And the Chiefs of Defence conference organized by the Department of Peace Operations, wrapped up at UNHQ yesterday. Senior military officials from more than 115 countries and organizations, including 56 chiefs of defence, participated in this biennial event in support of peacekeeping.
The focus of this year’s conference, “generating capabilities to meet high-performance peacekeeping requirements”, contributes to the implementation of the Secretary-General’s Action for Peacekeeping initiative. Speaking at the opening yesterday, the Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, underlined that, as our operations face the challenges of implementing their mandates in complex environments, we owe our peacekeepers the very best capabilities that we can provide, may it be in leadership, training or equipment.
Through the day, the chiefs of defense reaffirmed their strong support and commitment to peacekeeping.

Those who know me, know that a hobby of mine, is audiovisual production. A hobby that I have been practicing for some time here in Mali, and that I can on occasion mix with my occupation of being a Communications Officer at the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mali, MINUSMA.
