Gravityâs Pull [Uruha&Nova]
nova-iaâ:
The branch beneath him swayed with each step the giant took, Uruhaâs hand and Novaâs balance the only thing that their lives were clinging too. Heâd had moments like this before, putting his entire existence on the line for one shot that could take it all down, he had to steady his breathing, pretend like he wasnât about to mess his pants in fear, more so of losing Uruha then dying all over again.
Pure adrenaline was surging through him, the bow was steady in his hands. His body felt like it was vibrating at a frequency not yet known to man or supernatural, but his hands were stern. Nova rocked his shoulders back, his boyish face melting into a piercing stare and furrowed brows. Eyes glowing in focus as his chest heaved. That was when the whole world slowed, seconds became minutes and minutes became hours to him as he honed directly on the target. Elbows up, relaxed, though the feeling of wanting to protect the other elf was powerful, tingles running through his bones, for a moment, he had to ignore it.Â
He leaned into Uruha a bit, drawing the string of his bow back with a strong jaw, the head of the arrow lined directly with the pupil of the approaching giants eye.Â
Another deep breath, âNow.âÂ
He spoke sternly to his friend, he trusted Uruha not even waiting for his distracting before releasing the arrow, To Nova it drifted through air at a slow pace, eyes watching directly as it ripped elegantly through the sky for what felt like an eternity, before finally piercing through the giantâs eye and head with a disgusting sound. In reality it was merely a second, the arrow whizzed through the tree line at a speed that he didnât dare think to calculate. The moment going by in the blink of an eye.
This was absolutely terrifying, there was no doubt about that. However, as Uruhaâs wide eyes turned to look at the other elf and he saw the hard look on his face, the determination and focus there, how he seemed able to master his fear and steady his hands; something in that look seemed to take hold of Uruhaâs heart and steady it as well. It was what he imagined resting in the eye of a storm must be like - a small oasis amidst the chaos.
This calm let him catch what felt like the first deep breath he had taken since his misadventure started, and he clenched his jaw, pulling his gaze away from Nova and focusing in on the giant. He could not mess this up for them; Nova was doing all he could, he had to do the same. Somehow, the task seemed a little less daunting with this steady presence next to him.
When that stern command was dealt Uruha reacted immediately, sending as thick of a wall as he could manage in front of the giant - making sure to keep the way to the eye clear, of course. It was not terrible strong, but it was enough; that moment of distraction was enough for the arrow to hit its target with a sound that Uruha was never going to forget, and it sent the creature lifelessly to the ground, the force of the body hitting the earth enough to make the trees around them tremble. Yet, still there they stood.
âOh... We... We did it?â Uruha breathed, fingers somehow curling into Novaâs shirt even more tightly than they already had been. âOh my god,â he gasped, bringing his free hand to his chest and slumping against the other. The adrenaline was starting to drain away, and he shivered a little, the reality of just how close he had come to death starting to hit him. If it had not been for Nova... âWhere on earth did you come from?â
