just be aware of the actually struggles that go on that you don’t see and be thankful that this is where we are now because even though it might seem like it at times remember that this is actual progress. We need to keep pushing studios to do more. I’m sure that there’s millions of untold stories that would be made if not for this prejudice.
I believe Snape is autistic
(FYI: I’m autistic myself and I have autistic children.)
He’s lonely. He doesn’t really have friends. We know of Lily, we also hear about Lucius Malfoy, but we don’t really see their friendship which in my opinion is much less close than fans believe. As a student he’s so alone that no one but Lily tries to stop the bullying.
He doesn’t participate in any social meetings. He’s quite miserable during the Christmas in Harry’s third year. He patrols the corridors and the grounds instead of attending the Yule Ball. He doesn’t stay for dinner after the Order meetings. He only attends the DE meetings because he has to.
His peers at school think he’s weird. Lily’s friends from Gryffindor don’t understand why she’s friends with him. When Harry asks why the Marauders bullied him, Sirius says he was different, weird, he was an "oddball". Autistic children and teenagers are often bullied because they are perceived as not normal, awkward, weird.
He doesn’t make a normal eye contact, he stares a bit too much. It can be partly explained by Legillimency, but he stared too much even as a teenager.
There’s a diffeence between how he speaks as a teenager and as an adult. It doesn’t sound entirely natural, he definitely had to put effort into that. It’s partly because he doesn’t want to sound like a poor man with a northern (?) accent, but autistic struggle with fluent communication may also be a reason.
He’s quite rude. He might be just *evil*, but he may just not fully understand how cruel he actually sounds. From his point of view he’s just honest and doesn’t beat around the bush. OK, maybe he’s a little mean, but not cruel… right?
He uses sarcasm (a lot of autistics actually do), but he doesn’t really appreciate Harry’s and other people’s sass, he treats their words too seriously.
He usually speaks coldly / calmly / without much emotion.
He’s usually dispassionate, he has limited facial expressions. Many autistic people also have a "resting b!tch face" unless they try to look more "normal". Perhaps he isn’t always as hateful as Harry thinks, perhaps it’s just his face.
He seems a little oblivious to other people’s emotional state and seems to analyse their behavior more intellectually.
He has special interests: Dark Arts / DADA and Potions.
His Potions ingredients must be very orderly, he knows immediately that something is missing and what it is.
He "loves" rules. Students are breaking the rules? He takes points or gives detention. The Marauders are bullying him? He wants them expelled. (While Harry deals with the bullies on his own.) He’s caught Sirius whom he believes to be responsible for Lily’s death? He’s going to hand him over to the Ministry and the Dementors. (While Sirius and Remus want to murder Peter themselves.)
Since Snape likes rules and order, Harry who is a bit wild and unpredictable annoys him.
He doesn’t wash his hair as often as he should. It could be partly because of his poor background (he was neglected, he wasn’t taught to take a proper care of his hair, he didn’t even have a real bathroom as a child), partly because he has no one to look nice for, partly because of the Potions fumes. Autism might make him care less about his appearance. (He does care about hygiene though. Apparently he shaves regularly and Harry would certainly notice if Snape was dirty or smelly. His sallow skin and teeth have nothing to do with hygiene, it’s a result of his poverty and malnutrition.)
During the Occlumency lessons he’s touching his lips with his finger while he’s thinking.
He has some sensory issues. He wears the same, a little baggy robes (they flutter as he walks). He’s sensitive to light: his Potions classroom is dim (it’s in the dungeons, but he could brighten it up with magic); he makes his DADA classroom dim, even though it’s no longer in the dungeons; when Harry comes to his first Occlumency lesson, Snape waits for him in a dark room. (You know, people don’t do things like that because they’re evil, it doesn’t make sense).
John Nettleship whom Snape was partly based on was probably autistic.
Whoever is threatening Harry is about to learn ‘an object in motion, stays in motion unless acted upon by another force’ via a sleep deprived, nicotine addicted professor, with homicidal tendencies.
Ok some more bullshit for twitter refugees who need to learn the Tumblr Etiquettetm
Change your blog icon. Do not leave it as Tumblr default bc you will be seen as bots. Also helps if you change your URL to something fandom related/unhinged. urls like sarah-x-lynn will cause people to think you are a bot and block you
There's no algorithm. Whatever pops up on your dash is yours to deal with. Unfollow/block people as you please.
Again, there's no algorithm. The content on this site is user-circulated. Abuse the reblog button.
Abuse the tags. If there's something you wanna say on a post but don't want to intrude, use the tags.
Follower numbers don't matter here
There's no character limit on posts or in blog descriptions. You can post the bee movie script 50 times if you want. Go ham
This isn't twitter or tik tok or whatever. There's no need to censor yourself. Outright admit you want to kill a us senator, no one will judge you.
If you're gonna trigger tag something, don't censor it. Don't use like #r/pe tw use #rape tw
Lastly, don't be a dick to people. Abuse the block button for all it's worth.
‘children should not be exposed to literature about bigotry, violence, etc because they’re Not Prepared For It’ is like one of the most privileged opinions you can possibly have. i hate to tell you this but a lot of children face bigotry and violence in their daily lives! for children of colour and children who are victims of abuse and children in poverty, these things are Actually Happening to them In Real Life! what you are advocating for when you say children should be shielded from these things in media is for the white children with stable loving nuclear families to be shielded from acknowledging the lived realities of their peers!
I saw an experimental standup show by a comedian (his name is Corey White tho he’s not active anymore) who talked extensively about the neglect he experienced in his family of origin and then the sexual abuse and violence he went through in the foster system etc, and at the end he was talking about getting a scholarship to attend a private school. He found The Metamorphosis by chance on the shelves in the library when he was like 15? And when he read it, he saw this character, Gregor, and how he was rejected totally by his family for something that wasn’t at all his fault, and yet his love for them was constant and unconditional.
And being a fifteen year old boy who’d been brutalized his whole life by the people who were meant to care for him, for no reason at all, Corey broke down and cried in the middle of the library. And obviously this stuck with him because he was given this national platform (an hour-long stand up special) and he finished it with this memory. That story and the message he took from it stayed with him long into adulthood, he said suddenly he didn’t feel totally alone in his experience as an abused child. Who would deny a young person that kind of catharsis??
People have even gotten to the point where they’re saying that children can’t experience stories about death, as if death is something “too grim” and “too upsetting” for a child to possibly understand. But children are exposed to death all the time. Children have grandparents who die, parents who die, siblings who die, friends who die, and they know what it’s like go go through that grief. Overall, to act like childhood (which people paint with a very broad brush, sometimes they mean six-year-olds and sometimes they mean middle schoolers?) is a period of complete and total innocence and that children never experience any suffering, any grief, any bigotry, is really deliberately ignorant. People are talking about a fictional, idealized, archetypal Childhood and fictional, idealized, archetypal Children who are nothing but innocence have never experienced any kind of suffering
Books are being banned and removed from library shelves. This is a very bad thing. I was one of the authors who protested. I would have protested even if my book hadn't have been one of the books banned.
Missouri book bans include graphic adaptations of the Bible and the Gettysburg Address, as well as Art Spiegelman's Maus and Margaret Atwood
some severus hcs i feel particularly strongly about
he is bisexual, i will not hear a word against it
like harry, sev used to accidentally grow his hair longer whenever tobias tried to cut it. as an adult, he has it sort of armpit-length, because it’s symbolic of his bodily autonomy, it allows him to hide behind those curtains, it sets him apart from the hegemonic, short-haired men that surround him, and, quite simply, it just looks cool
he’s actually very good with kids- like little kids, anything from newborns to when they’re around 7-8, but when they start to develop magic, personalities, and agency, he doesn’t even know what to do with them
if he really had to pick, percy would be his favourite weasley kid
on the topic of the weasleys, molly is one of the few order members he can actually stand to be around; he respects her attempts at controlling her brats and, though he’d never admit it, he does enjoy the way she fusses over him everytime he comes to a meeting looking particularly sickly…as long as it’s not in front of too many people. plus, she’s a very skilled potioneer, and severus finds that it’s a nice change to chat to someone who knows and cares abt potions beyond mandatory lessons
growing up, he loved dc comics, especially batman. he’s a real comic book snob, doesn’t enjoy any adaptation, and is thrilled when he gets to confiscate a marvel comic from potter during class
when they were 14, he and lily decided to give each other stick and poke tattoos. she had a slightly shaky snake in the shape of an S behind her right ear, and he has a wonky, now faded, lily behind his left
he listens to copious amounts of the smiths
he has a soft spot for luna- he respects how blunt she is, even when it’s directed at him (although that doesn’t mean it doesn’t irritate him too), and he slightly over-punishes anyone who calls her loony. it’s personal.
when he started teaching, he decided to maybe make a bit of an effort- “new ideology, new me” sort of thing. unfortunately the majority of his students knew him as a student, some of the 5th-7th years had witnessed his worst memory, and that first day of teaching was the last time he ever bothered being nice to those snarky little teenagers

Headcanon: Patronuses represent not just your happiest memories, but your personality and your core values. And Snape’s patronus is not a direct embodiment of Lily. It’s more complex than that.
Patronuses are a topic I’ve been circling around for months since I knew I was going to address them in a fic I was writing.
There are characters like Tonks who have a patronus that’s quite literal – she’s in love with a werewolf and her patronus becomes a wolf. But most characters have more ambiguous/symbolic patronuses – like Hermione’s otter, or Ron’s Jack Russell terrier.
Looking at patronuses as symbolic of what each character most values: Hermione’s otter represents cleverness and playfulness. Ron’s dog represents loyalty and protection. Hermione is very clever, she values this trait in herself and others, and I think that one of the secret things that attracts her to Ron is his playfulness. The way he makes her laugh and has the ability to surprise her. Ron comes from a big family and is very loyal to and protective of his family and his friends – he’s a pack animal. I think their patronuses represent their personalities and what drives them very well, and I don’t think either Hermione and Ron would ever change to have matching patronuses.
I actually agree with Snape that Tonks’s patronus changing to a literal wolf for Remus is not healthy. (Though Snape was a total jerk telling her his unsolicited opinion on her patronus. No one asked you, dude.) There’s no nuance in this patronus or any reminder of other things that give her hope — family, friends — the wolf represents a totally singleminded focus on Remus that erases everything else in her life. Which is understandable considering her emotional state — she hasn’t accepted their breakup and she’s fixated on making him understand how much she loves him. But fact is Tonks and her patronus are in a bad place.
Which brings me to Snape. I think people see Tonks’ patronus change to a wolf to represent Remus and decide that Snape’s patronus must also *literally* and *directly* represent Lily. But… Remus *is* a literal wolf. Lily is not an animagus or a mythical faun or any other deer-like creature (as far as we know).
I think that the stag and doe patronuses of Snape, Lily, James, and Harry all represent their own personalities and the core of who each character is. Deer are a symbol of peace, which is what all four of these characters deeply desire – to be able to live in peace.
For James and Harry, the stag also represents strength and instinct – their bravery and they way they both tend to go with their gut. For Snape and Lily, the doe represents innocence, gentleness, devotion. Snape may not be particularly gentle outwardly, but it is something he values, and his happiest memories are of being treated gently — whether that’s by Lily or his mum or whoever in his life has actually been kind to him. I think that Snape’s patronus represents his wish that he could go back to a time when he still felt innocent. Yes, it does also reflect his devotion to the cause — to honoring Lily’s memory — but there’s just as much of him in his patronus as there is of Lily.
This is beautiful!
