So I (@grossinnit) am hosting a Romione themed masquerade fest!
Masquerades are fests that operate in two parts, a writing period and a guessing period. Writing period is when authors write fics within the theme of the masquerade and submit them to the collection. Reveals of the fics will be carried out anonymously, you will not know the author of any revealed fic. This is followed by guessing, where participants match fics to their authors. Guessing is usually a chaotic time; it’s chaos, anxiety inducing, and really really fun!
People need not take part in both parts. While most people write and then guess, you need not submit guesses if you write, and there is no prerequisite of submitting a fic to participate in guessing. But if you have the time, please try and do both - the experience is something else entirely.
This particular masquerade is a little different. We have made available the option to request prompts! You are not bound to fulfil a prompt, and you can even fulfil your own request. You can request prompts and just ignore them, and other prompts, altogether. More about prompting and fulfilling in rules later.

This is a Romione (Ron/Hermione) themed masquerade. Works must center the couple.
No minimum word count, but 1000 words is the cap. It’s not too strict, but don’t go too much over.
All formats of works are accepted. Fics, poems, art (pls include some fic text with the art), etc etc.
All ratings are accepted, from G to E (gore, filthy smut, yada yada).
For the sake of welcoming a broader audience, dead dove topics like rape, incest, bestiality, cannibalism, pedophilia cannot be the main theme of your fic. The fic may feature the aftermath of such incidents, but cannot be a description of them. If your story is crack-y and you want to employ darker themes in your humor, you may do so, but please let me know.
You can use unorthodox tagging methods to throw guessers off your scent, but keep in mind that your tags mustn’t be misleading or downright lying. All major warnings must be mentioned.
Sign ups: You can fill out prompts by signing up to the challenge on AO3 and requesting a prompt. This added angle is purely to cause more mayhem. You need not request prompts. But if may be more fun if you do.
You can request as many prompts as you want. You don't have to request any.
You can claim and fulfil any prompt, including your own, anonymously.
For writers not fulfilling a claim, they can submit works by clicking on the “Post New” button on their AO3 profiles and selecting the “Romione_Masquerade_2026” in the “Add to collection/challenge:” section that pops up when posting a new work.
Submission forms and guessing forms will be rolled out soon. Fill out the submission form when you’re done submitting a work.
Guessing form will be released when guessing opens.
This is the basic structure of the fest, more announcements about rules and guidelines will be made at the start of each new period (writing, fic reveals, guessing, author reveals/awards).
The fest isn't bound to a single discord server! But if you're interested in joining the HPRomione or the Wooly Bladders discords to banter and have fun, DM!
