upd8.ninja is a super simple Homestuck upd8 notifier to keep open in your browser. Rather than hammering Homestuck’s site by having each user refresh the site once every minute or so, this has one central server checking for everyone. This not only reduces the load on Homestuck’s servers compared to RSS-based notifiers and spamming F5, but also allows for a faster refresh rate.

nothing was wrong with my code, but homestuck.com was sending me an old, cached version of the adventure log for like 10 minutes straight, rather than actually refreshing

so i had to manually type the update in

the mobile app is actually broken, and I no longer have access to the source, so I’d have to start from scratch to get it working again. (probably not happening)

Right now, upd8.ninja looks like it’s working, but it’s actually not.

I’m working on updating it for the new site now! Hopefully it’ll be ready by the next upd8, but there is quite a bit of work to be done, and I’m known to be lazy. I do have everything planned out for how I’ll go about it, I just gotta actually code it.

I’ll probably have it set up so that if you leave upd8.ninja open right now, it should auto-update as soon as I roll out the latest version.

Meanwhile, follow this blog for more updates! (not upd8s though, I don’t wanna bother learning tumblr’s api)
