Janelle didn’t see Xavier or Josh for the rest of the show. After meeting with Paul and confirming that she was definitely moving back to the blue brand. She headed to the parking lot stopping when she heard Xavier throwing a tantrum.
“No!.” The 4-year old yelled out. “I wanna go see Nelle.” Josh looked around desperately.
“ I don’t think she’s here anymore X. Come on we can get McDonald’s” Xavier wasn’t trying to hear that though. He started crying and kicking his legs harder. Janelle walked over to them.
“Xavier. What’s wrong?” Xavier broke free from Josh’s grip and ran over to Janelle.
“I wanna stay with you.” He cried into her leg. Janelle felt her heart break, she didn’t know that her and Josh’s breakup had this type of effect on Xavier. Josh crouched down so he was eye level with Xavier.
“Xav, come on we talked about this daddy and Nelle don’t share a room anymore.” Him saying that only caused Xavier to cry harder. He looked up her.
“Help me.” He mouthed to her. She cleared her throat and pried Xavier off of her legs and picked him up.
“Okay. How about your daddy go and get the food and me and you can go back to the hotel and watch movies. I’ll stay until you go to sleep.”
“Promise.” He asked, pouting at her. She nodded.
“I promise..” She looked back at Josh. “You wanna take my rental and I’ll take yours?” He nodded and gave her the keys and his keycard.
“Room 3310, Jon is there.” Janelle groaned and nodded her head putting Xavier into the car seat. “Whatchu want to eat?” He asked her, holding the driver's door open for her. She shrugged.
“You know what I like.” She said before shutting the door and starting the car.” She looked in the rear view mirror at Xavier who was smiling at her and she could help but smile back. Starting the car with a sigh, she started driving to the hotel
Xavier talked her head off the whole journey up to the hotel room. Janelle didn’t mind though. She missed being around him. They finally made it to the room, opening the door Janelle let out a surprised shriek when she saw Jon standing in his underwear.
“Ayo, whatchu doin?!” He yelled as he ran into his room. She laughed and placed Xavier on the couch, crouching down to take off his shoes.
“Do your boxers have frogs on them?” She said laughing when he came out of the room and threw a pillow at her.
“Shut up, my mom gave them to me.” That caused Janelle to laugh even harder. “Why are you here?” He said walking over to his nephew and giving him a pound.
“Me and Xavi having a movie night.” She said untying the laces on her heels and slipping them off her feet. Jon arched an eyebrow and her.
“Just you and X?” He looked over to his nephew who was cuddled up against Janelle. Normally he would be ripping and running around the whole hotel room, tearing shit up. But now he looked so content with just being close to Janelle.
“No Josh too.” He looked over at her. “What? We broke up months ago. I’m over it, I'm pretty sure he’s over it and I’m doing it for Xavier. He had a whole tantrum at the arena.”
“You might be over it, but I know my brother, he aint over it.” Janelle ignored his statement and turned her attention to the cartoon that Xavier was watching.
Josh didn’t immediately pull off from the arena. He sat in the car for a bit. “What the fuck.” He muttered, scrubbing his hand over his face. He 100% wasn’t over their break up. He wasn’t even sure why they broke up. He came home one day to all her stuff packed and placed by the front door, the house keys and car keys on the kitchen counter. He couldn’t even think of reasons why they broke up, they were happy or at least he thought they were happy.
Josh pulled off, driving to the nearest McDonalds, his thoughts shifting to the ring box in his closet.
The sound of someone knocking on the door paused Janelle, Jon and Xavier’s game of hide-and-seek.
“That must be Josh. I have his keycard.” She said walking over and opening the door. She took the drink out of his hand and set them down at the kitchen table. Jon walked over to the bags looking in them. Scoffing when he only sees two meals and a happy meal.
“Man, you knew I was here.” He grumbled going over to the hotel’s restaurant menu and looking at it. “I'm hungry too.” Josh ignored him though. His eyes on Janelle as he watched her help Xavier sit at the table.
“What?” She asked when she turned around and noticed him still standing there, staring at her. He shook his head and mumbled ‘nothing’ before grabbing his food out of the bag and going to sit on the couch with his brother. He looked over at Janelle when she cleared her throat. She nodded her head over to the empty chair next to Xavier.
“What are you doing?” She asked. He sighed and got up from the couch and made his way over to the table. Giving her a look when she started laughing.
Jon watched them with a small smile on his face, hoping that they could talk out their problems and get back together. They were good for each other. He got up and walked into his room, giving them privacy.
After they ate, they went into Josh and Xaviers shared room. Janelle stood awkwardly by the door as Josh helped Xavier into his pajamas.
Josh went into the bathroom to change, leaving Janelle and Xavier.
“Can I sit in the middle of you and daddy?” He asked, already climbing into the bed.
“Of course,” she smiled at him, walking towards the bed, wishing she had a change of clothes. She climbed into the bed next to him, tucking her legs so that her underwear wasn’t showing.
“So what are we watching?” Josh asked as he came back into the room, dressed in some basketball shorts and a t-shirt. Janelle looked down and Xavier, who was looking at her already.
“You want me to pick?” He nodded his head and snuggled closer to her.
“Wow this is a lot of pressure.” She said, tickling his sides making him giggle. “Lets watch SpiderMan” Josh nodded and grabbed the remote to turn the movie on.
15 minutes into the movie Xavier was rocked. Janelle looked down when he started to snore and laughed.
“Guess he was sleepy.” She said, sitting up slightly so she wouldn’t wake him up. With Josh’s help she maneuvered him so he was laying on a pillow and not on her. “Well, goodnight.” She said, cracking the door so that the light from the living room wouldn’t wake Xavier.
Josh looked over at Xavier to make sure he was secured and followed Janelle out of the room.
“Wait.” He called out after her. She turned around, leaning against the front door. “Thank you, for coming to be with Xavier, I don’t know how I would’ve calmed him down.” She nodded her head.
“It was no problem, you know I love Xavier.” That caused Josh to scoff. “What was that for?” She said, crossing her arms.
“How you love him, but you abandoned us.” She gasped.
“I didn’t abandon him or you Joshua. We broke up.” He shook his head.
“No, you broke up with me, leaving me and my son heartbroken, that little boy asked about you for months. And what was I supposed to say? Janelle left you just like your mom?!”
“That was uncalled for Josh!” She said, raising her voice slightly. He shrugged.
“Well it's true and I'm not apologizing for it.”
“Joshua, we broke up, I moved out. Was I supposed to still come around?” She asked, frowning. She should’ve known this conversation was going to happen.
“Why did we break up? Why did you move out? Im still fuckin’ confused.” She groaned and rolled her eyes.
“Josh, come on. We argued everyday, we saw each other at work and at home. There was no escape.” He furrowed his eyebrows at her.
“What argument? We had slight disagreements.” She scoffed at that.
“Josh we yelled from the time we woke up til the time we fell asleep.”
“So what, we were going thru a rough patch, but that doesn’t mean you leave me and my son.”
She groaned and threw her head back against the door, “I love Xavier, but I wasn’t ready to be a mom. I felt overwhelmed. There I was playing house with you-” He cut her off.
“Playing house? Seriously?”
“I wasn’t ready for that lifestyle! And then you kept talking about how good of a mom I was to X and how you couldn’t wait until we had kids of our own.” She was growing frustrated with him. Why couldn't he see where she was coming from. She was young and wanted to have fun. Did he understand the sacrifices she made for him and his son?
“That's how people who love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together talk, Janelle!”
“I don’t want to talk about this anymore Josh. I just wanna go to sleep.” She said as she opened the door.
“Go ahead, run away like you always do.” She sighed and let the door close behind her, she wasn’t lying when she said she loved Xavier, she really did. And she wasn’t lying when she said that she wasn’t ready to be a mom.
When she started dating Josh, she knew he had a son but she didn’t know he was a full time dad. Xavier would stay with Josh’s mom when he was on the road but all that changed when Xavier met Janelle, he didn’t want to leave her side. So Xavier started coming on the road with them and wherever Janelle went so did he. He would sit on the equipment boxes behind the camera, while she did her interviews. It got to the point where she was missing out on social events to stay with Josh and Xavier.
She wiped tears from her eyes as she got on the elevator and pressed the button to her floor.

“You look so damn good. If you don’t get ate out tonight, come back home early, and I’ll do the honors.”
It’s a miracle that you’re able to keep a straight face as Alexis does the finishing touches on your makeup. “Well, that’s not gonna happen, period, because this is just a date.”
Alexis pauses and gives you a look. “I know you’ve been out of the game for a while, but you do know what typically happens on dates, right?”
Rolling your eyes, you retort, “Lex, not everyone fucks on the first date.”
She sucks her teeth and swaps out the eyeliner for mascara. “Bitch, this is not a first date. He’s painted your walls too many times for you to say anything between ya’ll is a first.”
As much as you hate it, she has somewhat of a point. You and Joe have checked so many boxes already that it does seem kinda silly to call this a first date. But, in many ways, it is. He’s never before asked you to go anywhere outside of the couple of times he invited you to his show, since you were already in town because he'd flown you out.
But never anything beyond that.
So, in that way, it is a first date.
And maybe that’s why you’re nervous. It’s a first too. Not a lot of things make you nervous. Even when you cheered, there was some level of anxiety before competitions, but even that was minimal compared to some of the panicked expressions you’d see on your teammates faces. When it comes to Callie, there are definitely a lot of things that make you nervous, but that’s just regular parental anxiety.
So this butterflies shit is unfamiliar and annoying.
It’s also just Joe. You know him, you know him better than almost anyone else in your life outside of Mariah and Callie.
Thinking of Mariah, you grab your phone and hit the side button to see if you have any notifications. Instead, you’re just met with Callie’s smiling face.
Alexis sees this and comments casually, “still nothing?”
You don’t respond, because it’s not necessary. She already knows the answer.
“Well, whatever she’s got going on, let her deal with it the way she wants,” Alexis advises, grabbing the powder brush to brush off some excessive powder on your cheeks. “You’ve got too many good things going on in your life for you to be stressed out over her fake ass.”
She’s not entirely wrong. There’s definitely not a shortage of topics you still need to sort through, many of which should take precedent over you wondering what the hell is going on with your best friend since kindergarten. Still, it’s hard for you not to worry about her and feel confused about what’s shifted between the two of you.
You haven’t heard from her since you text her when Callie was in the hospital, and she replied back that she was praying for you and Callie and asked if you wanted her to come to the hospital. You thanked her but let her know that Joe was with you, so you were okay.
You haven’t heard from her since then.
It’s not that difficult to put two and two together. There’s something about Joe that makes Mariah stay away and keep her distance. You just can’t figure out why.
“Okay, enough of your overthinking. Time to see my masterpiece.” She gloats and claps her hand, removing the towel she’d put around your chest area to prevent anything from spilling on your outfit. Alexis sighs, “you seriously look amazing, Y/N.”
Standing and stretching your back, you walk over to the full body mirror against the opposite wall of your bedroom. “Oh….”
The last time you actually dressed up was at the town’s annual Christmas party two years back. You’d always gone growing up and wanted Callie to experience it for herself, even though Callie ended up utterly disinterested, hence that being your last appearance. It was hard to justify dragging her to something she was too young to enjoy and even understand.
So, seeing yourself done up like this is a shock. Alexis absolutely slayed your makeup, perfect wingliner and all. The white, ruched, off shoulder dress is form-fitting, hugging every curve you’ve had since a teenager that's only improved since having Callie. It’s a beautiful contrast against your melanin. You’ve always thought white on black women looked so classy.
Your curls are styled and pinned into an almost pineapple atop your head. The jewelry is simple and basic: necklace and hoops. No bracelet considering the dress is long-sleeved.
All of this creates the absolutely stunning reflection staring back at you. It brings a smile to your face. You’d forgotten how nice it feels to actually get done up.
Alexis appears in the mirror and rests her chin on your shoulder, smiling broadly. “Told you. Boss bitch.”
Matching her smile, you turn to hug her. You really couldn’t have done this without her, even her offering to take Callie for the night as it was a nighttime date, and you doubted you’d be home before bedtime. “Thank you.”
“You’re my best friend. You never have to thank me.” She wiggles her brow. “Just give me a rundown of the pounding that’s bound to commence tonight. A video will do as well.”
Your mouth drops open. “Alexis, you—”
“Mommy! I need you.”
You’ve never in your life felt so grateful to be needed by anyone. Maneuvering through the avalanche of clothes that make up most of your bedroom right now, the result of the two of you trying to figure out what the hell you were going to wear, you’re more than happy to saunter over to Callie’s playroom to see what she needs.
“What’s up, sis?”
You see she’s sitting at her little table, surrounded by crayons, markers, colored paper, and other art supplies. Her eyes fall on you with glee as she gasps loudly.
“Mommy, you look so pretty!”
There’s something about a heartfelt compliment from your child that provides such a level of joy.
“Thank you, baby.” Moving closer to the table, you sit down on the chair opposite her, ignoring how goddamn uncomfortable it is. “What you got for me?”
She shuffles through a couple of pages and lifts one to show you. “Do you think Joe will like this?”
Your eyes study the colorful drawing she’s created against bright yellow—her favorite color—construction paper. It’s the average sun in the corner, green grass, and blue clouds drawing one would expect from a young child, but that’s not what immediately catches your attention. What draws your attention is the fact that there are two people she’s drawn, a heart between the two of them.
Her and Joe.
Eyes watering, you do your best not to cry. You’re pretty sure everything on your face is waterproof, but you’re not trying to find out right now. Not when Joe should be arriving at your place any minute. “He’s gonna love it, Callie.”
Her face lights up with excitement at your approval. “Yay!” Taking it from you and tucking it underneath some other papers, she offers you another one. “I made this one too!”
You definitely can’t hold back the tears this time around. It’s the same backdrop, outside scenery but with a big house drawn behind the three of you: Callie, Joe, and yourself. With a heart over everyone’s head.
“Callie…..”
Callie, being young, sees your tears and automatically mistakens them for something else. Smile dropping and frown appearing, she moves up from the table and comes to hug you. “Don’t cry, mommy. I can make a new one!”
Wiping at your eyes, you shake your head, accepting her hug. “No, baby. Mommy’s crying because she’s happy, because she loves it.”
Instantly, her smile is back. “Really?”
“It’s beautiful. Is this one for your d—Joe too?”
Christmas can’t come soon enough, because this is at least the third time you’ve almost unintentionally given away Joe’s true identity. And that’s something you swore to him and yourself you’d allow him to reveal to Callie. It’s so hard though when moments like this occur, moments where you just want her to know the man she already loves is the same man who helped bring her into this world.
She surprises you by shaking her head no. “I wanna put it in my room.”
Sniffling, you nod, agreeing. “I think that’s a great idea.”
Callie takes your hand and brings you into her room, the two of you taking a few minutes to decide where her photo should go. Eventually, she decides on right above her bed and you post it up using a thumbtack.
Alexis walks into the bedroom to see what’s happening and gasps when she sees Callie’s drawing. “Callie, did you draw that? Sweetie, it’s so amazing!”
The compliment makes Callie smile harder as she says, “thank you!”
“We’re gonna have so much fun tonight, kiddo.”
Her eyes light up, premature excitement brewing. “Can we watch Disney movies?”
“Not only can we watch Disney movies, but we can dance and sing with Disney movies.”
Oh Lord. You have a feeling Callie won’t be in bed by 7:30pm, but it’s not worth pushing back on. You’re just grateful she’s agreed to stay around in town long enough for your date to stay with Callie. You know you could always ask your mom, but she’s already helped out so much in the past couple weeks, you figured she could use a break.
“Yay!”
You and Alexis work to clean up the disaster that is your room as Callie busies herself in her playroom. Nearly finished, Alexis suddenly shares, “oh, I got something for you!”
Closing up your drawer, you place your hands on your hips. “Lex, you’ve already done so much for—-” you’re silenced by the box she’s suddenly reaching your way. “---me.” A headache is coming, migraine even. “Alexis, seriously?”
“What? It’s obvious ya’ll don’t use condoms.” Moving over to the side of your bed, she slides open the drawer of your nightstand and secures the box of Plan B.
“How many times do I have to say—”
Your 937589th time defending yourself that day is interrupted by the doorbell followed by Callie excitedly yelling “Joe!”
“I’ll get it,” Alexis offers, rushing over to you to give some quick, last minute advice. “You got this okay? It’s Joe. You know him like you know the back of your hand. You’re just hanging out with a muscular, 6’3 wrestler who also happens to be your baby daddy. No pressure.”
“Lex, sometimes you really do suck.”
“No, that’s going to be you tonight.” She laughs, ducking as you toss a decorative pillow in her direction.
Blowing through your mouth, you attempt a mini pep talk, digging deep for the shitload you had and utilized as cheer captain what feels like so long ago.
“It’s just a date. Just a date.”
That’s the mantra, the ideal that you have to live by, have to pocket and keep with you at all times.
Just a date.
Grabbing your purse off the dresser, you slide on your heels and head out to the living room. What you’re met with is both expected and unexpected. Joe is holding Callie who’s clearly catching him up on everything he’s missed since he was last in town, minute by minute play, of course. But, Alexis is in the kitchen surrounded by three separate bouquets of flowers, one of red roses, one yellow, and one pink.
Joe’s gaze is on you as soon as you enter the space, but your attention is focused on the breathtaking roses.
“Have I told you he’s my top choice for you?” Alexis asks, explaining and pointing. “The pinks are for me, yellows are for Cal Gal, and the reds are, obviously for you.” A warm smile grows on your face. He’s so damn thoughtful.
Walking over to him, you cross your arms. “Red roses are my favorites.”
“I remember.” Of course he does. He sweeps his eyes over you, slowly, meticulously. “You look beautiful.”
Bashful would never ever be a word you’d use to describe yourself, but it’s definitely how you feel in this moment. “Thank you.”
He looks good too, but that’s not surprising. Joe always looks good, even in his otherwise basic outfit of dark jeans, long sleeved black fitted shirt, and simple gold chain around his neck. The man could wear an orange jumpsuit, and you’d still want to fuck him silly.
“Okay, Cal Gal, we better let them get going, so you and I can head out too.”
Alexis' words catch Joe’s attention, as he asks, protectively, “where are you taking her?”
Callie answers, “Auntie Lex and I are gonna have a sleepover at the hotel!”
Joe looks at you, quizzically. “I told her they can just stay here.”
“Just in case,” she winks at Joe and reminds you, quietly. “Nightstand, babes.”
Heading out is as expected. Callie asks once again if she can come with you guys, and Joe promises that the three of you will do something together at a later time. You remind Alexis to not allow Callie to pig out on junk food and go to bed on time, or at least, a decent time.
Not that it means much. You know she’s gonna do what she wants, because that’s who Alexis is.
That doesn’t bother you as much as Joe not telling you shit about this date other than that you probably won’t get back until late. Which isn’t much of anything.
“What about a—”
He glances at you only for a second, then focuses back on the road. “The answer gon’ be the same as it was the last ten times you asked.”
Glaring at him, you cross your arms. “You know I hate surprises.”
“I’m aware.”
“But, you’re surprising me anyway?”
“Sure am.” Sucking your teeth and looking out the window, you cross your arms, turning your body away from him. “Watch the attitude, sweetheart, or I’ll fix it for you at the end of the night.”
His words shouldn’t make your thighs clench together.
“Whatever.” Pulling out your phone, you start to connect it to the car’s bluetooth.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m not gonna sit here in silence, but I have nothing to say to you, so we need some music.” You’re certain he’s rolling his eyes but doesn’t say anything. Hardheaded ass. He definitely does speak up though when the iconic opening guitar from Smells Like Teen Spirit fills the SUV.
“Oh my god.”
“I don’t want to hear it. You leave me and my musical tastes alone.”
It seems like a rite of passage for every preteen or teenager to have some type of emo phase where they blast and rock out to Paramore like it’s a religious experience. Emphasis on phase. You never really grew out of yours. A love for rock music was something that stemmed from your love of paramore and morphed to the overall genre in general over the years. It was also something you and Alexis had in common, attending Warped your junior year of college. Joe always roasted you for this, because it was so unexpected.
You just liked your Breaking Benjamin just as much as you liked your Megan Thee Stallion.
“You know Callie likes it too,” you inform. One of your personal goals in life is to pass on your eclectic taste in music to your mini me. The appropriate music, of course. You never listen to anything provocative around her, even the clean versions.
“You got her listening to this shit, too?”
Challenging him, you counter. “Would you rather her listen to Pound Town?” He shakes his head, running his hand over his beard. “That’s what I thought.”
Joe doesn’t ask you anything else, just lets you rock out to your music to help you avoid asking him the same damn question over and over again. But, you definitely do have questions that you’re absolutely asking when you see where he’s taken you. “Why the hell are we at the airport?” The bastard doesn’t say anything, and you start to repeat your question when he pulls around and you see it.
“Joe, is that a fucking jet? You have a jet? We’re getting on a jet?” The questions keep rolling out as you find yourself unable to rip your eyes away from it. You’ve been on a plane before, but never a private jet.
“No, we’re going to stare at it.”
Your mind is a million and one places. Just what does this man have planned?
Jumping, you realize he’s not only parked, exited the vehicle, but is standing at your side of the car, door open. “Come on.”
Angrily unbuckling your seatbelt, you jump out the car and continue to press him for answers.
“Don’t get smart with me when I’m panicking. An actual jet? Where the hell are you taking us? Siberia?” He doesn’t say anything, just moves closer to you and places a hand behind your neck.
“Do you trust me?”
You’re not sure if you’ve ever actually asked yourself that question, but interestingly enough, the answer is a no-brainer.
“Of course.”
“Then shut up and come on.”

“We could have just gone to a local restaurant.”
Joe finally caved a bit and informed you that he was taking you to a restaurant out of town but within the same state. That was it. But, it was something, and it made you feel a little bit better about sitting here with him on a jet without a clue as to what’s going on.
“Why? So our waiter can be your ex-fiance?” You roll your eyes and decide against telling him the best restaurant in town is owned by your high school coach’s brother. “I’m tired of sharing you.” His strong arms are around you as he nuzzles his face into your neck. Because of course you’re sitting on his lap, the only “seat” he allowed you to use. “Want you to myself….”
Hands on his forearms, your eyes shut as you try to allow yourself to enjoy this. To enjoy him. He’s obviously gone to great lengths to make tonight special for the both of you, so the least you can do is be appreciative and try to enjoy the ride. A small smile on your lip, you taunt, “Callie might have something else to say about that.”
Just the mention of his daughter brings a smile to Joe’s face and yours too. Seeing how much he loves her gives you such peace and satisfaction. “What does she want for Christmas, by the way?”
Scoffing, you answer, smartly, “well, considering you’ve already bought her half of Toys-r-Us inventory, I’m not sure if there’s anything left for her to want.”

Frank is sat on a fancy leather couch, sweet talking a middle aged woman in a long purple dress. You approach, and take the spot right on his lap, wiggling your hips to get comfortable. He hisses in your ear, fake smile still on his face, and the satisfaction you feel is unparalleled.
You’re out in the hallway coming up with a plan when two men walk past, eyeing you suspiciously. You do what any logical woman would do - smash your lips to Franks and hope he doesn’t question it. He kisses you back with much more passion than necessary, one hand around your neck and the other one on your stomach, pushing you backwards into the wall. You bite his lip as hard as you can and he groans, all deep and pretty, and you’re starting to think this plan has backfired massively.
“Damn, girl.”
“Had to think on my feet.”
“Don’t think your feet were the body part you were thinkin’ with.”
You punch his arm as hard as you can, laughing when he grabs it in pain.
“Let’s get that fucking info and get out of here. I’m sick of everyone telling me how handsome my husband is.”
“He is though, isn’t he?” he teases as he grabs your hand, walking back into the crowds of people unaware of your scheme.
Your fingers stay intertwined for the rest of the evening. He squeezes every now and again, once or twice, and you figure out the code pretty quickly. It’s a silent communication, and it works. In no time, you’ve got what you needed, slipping out of the front door and down the huge winding driveway.
You snatch your hand away, and smack his ass as hard as you physically can.
“What the fuck was that for?”
“Revenge. You grabbed my ass way more than necessary tonight.”
He laughs, and you hate the way it makes you smile.
“Good kiss, by the way.”
“Hmm?”
“You’re a good kisser. Even if you did draw blood.”

“What the hell!” Michael Cole shouts in his headset as the crowd lets out a shout when Scarlet is hit in the back with a kendo stick. “Who the hell is this?!”
Scarlet lets out screams as she is repeatedly hit in the back with a kendo stick before she is grabbed by the person and thrown over their shoulders. The person walks over to the commentary table and slams Scarlet down on it, crashing the table as the crowd gasp in confusion.
Roman looks on confused, glancing over at Paul who is just as confused. Paul takes it upon himself to walk over and check who the person is. Once it’s revealed to him who it is, he starts laughing with a smile.
“Oh my god.” Paul Heymam laughs hysterically as he claps his hand.
Roman stands up and stares at the person who takes off their hood to reveal Y/N Y/L/N. The crowd goes wild almost immediately when they see who it is.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” Michael Cole, “It’s Y/N Y/L/N, Roman Reign’s wife! She’s been out due to an arm injury!” Michael Cole explains.
Roman slowly starts smiling as him and Y/n stare at each other. Roman never knew about this, they never even talked about her returning. Now that she’s back though, he has a ton of opportunities for her to have.
“Come inside here baby doll!” Roman motions inside the ring.
Y/n slides into the ring and skips over to him, wrapping her arms around him as he leans down and gives her a kiss. Everyone around them cheering.
“Why ain’t you tell me nothing?” Roman pulls back.
“Wanted to surprise you.” Y/n shrugs, glancing back at Scarlett and Karrion, “What should we do with them?”
Roman smirks and gives her a look that Y/n immediately understands as they both step out of the ring. They watch as both Scarlett and Karrion get to their feet and both start charging at them.
“Are they going to do it?! Are they?!” Michael Cole shouts
Both y/n and Roman hit a spear on Scarlett and Karrion making the crowd go crazy with cheers.
“Spear!” Michael Cole shouts, “A couples spear!” He exclaims.
Roman gets Karrion into the ring and pins him as Y/n stands above Scarlett, making sure she doesn’t interfere.
“1! 2! 3!” The crowd chants and the bell rings as they announce Roman retaining his titles.

Cody’s team all look at each other in confusion before looking back at the judgment day, watching Finn hand over the mic to Rhea.

Cody paces back in forth in the locker room that his war games team shares. The news of Rhea joining in their war-games match just caused them a huge disadvantage.
“She ain’t just do that…I know she ain’t just do that.” Jey shakes his head, looking at Cody.
“She did…that snake did.” Cody sighs shaking his head.
“Is that even allowed?” Sami raises an eyebrow.
“In this place…yes.” Seth nods.
“We need someone to join our team to take her down or we’ll be really fucked up at war-games.” Cody shakes his head before looking over at Jey and Sami, “Do you think y/n could be able to?”
Jey and Sami immediately shake their heads, “She’s been out since we parted with my cousin and brothers. She has yet to be cleared, she won’t be able to make it.” Jey shakes his head.
“Guess we just gotta get in there…is Randy even coming?” Seth looks at Cody who immediately nods.
“Yes he will come…and hopefully another saving grace will.”

The war-games matching was turning into literal shit. Cody’s team had such a strong disadvantage knowing they can’t do anything to Rhea which, in the crowds eyes, are bullshit. Here and there Cody’s team would get there licks but Rhea was always put in between, stopping any hits coming from any of her members. She herself would even hit one of the guys. Cody’s team all lost hope when they realize Randy won’t be coming and nor will any saving grace to take Rhea the hell down.
Until there was.
The Judgment day stand in the ring well and strong as they wait for the countdown to go down that was supposed to be a Randy’s return. The countdown ends and the crowd goes silent as they wait impatiently for Randy’s music to hit. The Judgment day starts laughing as they realize no one’s coming as Rhea rushes towards the cage door.
“Priest is catching in.” She says and the crowd immediately goes wild at that.
“It seems like…Damian will be catching in his briefcase!” Michael Cole exclaims as the ref rushes over to the announcer to tell her.
The Judgment Day starts laughing but it automatically drops as they hear Randy’s theme song hit. Everyone in the crowd cheers and goes crazy as JD look towards the ramp where Randy is coming down with a smirk on his face.
Cody watches with a relief smile as he makes eye contact with his team, “We can end this…” he nods slowly as everyone watches Randy get towards the cage and walk up the stairs but suddenly stops and stares at Rhea.
Y/n Y/l/n theme song hits the arena and almost immediately, the crowd stands up with their phones out and cheering. They have been waiting for her arrival ever since she was taken out due to an injury Rhea herself had given her. Rumors were going around about how she wouldn’t return for awhile because of how bad those injuries were.
But here she is. Walking out and to the arena as she soaks in the excitement that the fans are letting loosing as they raise their phones to record her moment.
Randy nods slowly and looks at Rhea who has wide eyes as she stares at Y/n whose eyes immediately catches her, revenge soaking them.
Jey and Sami look at each other with wide eyes before looking over at their friend who walks down the ramp with a slow threatening pace as she keeps her eyes targeted on Rhea who backs up and towards her members.
Randy gets down from the stairs and holds his hand out to Y/n who takes it and helps herself up the stairs of the ring before slowly getting in with Randy who slams the cage door shut and the match has started.
“The War-Games Match has officially started!” The announcer announces and the bell rings.
Y/n grabs a kendo stick and immediately starts hitting Rhea with it, attacking her and making sure she feels what she felt all those months ago.
The war games is getting heated as everyone gets someone and the crowd is going crazy as they watch the match unfold before their eyes with cheers, loving the moment going on.
“Get them between the ropes! Go go go!” Randy orders their team.
Y/n drags Rhea by her hair as she throws her in between the ropes positing her under her arm as she waits for everyone else to get in position. Jey and Sami get in front of her and looked at her shock.
“Heyyy…” Y/n waves at them before Randy nods at them and in unison, they all hit a rope ddt.
Sami and Jey go through the ropes and towards y/n who gives them a big smile, “What are you doing here? I thought you were injured?” Sami frowns.
“Fight now, talk later.” Y/n pats them both on their chest before jumping at Rhea to take her down.
The match moves on quicker and better than before. Cody’s team having the upper hand and keeping it until the end of the match. Rhea was the last one standing as she looks around to see her fellow judgment day members on the ground, too focused on their pain.
“Get up!” She shouts at them, demanding them. “Get up! Get up!”
Cody, Seth, Sami, Jey, and Randy all circle around her. Y/n slowly creeping up behind her.
“You can’t hit me.” Rhea smirks.
“You right…” Jey nods, “She can though.”
Rhea turns around and is immediately stricked with y/n’s finisher and she pins Rhea down, catching the win for the team.

Family dinners are important. This one was one of the most important dinners. I was with my family. I had my best friend. I had my brothers. But most importantly, I had my man.
“Keeping everything from y’all was so damn hard. I tell y’all everything. Y’all are my family. But as usual, I had to come save y’all!” Athena laughed. “Athena, that pop you got was insane! It doesn’t come through like that on all the YouTube videos I watched.” Roman laughed. “Cuz I’m HER. I tried to tell y’all. Solo was the only one who believed me. Thanks baby boy.” Athena nodded in his direction. “We’re gonna continue this at my place so Kimmy can go home. I’ve got a fridge full of food that needs to be eaten.” Athena spoke, gathering up her family. Athena hugged her friend and they made the short walk back to her house. “This is cute. What are you bringing to the States?” Jimmy spoke as he flopped down in a chair. “None of the furniture, some of the art, and of course my clothes.” Athena laughed, sitting on Jey’s lap. “We need to talk about this ring gear.” Jey grumbled, rubbing her hip. “We’re on it, Uce. Like she said…she’s been on this for a while. She’s got some fire red & black fits coming.” Roman reassured Jey. “You gone be finished packing by tomorrow night? We don’t have enough space for all this on the plane.” Roman looked around at all the stuff that was already packed.
“DHL is coming in the morning for a pickup. I’m only taking clothes and these prints that Jey wants. If y’all see something you want, grab it.” Athena laughed, kissing Jey’s forehead. “Which way is the kitchen? All this sake has made me hungry.” Roman grumbled, chugging a bottle of water. “Balance.” They both laughed. He followed her to the kitchen. “I have a little bit of everything. Been doing a ton of entertaining once people found out I was back but leaving again.” She laughed. “What’s an American living in Japan’s snack selection look like?” He walked over to the fridge, putting his arm around her shoulder. He took a deep breath, her flowery fragrance filling his nostrils. Her warmth made his heart thump hard in his chest. “I love you.” he mumbled against her ear. “Yeah, I know.” Athena spoke, grabbing a container of ice cream from the freezer. “That’s all you gone say?” he grumbled. “Yeah, that’s all there is to say. I do love you, I really do but not in the way you want. Are we clear?” Athena commanded, handing him a spoon and hopping on the kitchen counter, he joined her. “Claro Mami.” he laughed, sticking his spoon into the ice cream.
“You not worried about them together? Doesn’t he get handsy when he drinks?” Jimmy rolled his eyes. “Nah, my shawty can handle herself and she can handle drunk Joe.” Jey grumbled. He didn’t think he had to worry about his cousin after his girl anymore, but the kitchen had grown suspiciously quiet. Jey crept to the kitchen to see them sitting on the counter with 2 spoons and a container of green tea boba ice cream. “Y’all in here eating ice cream without me?” Jey almost yelled excitedly. “Yo shh! The more people that know about it, the more I have to share.” Roman laughed. “Dawg, did you know she made ice cream? Like your girl made this and it’s so good!” Roman grumbled. Athena passed Jey her spoon and hopped off the counter. She kissed his cheek and left the room, Jey’s eyes followed her. “So my favorite cousin’s in love? You couldn’t have picked a better woman. I’m happy for y’all Uce.” Roman sighed. “But you still want her for yourself? And you’re telling me that I better treat her right cuz you’ll be waiting?” Jey rumbled. “I mean, you better treat her right. Nah Uce, I’m chillin.” Roman laughed.
There are times when I miss Japan so much. I miss the chaos of Shibuya. I miss the peace of Mt. Fuji and the cherry blossoms in the spring. Do I regret leaving? Absolutely not.
“Are you nervous?” Roman asked Athena as they did a walk through of their segment for her first Smackdown as a competitor. “Man a little. Introducing myself as a wrestler is going to be like starting from the bottom. These fans don’t know me!” Athena groaned. “Don’t worry, you’re a natural. They’re going to love you. You’ve got the moves. You’ve got the ring presence and your swagger matches mine!” He laughed. “Thanks Ro. I have to keep up with your arrogant ass!” Athena laughed, she looked at her watch. “Aww! Do you miss him?” Roman teased. “They were supposed to be here like 40 minutes ago.” Athena was starting to worry. “I’m sure they’re fine baby…Athena….I’m sure they’re fine.” Roman stammered. “Ooh. Look who Freudian slipped. Careful big guy, people will think you’ve got a crush on me.” Athena laughed. “I mean…they wouldn’t be wrong.” He spoke leaning in close to her. “Oh I know. I know.” Athena laughed, feeling his warm breath dance across her skin. Roman was about to grab her waist, when his phone rang. “Saved by the bell.” He laughed, showing Jey’s face on his phone.
“What can I say? He’s my hero.” Athena laughed as Roman answered on speakerphone. “Yo, Athena is worried sick! Where are y’all?” Roman spoke, flopping down in the center of the ring, Athena did the same. “We were coming down to head over there, then we got stuck in the damn elevator with zero cell service. I've been trying to call & text my girl for an hour! Is she with you?” Jey grumbled, none of his messages had gone through until now. Athena’s phone pinged and vibrated as all of Jey’s texts finally came through. “Baby, are y’all ok?’ Athena asked. “Yeah, we good ma. You down in the ring? We’ll be there in a few minutes.” Jey spoke before ending the call. “Last chance to have me all to yourself.” Roman laughed and winked. “You wish.” Athena laughed. “Sometimes I do wish. And I don’t know if that feeling will ever go away. You’re just so dope, how could any man NOT fall in love with you? But I can be satisfied with this dynamic we have. I really love you and Jey together. Y’all balance each other out.” Roman smiled widely. “Thank you.” she smiled.
Roman spotted Jey at the top of the ramp. “Your man’s here!” He teased as her face lit up. Jimmy was with him but no Solo. “Where’s the big baby?” Athena laughed. “He ain’t no baby! He’s 30 with a wife and kids!” Jimmy laughed. “So?! This isn’t the first time he’s gotten stuck in an elevator so in this case…he’s a baby! And he’s probably traumatized! He don’t like it.” Athena groaned, remembering the time they got stuck in an elevator in Tacoma and was late to the show. Jimmy was about to head to the back when Solo walked through the curtain. “There he go!” Jey spoke as he climbed into the ring. “Sef…you good?” Athena yelled to Solo, he flashed a thumbs up. Jey planted a few quick kisses on Athena’s lips. They hadn’t gone public with their relationship, so they had to keep things under wraps for now. “Now that we’re all here…let’s get to work!” Athena laughed. The Bloodline’s objective for the week was getting their newest member ready for her first WWE in-ring action.
Trying to get the WWE Universe to see me as anything other than Roman’s sassy assistant was the hardest part. I’m so much more than a pretty face and razor sharp tongue. I came to compete with these women. The footage isn’t hard to find. High tide raises all ships or whatever the saying is.
While Athena cut a promo with her family behind her, Rhea came to challenge her to a match. “Betcha aren’t so tough with a kendo stick in your hand.” Rhea scoffed from the ring apron, the Judgment Day backing her up. “Rhea…you’re so right. *Athena walks up to her* I’m tougher! Why not step into the ring and test your theory.” Athena growled at Rhea. “Don’t you have to ask your Tribal Chief?” Damian Priest spoke down to Athena across the ropes. “Priest, this is her world, I’m just livin in it.” Roman laughed into the mic from the corner of the ring. He watched like a proud father. “I’ll see you soon, newbie.” Rhea waved as the Judgment Day left the ring. During their time at the performance center, they pitched this matchup. Rhea was excited about Athena hitting her with her own move, the Riptide. They had been texting about it all week.
