Introduction

Hi! I’m a femme dyke zine maker. I’ve been posting zines under the same name on Tiktok and Instagram for a little while. Considering the general state of the internet, I thought I’d come back to Tumblr to continue sharing some of my zines. Welcome!

Many of my zines are available completely free as downloadable printables on my ko-fi—no donations/tips required or expected. If you’re feeling generous, consider donating to local mutual aid or the Lesbian Herstory Archives.

★ Goth Femme : Reflections on counter culture by @vampfemmezines

I've been seeing VampFemme's zines for a while and I finally took the time to read this one! I didn't really know much about the Goth culture before reading, and I thought it was so well written, the way the culture is described is easy to understand, you feel the zine maker’s deep love for it while reminding some of the flaws it also includes. The intersection between Goth culture and being a femme lesbian was so so interesting to read about! It definitely makes me want to know more about Goth culture! There's also a really cool playlist included!

★ Before Nonbinary : a nondefinitive history zine by Cosmo Crouch

This amazing zine talks about some figures in history who lived beyond the gender binary. Queer history is extremely important in a society that always tries to erase us, and especially towards trans and non binary people, making us feel like it's a "weird mania" and not ways of beings that have been around for centuries. Cosmo's zine is so necessary and precious, very easy and interesting to read, and is opening a door to know more about people that history tried to erase.

I fell in love with Véronique's zines and wanted to share every single one of them! I love their series Moonbow, mini zines that include thoughts, moments, and Véronique's favourites like zines or music. I absolutely adore this kind of content, it's like your friend is sharing with you their reflections and cool things to discover! I also love their two zines about zines haha How to share your zines without social media and zines > screens which are so interesting and as someone who is learning how to take time away from screens and social media, I think they are very cool and necessary!

★ Some zines by Loveless Press

I discovered this really cool zine press through the Long Arm Stapler podcast when Lain, the founder, talked about Loveless Press and their experience with zine making. I read 3 of their zines so far and I can say that Lain is one of my favourite zine makers. Their zines talk about many different topics in the most interesting ways. I didn't know much about the Gyaru subculture when I started reading A Gal's World. I loved every page of it, visually very beautiful and taught me so much! I also read A Web Worth Wandering about the indie web, which feels more and more necessary in the current state of the world and therefore the internet. The last one I want to talk about is From Me to You which is now one of my all-time favourite zines, talking about the art of mailing and writing letters, things I LOVE so much, in a funny way that really makes you want to start writing letters again!

This zine is just a little journal documenting my attempts to read more lesbian poetry. While I love poetry and have read a lot by various queer artists, I really hadn’t made a concerted effort to read specifically lesbian poetry until this year. This first volume ended up being mostly writers I was already familiar with (I had already read Chrystos and Mary Oliver collections, and had read individual poems or essays by the rest) but I’m hoping to find new authors next.

This was supposed to be published in April for national poetry month but it turns out describing poetry is really hard, so my apologies if I didn’t quite get it right.

Like many of my zines this is available as a free printable on my ko-fi.

Spent the afternoon getting these zines from @vampfemmezines print, cut, folded, and into my collection/library. Haven't gotten to read all of them yet but the ones I did read I really loved! If you've got color printing you're in for a treat!

For whatever reason I was having trouble printing these out with Firefox but I switched to Chromium (degoogled Chrome) and it did just fine.

A deeply unserious and very quick 16 page zine of lesbian vanity plate ideas, inspired by the hours spent driving back and forth to Philadelphia

This is a little perzine about being closeted in the workplace while teaching queer students, something that's been on my mind a lot recently. It's sort of a meditation on visibility, responsibility, and solidarity in the current climate. Like many of my other zines, it is available as a free printable on my ko-fi

There was a formatting error in my High Femme Holy Day zine that I just fixed—let’s print and fold a new one together!

Using this pretty lavender paper makes it look like the vintage zines I remember from the archives🖤

This little minor event has been weighing on my thoughts recently, thought l'd make a zine to process and move on! "High femme holy day" has been so memed and removed from context I thought it'd be worth revisiting the sweet and funny scene and talking about why valentine's day is so special to myself and many other femme4butches.

While this zine takes the jumping off point of someone saying something I disagree with, this isn't really a call out. l've blacked out in front of a crowd on a microphone and said some dumb shit too. But I said it in the zine and I'll say it again: there is no high femme holy holiday without butches

Let’s print and fold one of my free zine printables, 30 Zine Ideas for Lesbian Zine Makers.

Tools used: pdf, paper, printer&ink, cutting matt, craft blade, bone folder

Steps:

Download the PDF on ko-fi for free and print the zine. The zine is entirely in black and white, but you can easily change up the look and feel of the zine by printing on colorful paper!

Fold the zine into eight rectangles (once long-ways, then twice short-ways.) I’m using a bone-folder in the video, which is a tool used to get crisp folds in your paper.

Unfold the paper to lay flat and trim along the center line, but only along the middle two folds. I’m using a craft blade in the video, but scissors will also work.

Fold the zine: Fold in half long-ways, then push the ends together. Find the cover page and make sure it is on the outside.

Voila! Finished 8 page zine
