A possible reason why is because focusing on white queerness is more comfortable to them. Surrogacy is so fucking evil and I hate how wokies try and act like it’s a miracle that they can exploit a woman’s body so they could have a kid while there are millions of children in foster care or orphanages that need to be adopted.

They either don’t get how life threatening child birth is or they simply don’t care.

Labour is called labour for a reason.

I really wish people would stop bringing foster kids into this. The core problem is that people feel like it is their birth right to become a parent by any means necessary and you don't fix that by challenging their entitlement to exploit women's bodies through surrogacy by going "and you see, there are actually other ways of Obtaining A Child".

Foster children are human beings who need someone to take care of them. They are not a supply to meet a childless couple's demand. The majority of foster children already have parents who can take care of them but are temporarily unable to. In the US, children exiting foster care because of reunification with their parents or primary caretakers outnumber those exiting through adoption, guardianship or emancipation combined. If you go to prison because you committed a minor crime in order to make some money so you could feed your kids, to whom you are otherwise an amazing parent, your kids will be placed in the exact same system as kids whose parents brutally abused them. I was in foster care and my mom's only crime was being sick without a support system (you can't take your kids into the hospital room with you). My foster parents TRIED TO ADOPT ME while I already had a mother. And that's actually far from uncommon because sentiments like OP's make people think that foster children are just a supply of unwanted kids ready to be picked up by anyone who really wants to be a parent. There's also not millions of foster kids in the system, unless you're talking about the global numbers, and I hope I don't have to explain why taking kids out of their own country just so you can be a parent is a bad idea (and actually no longer legal in a lot of countries, because of how badly that's gone wrong). In the US it's closer to 600 thousand anually, but a lot of those kids pass through the system, and again, most of them are not actually up for adoption. My shortest placement was only three months (from being home, to being in foster care for three months, to being home again). I can't actually find statistics on how common it is for children to be placed into foster care for reasons other than abuse and neglect (like a parent getting sick or going to prison for reasons unrelated to their parenting) but when people argue that reunification should not be the main goal of foster care, they are doing so from a perspective that people who have abused their children do not deserve to be their parent. Again focusing on who is and isn't entitled to "have" a child, rather than the wellbeing of the child in question.

The evidence is pretty clear that in the majority of cases, children who were removed from their homes would have been better off staying. Which is not something a person who is thinking about adopting a child and considering adopting a 10 year old whose parents' rights were already terminated can affect, but it is something you, as a person who is writing a tumblr post about the ethical problems with Means Of Obtaining Children, can take into account next time you talk about the subject.

the chances of a child in foster care being adopted are near zero. Babies in foster care have astronomically better chances. Most kids in fostercare will age out of the system or will go back to their birth families.

and adoption is not a end all be all either. Every adopter i know (i know many) is abusive at BEST.

At the same time, when compared to giving birth to biological children-- fostering and adopting is going to be superior 10/10 times. Adopting and fostering at least has the potential to be ethical.

Adoption isn’t by any means perfect, but it can be an opportunity to give a great life to a child who is parentless if the child is adopted by someone with the right intentions and right attitude about parenting.

Renting a woman’s body never has an opportunity to be anything other than dehumanising.

I just saw a libfem say of radfems, “How can you call yourselves feminists when you refer to women as females?” Her point clearly being that females is a dehumanizing term. Gee, if only there was a word for females that also encompassed personhood—a word for females who are specifically of the human race, for example.
