Emma thought for a moment. “Do we still get to play Quidditch? I hear the Appleby Arrows are having a good season, though I won’t mind if they trade me to the Harpies or the Wasps.” Her hands tapped on the table, itching for a broom and the Pitch. “I want to play. Just because my future self is retired doesn’t mean I am.”
Rab is the big spoon, excuse you. He is a man and he will spoon his woman. No, but seriously though, he is little spoon when he is sad, just don’t tell his big brother.
Favorite Non-sexual activity
The two of them probably hold hands while walking in the park. A magical park, cuz Rab won’t be caught dead in the muggle world. Emma likes talking to Rab in Korean though he gets very uncomfortable and tries to change the subject.
Favorite Sexual activity
Idk man it gets freakier than you’d expect up in there. They are secretly exhibitionists and frequently almost get caught in pumpkin patches.
First Kiss
It happens in school and Rabastan knows his parents would not approve, but she is just so freaking nice to him and she sounds so smart while they are working on their homework together, he plants one on her in the library.
Favourite make-out spot?
That damned pumpkin patch.
First Time
They both sneak away during a part because they are bored out of their minds and hands slip, and welp, they’re in it now. It becomes a theme with them.
Does anyone catch them in the act?
Rodolphus catches them one day and gives Rabastan a twenty minute lecture on picking a proper bride and being discrete and Emma is not sure if she should leave.
Does anyone know about them?
Rod and Emma’s mom. Like, Adeline Vanity is very conflicted because Rab is just the second son, but nabbing a Lestrange is the dream. But they both doubt the Lestranges will ever let it happen.
Do people approve of them?
It’s all incredibly complicated because Emma is a pureblood with a good bloodline, at least on one half, but everyone thinks she is just with Rabastan because she’s a social climber as opposed to she genuinely likes him. So, it’s always seen as her seducing him.
Who uses all the hot water?
Rabastan. He likes the occasional bubble bath, what.
Most trivial thing they fight over?
Quidditch. Emma is obsessed and Rab could not give two shits, and why is his smart intelligent girlfriend not working for like the Ministry???
What they fight over most?
War stuff. Emma is always worried.
Who does most of the cleaning?
Rabastan because his beautiful girlfriend is really tired after practice and he can’t let the help in, they might tell someone.
Who steals the blankets?
They are equal blanket hogs.
Who leaves their stuff around?
Emma.
Who remembers anniversaries?
Both of them, and they get really embarrassed about it, it’s very cute.
Who cooks normally?
The house elf they eventually hire so no one dies.
How often do they fight?
Not terribly often and even when they do, it’s more polite discussions than anything.
What do they do when they’re away from each other?
Emma plays a lot of Quidditch because Rab is not fond of it, but Rab is likely learning more languages.
Nicknames for each other?
Em and Rab.
Who is more likely to pay for dinner?
Rab is such a traditionalist, he makes sure he gets to pay.
Who steals the covers at night?
Repeat, equal blanket hogs.
What would they get each other for gifts?
Emma gets him books and Rabastan buys her expensive trinkets because he feels bad they have to keep it a secret and that seems to be what all the men in his life do with their ladies...?Who made the first move?Rabastan.
Who remembers things?
Both.
Who started the relationship?
Emma because she wanted to define the relationship and Rabastan was not brave enough to argue.
Who cusses more?
Neither swears much really.
What would they do if the other one was hurt?
Rabastan would be a little more down for murder than Emma, but she would definitely comfort him.
Do they get married?
Rabastan would have to stand up against his parents, so the outcome is...not great. Still, if they were, Emma would visit him in Azkaban. Then they’d run off after his escape.
“Oh my god. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, I’m so sorry! I thought you were someone else, I— Shit. Oh my god, I’m so so so so so sorry,” Lucy sputtered out as she moved away from the other witch, her heart beating faster out of sheer panic at what she had just done. Of course she’d do that to the wrong person. Of course she would. How else could her life possibly get any more ridiculous if that wasn’t the case?
Emma did not recognize this person in any way, shape, or form. She had to assume they were from a different time period than her, though she obviously didn’t know everyone in her era. She cleared her throat, wondering who the person had mistaken her for. “It’s fine. No harm, no foul, right?” At the very least she wasn’t one of those avid fans who had recognized her. Sure, in her time she was still an up and coming player, but apparently, she had made quite a name for herself since then. Enough that people gaped at her if they were particularly devout Arrows fans.
“Sur–” Hestia began in an excited sing-songy tone, taking her hands away from the other’s eyes as she moved in front of them, “–prise,” she concluded, suddenly less enthused. Her smile fell ever-so-slightly. “You are… not Josie.” The former Hufflepuff felt incredibly foolish. For a moment, but then quickly fell into a laugh, “I’m so sorry! Wow, has anything like this every happened to you before? Mistaking one person for another?”
Emma nodded along, still a bit dazed from the sudden situation. She was embarrassed for the both of them, her cheeks turning into the color of carnations, as if it was her fault she had mistaken her for someone else. “No, it’s fine, really. I can’t say I’ve ever been in the exact same situation I suppose.”
‘ Sorry-’ Alice quickly said, regretting that she had done that in the first place, she slowly retracted herself and offered Emma an apolegetic smile. ‘ Thought you’d like to see a familiar face, but then I did a dumb “hello” move.’
Emma sighed. relieved that today was not the day she would be meeting her maker. “It’s alright. I just think I saw all my past lives in a span of two seconds. I think I was a queen at one point. Hopefully not one of the murderous ones.”
Emma always felt out of place with these functions. Smile, but not too much. Don’t talk too anyone for too long or else the others might not think they have a chance. Don’t insult your siblings. She cleared her throat. Her father and mother had long ago stopped their arrangement, but she still felt the stink eye from his wife every time Emma and her mother stepped into the room. Emma would have rather avoided this whole thing (though she was good at it), but her mom insisted. As soon as she could manage, she settled into a corner, so she could breathe for a moment. She spotted a familiar face and smiled, waving her over. “Alice, I haven’t seen you in so long! How are you?”
Emma’s relationship with Rabastan was complicated to say the least; her mother could never seemed to decide if he was an appropriate match for her (that was how she viewed any men Emma spent time with; as potential matches). Sure, he was a Lestrange, but he was also the second son and not even of the actual bloodline. Emma, however, just saw him as soft, intelligent as well. Spending time with him was a bit like a warm blanket. “Rabastan Lestrange, I know you are not going to leave before getting a quick bite to eat with your noona.”
Emma nearly jumped in surprise as she felt a pair of hands come over her eyes; even after all those months, it was strange knowing they were not actively at war, that she didn’t need to fear death at every corner, that she had somehow managed to survive. She sputtered. “Hello?”
