Valko, big bad wolf chairman extraordinaire, is currently hiding behind the couch like a complete idiot.
“Babe,” he whispers, ears flat against his head. “Tell me he’s gone.”
You’re trying so hard not to laugh. On the coffee table sits a completely normal, very tiny house spider that had the audacity to exist in the same room as your 6’2” wolf boyfriend.
“He’s still there, babe.”
Valko lets out the most pathetic whine you’ve ever heard, tail tucked between his legs. “I fought three massive wanderers today. Three. Why is this tiny asshole scarier than them?”
You finally lose it, laugh bursting out. “You can bench press me with one arm but a spider the size of a coin has you hiding? Really?”
“I don’t like surprises with too many legs, okay?!” he hisses, peeking over the couch with wide eyes. The second the spider moves an inch he ducks back down like it’s about to launch an attack against him.
You wipe tears from your eyes, walk over, and gently escort the tiny spider outside with a piece of paper while your big strong boyfriend watches from behind the couch like a traumatised puppy.
When you come back he immediately scoops you up, burying his face in your neck with a dramatic sigh of relief.
“My hero,” he mumbles, tail finally starting to wag again. “Never tell anyone about this.”
Just so y'all know, I literally write the AM reports from my bed. I woke up maybe 20 minutes ago LOL but the fight for Valko continues. NEVER BACK DOWN, NEVER WHAT?

Hello, thanks to Valko’s introduction on Love And Deepspace, here’s what I’ve learned about wolves in Chinese culture.
The wolf is associated with values of protection, loyalty, and courage. It is said to protect the spiritual realm and convey important divine messages to us. There is also a well-known celestial wolf that represents the star Sirius and guarded the celestial palace: the Big Dipper.
It’s actually the brightest star in the sky!
Here’s an excerpt from what I found online: “Belonging to the constellation Canis Major (it is located on its neck), Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky. In China, this star is called ‘the Celestial Wolf’ (T’ien-lang). In Chinese mythology, the residence of the supreme ruler (the god-emperor Shang-ti)—a palace situated high in the sky—must be guarded by a fierce beast with piercing eyes. This beast amuses itself by flinging intruders into the air and then pushing them into an abyss. Only the souls of warriors who have died heroically in battle can reach the palace—hence its extraordinary radiance, visible from Earth only at night. The Milky Way is the trail left by the Celestial Wolf’s passage.”
I’m a huge fan of mythology, and if we could have Ao Yin/Valko back in the game, I’m sure we’d learn more about this celestial guardian 🙏🏻.

"You're really happy huh?" you observe, eyes tracking his tail as it wags from left to right.
"You smell so nice this morning," Valko answers. His voice is soft but it's deliciously deep and gravelly from sleep. You shiver at the sound.
"Only this morning?"
"You know that's not what I meant." He huffs, before rolling over and hovering above you. You're pinned down, completely at his mercy, but you've never been more relaxed. There's a lazy smile on your face and it matches his own wild, silly grin.
He leans in, dropping all his weight on you. He buries his head in the crook of your neck and his tail wraps around your waist like a blanket. Your actual blanket is on the floor somewhere.
Valko breathes you in and his heart soars. You smell perfect. Like sunlight warming up a spring meadow. Like pancakes he's forgotten to flip, loaded with cinammon and chocolate chips.
"You smell so happy, baby."
"Mhm." You pull him closer. It's the first time you've woken up together in weeks. "And why do you think that is?" you murmur, turning your face to press soft kisses on the inches of skin you can reach.
"I missed you," you sigh, "but you're here now."
"Yeah pup, I'm here now. I'll always come back for you."
valko had always been a busy man, everyone in eoncore tech knew that — you knew that. sometimes your bedtime schedule is his business schedule, although you missed him, there's nothing different when you sleep with a cold side of the bed.
but just like any busy man, they deserve a well-deserved rest. and valko’s definition of that is when he gets to cuddle up with you, wrapping his protective arms lovingly at the swollen dwelling space of your unborn child, chuckling lowly upon feeling the small thump of reaction they gave.
warm. he loves the warmth, your warmth — the only refugee he'd succumb to.
and your scent — sweet, like open savannas — reminds him that he has you in his life. it was a satisfying and comforting combination, and like magic, it never fails to lull him into a deep peaceful slumber.
an hour or two has passed. no, scratch that. it was already late at night as per indicated on the blaring neon light of the digital clock when valko stirs awake, a low groan reverberating from his throat.
he reaches for your side of the bed to snuggle you close only to feel the empty space. valko groans your name as he opens his eyes. you’re not there, yet he could still smell and sense you nearby.
he didn't panic — you were in a safe place with him after all — just sat up from sleep and walked out of your shared room. he found himself walking through the quiet hallways of his place as he followed the trail of your scent until it led him to…the kitchen?
there you were, your back facing him as you tiptoe around the kitchen aisle like a quiet mouse, humming a familiar tune as you busied yourself with something on the marbled island. valko shook his head, an amused grin plastered on his lips. without further ado, he made his way towards you, wrapping his arms around your frame that startled you. “there you are.”
“who—you scared me!”
“mhm. my scaredy little wolf,” you felt him chuckle against your shoulder as he nuzzled in the warmth of your neck. “cravings couldn't wait till morning?”
the sheepish grin on your face was enough as an answer for him. “hungry baby wanted something to eat.” you bite your lip as you confessed, nose scrunching like you'd just caught red-handed.
what a cute wife he has.
valko smiles, a soft and rare one that he only reserves for you alone, “then why didn't you wake me up? don’t you want my help?” you couldn't see him but you could feel him pout against you like a dejected puppy.
“and ruin your well-deserved rest? no, thank you.”
valko sighs once more as he shifts slightly. his protective embrace tightened, letting the comfort of his warmth seeps through the fluffy cotton sweater he sports. “you're more important than anyone or anything, you know that.” he murmurs.
he just stays there, watching fondly as you continue your culinary mastery of mixing whatever you find in the fridge, offering help here and there as he guides you with the “heavy duty” he always says until you finish by putting it in the oven with a small huff.
“now…we wait for 20 minutes.” your voice came out quiet and low, more likely disappointed for waiting that long.
the small pout creasing on your lips elicited a low chuckle from your husband beside you. “how about we do something for 20 minutes while we wait to ease the baby’s hunger?”
his words made you beam, delighted by the idea forming in your mind. with an energetic smile, you spread your arms at him while standing on your tiptoes, an attempt to match his much (much) taller frame. “cuddle with my husband, please?” your sudden clinginess made valko chuckle, shaking his head amusingly.
“weeell, i was expecting something else–”
your finger hushed him. and with a small huff and giggle you stand on your tiptoes as you cling on to his shoulder, pulling him close until the warmth of your breaths mingled against each other. “ah-ah no refusal. the baby says so too.”
valko can't help but sigh contentedly — a sweet sign of compliance. after all, he could not resist his hungry and clingy wife. he lifts you up, carefully, as he always did before pressing your foreheads together. “alright. but no more sneaking away this time, okay?”
“promise.” your voice came out sweet, silent, a kiss in the wind yet audible before sealing the deal with a chaste kiss on his lips.

valko's first time watching fireworks doesn't exactly go according to plan...

you absolutely adored fireworks! the colors, the atmosphere, the food that came along with it… it was one of your favorite times of the year.
so naturally, when you started dating valko, you invited him to a celebration to watch fireworks. he’d told you that his pack didn’t celebrate many holidays, and that he’d never been to something like that.
valko was having a great time at first, eating hot dog after hot dog and burger after burger. he was acclimatizing well!
you saved the two of you a nice spot on the top of a hill, perfectly set up so you can see the fireworks display. you were laying on a blanket covering the grass, head in valko’s lap as he played with your hair.
“you’re gonna love it, valko! there’s always a firework for everyone. me personally, i really like the ones that have like 20 little pops and they go tssss.” you ramble, looking up into valko’s eager eyes.
he looked as excited as you felt, and you were sure if his tail was out it’d be wagging.
“will they hit us?” he asks out of curiosity more than fear.
you shake your head. “ash sometimes hits you, but only if you’re close-”
you’re interrupted by a ‘fwoop’ of a firework shooting into the air, followed quickly by a loud bang!
you turn and look at the sky as bright shades of reds and purples streak across the abyss.
valko’s hand tightened in your hair at the boom, but you just assumed it was because he was caught off guard. it wasn’t until they set off two more fireworks thag you started to worry.
valko flinched at every boom, his thighs beneath your head quivering and shaking like a leaf in a tornado.
you frowned and sat up, turning to look at him. “whats wrong? hey, oh gosh, it’s okay-”
your poor boyfriend was covering his ears and shaking all over, his eyes wide and full of terror. you’d never seen him look scared! not even when you fought a hoard of wanderers or when he almost choked on a chicken wing.
you were about to reach out and hold his face when they set off a bigger firework than before, the boom twice as loud as the previous ones. poor valko jumped up and ran away, much like scooby-doo in the cartoons, his feet moving but his position not changing.
you jumped up and chased after him, but damn your hour of daily cardio stood no chance against a werewolf in fight-or-flight.
you called out for him and searched for valko for 15 minutes before you found him cowering and whimpering in fear under a small bridge in the park you were at.
“valko!” you crouched down in front of him and pressed your hands on top of his, muffling the bangs and booms even more. “it’s okay, they’re not gonna hurt you- shit, i’m sorry, i forgot about your hearing sensitivity.”
valko whimpered and leaned his forehead against your chest, trying to hide. his body was trembling against yours.
a few minutes pass and he seems to have calmed down a bit, the noise muffled enough for him to relax. valko pulls his head away from you and looks over your shoulder at the fireworks lighting up the sky.
he flinches every time one explodes, but he still watches for you.
by the end of the firework display, he’s calmed down enough that he’s smiling. but that wasn't enough for you.
“valko, i am so so sorry, i’m a terrible partner, i didn’t even think about the noise-” you hug him, scratching his head.
valko hums at the sensation and nuzzles your neck. the sudden lack of noise makes the air sound like it’s buzzing to him, the only other noise being people chatting quietly as they walk to their cars.
“hey, it’s okay, i didn’t think about it either. i should've known it would be loud when i saw kids with headphones.” he pulls back and smiles at you, a hint of a smirk on his lips. “can we get me some of those for next year?”
you gawk at him. “next year? you seriously want to come back?”
valko nods and leans back against a supporting beam of the bridge, pulling you into his lap. “of course, you love them. and i kinda ruined your experience this year… i’ll make it up to you next year.”
you scoff. “‘ko, if anything I ruined your experience. i could've planned better, we could've watched them from the car miles away, i could’ve gotten you headphone, i could have-”
“shhhh, enough. there’s no point in ‘would’ve could've should’ves’, it’s over with. i had a good time.” he comforts you. “and you were right, there is a firework for everyone.”
you finally smile at that, the anxiety seeping out of you slowly. maybe, despite it all, valko actually did have a good time. “oh yeah? which one did you like?”
“i liked the ones that went up like…” he mimics it with his hand, dragging his fingers up and spreading them out, before ‘exploding’ them.
you laugh and nuzzle your head into his chest. “i like those too. which colors were your favorite?”
to your surprise, valko answers quickly. “i like the yellow and blue ones.”
you raise an eyebrow and look at him like he’s crazy. “really? that’s.. an interesting combination. i didn’t even see any yellow and blue ones together.”
valko frowns. “they were all yellow and blue.”
“what? no they weren’t! there were red, orange, yellow, green, purple, blue, white, cream- how fid you only see yellow and blue?!” you ramble passionately. had valko somehow managed to only look up when they shot off yellow or blue fireworks?
uh, why was he looking at you like that? valko’s lips were quivering as he held back from laughing.
you growl lowly, annoyed, and flick his fuzzy ears that had popped out sometime in the whole ordeal. “what’s so funny, fuzzball?”
valko finally breaks, laughing in your face. “you’re forgetting a very important detail, sweetheart.” he points to one of his eyes.
your heart sinks and your face flushes with embarrassment. “you’re colorblind- oh my gosh, valko!” you smack his shoulder. “why the hell would you let me drag you to something that is too loud for you and not even pretty! uggghhh this was a waste of your time, i’m sorry.”
valko pulls you against him and laughs. “this wasn’t a waste of my time, you were so happy for those first few fireworks!”
“but you can’t even see what they’re supposed to look like.” you murmur against his chest, feeling deflated. this entire night had gone to shit, and you felt like a terrible partner for not considering his limitations.
valko shook his head. “i see the entire world that way- i see you that way. is that a waste?”
you grumble out a halfhearted ‘no’.
he smiles and pats your head. “see? then it wasn’t a waste. next year, we’ll have an even better time. maybe i’ll get some colorblind glasses to wear with my headphones!”
