A tender wip for Valentine's Day đ
Guess who finally, after YEARS, made a Sebastian romance?
Madeleine Hawke - Red/Blue Hawke
Warrior - Sword and Shield
Romance: Sebastian (Hell yeah)
Madeleine is a focused and serious woman, the kind that makes you think at least four times before approaching her in a bar with some mediocre pickup line. But don't be fooled by her rigid demeanor: when you get to know her better, you discover that she can even be quite fun.
The years she spent in Kirkwall were intense and dark, marked by a succession of losses that slowly seeped into her body and mind. Watching her family disappear, one by one, left deep scars⊠invisible scars that time refused to erase. Yet, almost improbably, it was in that damn choirboy that she found refuge, a safe haven amidst the chaos, silent, steadfast, where her pain could finally rest for a few moments.
Madeleine had never imagined herself as a viscountess, much less as the wife of the Prince of Starkhaven, but there she was, living a reality she had never dared to dream of. Her duties as ruler bore little resemblance to the simple life in Lothering, when she helped her father tend the pigs on the farm, her hands dirty with soil and her mind free of protocols. It all had a fairytale quality⊠if it were possible to ignore the suffocating politics, the endless paperwork, and the constant line of citizens carrying problems that demanded immediate solutions.

"Have you never dreamed of me?"
"Before I was sealed away, I did dream of you."
The flower petals have carried you into this dragon's dreams.
Then this dragon will wait every night longing for the wind and petals to arrive.

This had such an insane ugly phase I had to stop working on it for a month
Just For Me
Since no one asked for more banter, I made even more!
Enjoy. Or donât, Iâm not a cop.
~
Neve: Youâre keeping Solasâs dagger?
Rook: Why, do you want it?
Neve: Absolutely not. Not after seeing what it can do.
Rook: I donât love it either, but whatever it takes, right?
Neve: Right. But if you start glowing and moving rocks like Harding, make sure itâs not in my direction.
Rook: Yeah, thatâs fair.
~
Lucanis: You donât make requests for dinner as often as some of the others.
Rook: Iâm not picky. Iâll eat whatever you put in front of me - unless itâs pickles. Or asparagus.
Lucanis: You donât like asparagus?
Rook: I keep trying to like it, but donât.
Lucanis: I sautĂ©ed some asparagus with dinner two nights ago and you ate it. Why didnât you say anything?
Rook: Couldnât exactly afford to be picky when I was a slave.
Lucanis: Iâll use broccoli instead next time.
Rook: Donât worry about it, everyone else liked it.
Lucanis: Youâre allowed to have choices, Rook.
Rook: Thanks, IâŠThanks.
~
Davrin: Your old name means âyoung halla.â
Rook: Itâs a family name. My mother liked it.
Davrin: The Dalish typically give that name to the healers.
Rook: Mustâve missed the memo.
Davrin: Donât sell yourself short. Killing blighted monstrosities is healing in its own sort of way.
Rook: Is that what you tell yourself?
Davrin: That and I like hunting and killing the damn things.
~
Davrin: Have you been sneaking treats to Assan again?
Rook: Are you gonna be mad at me if I say yes?
Davrin: Yes.
Rook: Then no.
~
Emmrich: Youâre truly not bothered by spirits?
Rook: Iâm Rivaini, the Lords are used to spirits hanging around.
Emmrich: They really do have the most fascinating stories.
Rook: Theyâre fun too. One time, we were in the ruins of this old castle and the treasure was sealed behind a solid stone wall. We got a spirit of chaos to break down the whole thing.
Emmrich: How practical for chaos!
Rook: Well, turns out it was a load-bearing wall and the whole thing started to come down. He seemed happy, though.
Emmrich: Yes, I imagine he would be.
~
Harding: Iâm doing dinner tonight. Any requests?
Rook: Harding, youâre my friend and I care about you so much. My only request is for someone else to be doing dinner tonight.
~
Harding: So I bought some new arrows.
Rook: Ooh, the exploding ones?
Harding: Yup! Wanna blow stuff up later?
Rook: Yes!
~
Bellara: How did you meet Varric Tethras?
Rook: He and Harding were looking for Solas and got stuck with me along the way. I gotâŠvolunteered to help him after I killed a noble who double-crossed us.
Bellara: Thatâs still amazing, though! He mustâve had so many stories to tell! Did he ever share his writing process? Or what about his inspiration for Swords and Shields?
Rook: Usually, getting him to stop talking was the hard part.
~
Taash: A couple Lords are getting drinks at The Hilt later. You in?
Rook: Will Bharv be there?
Taash: I dunno. Maybe.
Rook: He better be. He still owes me ten gold.
Taash: Wicked Grace?
Rook: Pet-sitting, actually. I cleaned bird crap off of everything for three days.
Taash: He has a bird?
Rook: His name is Finnegan. Heâs an asshole.
Had my meeting with my advisors. It was, indeed, very depressing. So I finished this to force out a trickle of serotonin in my brain.
It's not a cure, but it certainly helps.
PS yes, it's quite blurry, sorry about that. I literally just drew it in one long strip and didn't think about the consequences.

A little art collab with @snarkspawn because if we shared that braincell once on accident, we might as well do it again but this time planned! Check her version with lovely Nazeeh here~
Closeups under the cut âš
Lucanis and rook watching a sunset in Treviso. I wanted to capture something softer, reflecting the quieter romance while still acknowledging the bit of mutual pining present in a Rookanis relationship.
