eric didn’t quite hate his job, it helped pay the bills and offered him quite a bit of amusement as he stood behind the bar, his eyes scanning the crowed of students. his eyes fell on one in particular sat at the corner of the bar. he wandered over and leaned against the countertop, throwing a towel over his shoulder as he offered them a charming smile. “you need anythin’? got a new drink on the menu if you’re lookin’ to get a little fucked up.” he offered with a shrug.

Despite having turned twenty-one a couple months ago, the Castillo wasn’t very popular in bar scenes just yet. The crowds made her claustrophobic, and politely declining drunk offers grew tiresome over time. It was only after an insistent sigma-epsilon sister dragged here to one yet again tonight, having already broken the promise of not leaving Valerie alone at the bar. A wave of relief washed over delicate features at the male approaching her behind the bar. She felt oddly safe in Eric’s company, even if he was on the job. Brows flit upwards amusedly at the generous offer. “Get a little fu—? Oh, jeez.” Hands smoothen her skirt as a bashful smile nestles upon gentle features. “You spoil me, Eric. Sadly, I’ll have to decline the offer because it looks like...” an intentional pause as head nods in the direction of her friend dancing or attempting to, given her current state with an unfamiliar male, “...I’ll be playing babysitter tonight. But I’ll take the usual? You’re the only one in town who knows how to make it just how I like it.”

     “MM, NO, SEE, usually i wouldn’t be screaming into a mic for fun, but my vocal coach has it in her head that screaming is a better warm-up than actual vocal exercises. i figured that’s one theory i’d yet to test and probably should, just in case. it’s been landing me in quite a bit of trouble this past week.” a tiny grin spreads on huan’s lips and he quickly digs his teeth in to stop it from widening. “don’t worry about it.”

“YOU THINK?” Brown eyes expectantly (and somewhat amusedly, even) widen at her devious dance partner. Manicured hands now tug at the sleeves of her hoodie to comfortably sit over her knuckles, as glossed lips sported a childish pout. “That’s the second time you’ve managed to get us kicked out of Walmart. The least you could’ve done was wait until I finished scanning the stupid Rice Krispie bar.” Her sulking cut short for a second, as she found it near impossible to stifle laughter at the event that’d unfolded just moments prior. “Not that you’re not an absolute dear to shop with or anything...” a gentle tone collects itself once more at the thought that this was simply just another one of the many adventures they were yet to embark together. Rice Krispies could always come second. “Maybe next time, don’t pick a child-friendly store to scream bloody murder?”

The middle of an alley was a haphazard location to begin with. Valerie, normally very cautious about where she addressed her personal errands was now stood along a brick wall in the middle of an alley. More so in a last-minute resort, to see to it that a mob deal wouldn’t go awry due to a couple of her father’s ill-prepared dealers. “Toma esto,” voice significantly diminuendos in contrast to the level of authority it still held. An adamant command, as she slips the other a dagger that’d been on her person for the day. Apparently the male needed the extra safety measure despite his gun, should something go terribly wrong during the exchange. As dark hues flit back up to her acquaintance, groomed brows began to knit themselves together at his dumbfounded gaze directed somewhere over her shoulder. It wasn’t until then when she heard faint shuffling behind he, causing her to freeze in her spot.

A glimmer of excitement sparkles in big brown ideas at the idea. “Ooooh, dibs on being Audrey Hepburn! I can already see it now,” a wistful sigh emits glossed lips as palms cradled delicate visage. Valerie was always a sucker for those cinematic, dreamy scenes — so hearing someone else beat her to the punch only made her that much more excited. Maybe a little carried away, even. “Not to start trouble or anything...” a thoughtful pause as she fights back a coy smile, “but something like a scene right out of Gatsby could really give Kappa Theta a run for their money.”

one thing no one knows about the castillos is that it’s not their real last name! AUDIENCE GASPS

GUERRERA is the second and authentic last name that’s been passed down for generations. this is the last name that is also famously associated with one of new york’s largest and most feared underground organizations.

her father fronts as a businessman on wall street but also runs cartel operations off the clock. this, obviously, prompted a lot of dangerous events — including the demise of the beloved emmanuel castillo.

val had a brother who passed away in 2015 ( this is right before val left for college ). word came back that it was an intentional hit by a rival mob after something went awfully wrong in one of the mob operations.

her fury and need for vengeance thus prompted her to go under her father’s wing and learn the tricks of the trade. it took her two years to properly train, but now she is one of the top marksmen in her father’s mob. don’t be fooled by her façade.

she still goes home often to assist in operations and is probably expanding trade in maryland or practicing combat when she’s “at dance practice” ROLLS EYES

if you could change anything about yourself, personality wise, what would it be and why?

You could say that I wish I was more daring. I’ve gotten… far too used to routine and often feel the need to break out of that, though I don’t really do much to change anything about it. I guess I feel like I don’t have the guts to go out and do things on my own. Which really sucks, because I tend to be rather adventurous.
