“Nah, maybe just you should reread tonight’s bits. That sounds maybe like a better idea, don’t you think?” He ruffled the boy’s hair affectionately. “Aren’t you enjoying it?”
“I am! It’s one of the best books you’ve had me read but... Dad, can I tell you the truth?” The boy looked up to his father, shuffling back and forth on his feet. “I... I didn’t read it the first time. I was too focused on glasses cleaning.”

A sly smile crept into his face, arms crossing his chest. His boy wasn’t as good a liar as the kid’s old man. “Yeah? What happened in tonight’s chapter?”
“In tonight’s... Well, er, they... They... I forgot already,” he stumbled out the lie, rubbing the back of his neck. Of course, he had no idea what had happened in his readings, but he didn’t want his dad disappointed. “Can you give me a refresher?”

“Maybe.” He smiled, his hand still resting on the boy’s head. “That’s very kind of you to say, Teddy, thank you. You’re probably right. Have you done your reading yet today?”
“My reading? I... Yes, I have,” Teddy lied, rubbing the back of his neck. He’d been so preoccupied with locating his father’s glasses and cleaning them that he had forgotten to read. He would just do that when his father wasn’t looking then.

“Of Course I’m not angry at you, Teddy- wasn’t your fault your ol’ dad’s a mess of a man whom walks into overly clean doors. It’d’ve surely happened glasses or no glasses.” Now if he could only remember what he was going into the yard to do…
“‘N no, you’ve never run into a glass door. Much too-“ he reached out, ruffled the boy’s hair. “-smart for that, you are. Cleaner than ever before indeed.”
“Maybe I ran into it when you were back at the school,” the boy pointed out, smiling to his dad. “Because you’re very, very smart, and you ran into the door just now. I don’t think it’s a smarts thing, I think it’s a... A.... Your mind was on other things thing!”

“Thank you,” He grunted slightly as he was helped up, fighting the urge to sneeze that the whole nose slamming into glass incident had caused to build up. He couldn’t help but smile, though. “Can’t say it wasn’t, I suppose, from an outsider’s perspective. Pretty funny, yeah.”
Teddy sure was a special kid, Remus was lucky to have him. “Y’know, these glasses are damn clean. Good job.”
“So, you’re not angry I was the one that made you hit the door?” Teddy asked, wanting to be sure before moving forward. “I mean, it did look like it hurt-- I’ve never done it so I don’t know. Unless, I did do it... Did I ever do it?”
Teddy asked the barrage of questions before smiling at his father’s compliment to his cleaning handiwork. “Cleaner than ever before? It’s what the glass cleaner said it’d do!”

Remus blinked a few times, sitting back up on the ground and rubbing at his poor, sore nose. So that’s where his glasses had walked off to, he might need to upgrade to a stronger prescription, past the reading glasses he had currently. Ah, time. You slip by so, so quickly.
“Well, I’m sure those’ll be the cleanest they’ll ever be…let’s see if I can even see where I’ve left them after this.”
Teddy carefully helped his father up before looking him up and down. The eleven year-old then smiled and offered over the pair of freshly cleaned glasses. “I’m sorry I took them, Dad. I just wanted to help you out. Though it is kind of funny that you hit the door, isn’t it?”
His eyes lit up as he spoke, slowly shifting through different shades of brown as he watched his dad.

“Dad... Are you alright?” Teddy came running into the room the second he heard the loud slam of his father hitting the door. Thankfully, the glass was strong enough that his father hadn’t gone breaking through. That would have been bad. However, the boy had to take a few moments to process exactly what happened.
But then, a bright smile appeared on his face, “Well, if I didn’t like it before, I suppose I could like it now. I was just cleaning your glasses with it, but I guess you needed them.”
