in discussions about oikawa's skill, esp in comparison to kageyama and atsumu, people don't talk enough about his super long set. It proves that he DOES have the talent, the instincts, and the skill that he always envied kageyama for. he CAN do those super precise sets that he previously thought only kageyama can do, he was just limiting himself without realizing it. but, unfortunately, the match, and oikawa's part in the story, ended soon after, and we never get to see more of oikawa's evolution.
the thing about a fandom, esp one with a lot of casual viewers, is that they tend to water down characters to a single trait to make it easy to remember them. for oikawa, it's the quote "oikawa tooru is not a genius." but the thing is, by the end of season 2, that's not true anymore and it drives me crazy how people don't remember that oikawa has EVOLVED. he's PAST the whole idea of "not being a genius". this long set proved to him that he could do what he thought he couldn't. this set proved he's already on kageyama's (and atsumu's) level, and that he could even go BEYOND that.
