"Mother? But you d…" He stops himself, and he sits N down on a sofa, taking a seat next to him. Ghetsis had never married. He had never dated, even. He had never even thought of construing a lie about a mother N never had. 

"Natural, do not worry. She died when you were young." Thinking quick, he smiled, placing a hand on N’s shoulder. "She was fighting for the liberation of Pokémon. I… I could not protect her. She loved you very much."

"Anthea and I were speaking about mother..."

"Ah no no!  It’s not your fault!  N there are many factors and I’ve only named a few of them.  Perhaps you should ask Father?  It’s not really my place to say why we have no mother."

The fatherly instinct inside him was screaming no, don’t let anyone touch N ever in that way. But he cleared his throat, alas. “P… Perhaps. Though I believe you should have a steady relationship before you engage in such acts.”

"Okay. I'll keep that in mind."

Anthea is quiet a moment.  “Perhaps.  There could be other reasons.  She may have died in childbirth.  I think it best not to dwell on such sad thoughts though.”

"I see... It may be my fault, then. I'm the youngest."

"It’s not… wrong. But I think we have much more important things to focus on.” He smiles warmly, kindly, lovingly. “Like the liberation of Pokémon. Do we not?”

"I think I understand now. So it would be ok to do things like that after my friends have been liberated."

"Well, no.  But people are different from humans.  Humans tend to make something so basic as reproduction a very meaningful act.  I suppose you could say that without love in the equation, a human child grows up in a very different environment and grows to be a different sort of person than someone who did have love in their own equation.  For humans sometimes love as a variable is the difference between the resulting infant having one parent or two."

"Are you saying... We don't have a mother because she didn't love father? Or maybe he didn't love her?"

Anthea shook her head. “No, no I think you know the concept quite well.  But just know that it’s a private act between two people and you should only do it with someone you love and trust.  Okay?”

"Do you have to love someone to have a baby? Is there a chemical difference in the final product if love is absent from the equation?"

"Yes, well, some people do. I forbid you from doing as such." He was still nervous this was not going to go well. "Do you understand?"

"No... I don't get it. Why am I forbidden from doing something like that? Is it wrong somehow?"

Anthea blinked.  “Oh, no N, I know about reproduction.  Do—okay how about.  You tell me what you know about it and I fill in the gaps?”

"Reproduction is the biological process by which new "offspring" individual organisms are produced from their "parents". Its a fundamental feature of all known life; each individual organism exists as the result of reproduction. The known methods of reproduction are broadly grouped into two main types: sexual and asexual.

"In asexual reproduction, an individual can reproduce without involvement with another individual of that species. The division of a bacterial cell into two daughter cells is an example of asexual reproduction. Asexual reproduction isn't limited to single-celled organisms. Most plants have the ability to reproduce asexually. Its unknown if pokemon use this type of reproduction or not.

"Sexual reproduction typically requires the involvement of two individuals or gametes, one each from opposite type of sex. The propagation of organisms can also occur through cloning... ... ...Should I keep going?"

"N… My son, no." He heaved a sigh. N was sometimes too pure. "It is inappropriate regardless. A threesome is when three people engage in fornication, or, rather, sex. They do it for pleasure. People that are related cannot engage in sex, because it is taboo. Do you understand?"
