it take2 a while to learn, but you get pretty good at it.

The hug was gentle, and so was the noogie.  It was remarkably, unspeakably rare that Tarrat took a choice away from Wicked; but occasionally it did happen.

The choice of whether Alternia lived or died would no longer be in Wicked’s (alternates) hands -- but instead, in Tarrat’s.

Tarrat wasn’t necessarily an improvement, but being free of it could mean the world to Wicked.

You’ve just spent a few hours arranging and designing a system that would let you use skaia-style portals to protect an Alternia from the meteoric ruin of the reckoning, exactly the way Skaia protects itself -- by sending them all somewhere else.  Although, of course, you’d get to choose where they went, and could send them places that were safe or useful, that’s a nice tool...

...but...  your face slips into a small frown, as you keep thinking about it.

Wicked still feels pretty bad about destroying Alternia on purpose.  It was a choice he made when he was in a really, really dark place.  ...but...

...You are a time player.  And you’re responsible for the version of the game that your group used.  ...and, you are in touch with your alternates who play the game, who are collaboratively patching and editing their executables, seeking the perfect balance.

It takes you less than an hour to write the proposed patch.

...it takes more like half of an hour after that, to decide to hit the post button.

It was interesting, and pretty wild, what just two weeks of being an extravert had done. He was talking to people now, smiling unprompted, sitting in the warm sun  with a drink in the school commons and  actually engaging with people after classes.

He didnt have the exuberance or drive to do all the antics or go out every single night now.

But he felt a lot less alone than he had.
