|| desc: after taking some time to heal, you think back to your friendship with dream... if you could call it that.

the world became clearer. your hearing was back, along with your vision. you began to sit up, but a spike of pain from your abdomen had stopped you. you peered down, seeing bandages covered in small specs of dried blood. you blinked a bit, your eyes having not yet adjusted to the fluorescent lights. ‘where am i? what is this place?’ your mind felt foggy. all you could remember was a sharp pain in your abdomen and then black.
“good, you’re awake.” you turned your head to the soft voice. it was bbh. why was bad here, in whatever this place was.
“where-“ bad cut you off by handing you a healing pot and some strength pots.
“skeppy and i’s house. sorry this had to be the first time you got to see it.” he smiled sadly at you. you slowly drank each pot, feeling a bit more like you.
“what happened? why am i here?” you couldn’t stop the endless questions, wanting some sort of answer.
“uhm.... dream sort of... stabbed you.” bad winced. just like that, everything came flooding back. l’manburg, the sword fight.... dream. tears rushed to your eyes unexpectedly. bad wiped your tears away, feeling awful for what dream had put you through. you smiled sadly at him.
“i... i really didn’t think he’d do it.” you stuttered. bad looked at you sadly, he patted your head softly and left, knowing you’d probably want to be alone. you were lost in thought. absolutely bewildered by the fact that your so called best friend, had actually managed to hurt you.
“uhm... knock knock.” you turned your head to see tommy, tubbo, and some other person you had not seen around the smp. you smiled sadly at them.
“i’m sorry about the green bitch.” tommy tried to make light of the situation, which had worked a bit. you let out a laugh, a small ‘told you bringing me along was a good idea,’ coming from tommy.
“uh, i know this isn’t the best time to introduce you to new people but this is ranboo!” tubbo pulled the stranger out from behind him, his green and red eyes flashing with nerves.
“i’m [y/n], i’m sorry you had to meet me like this.” you nervously laughed. ranboo shook your hand softly, afraid to hurt you.
“it’s always a good time to meet new friends, sorry about dream.” ranboo frowned. you shook it off and just continued to talk to the boys. time flew by, visitor after visitor. it was finally night time. bad had come back to check on you and deliver more pots to aid you with your healing. you were so grateful for bad and skeppy for allowing you to stay and heal inside their home. you noted to yourself that you needed to come up with some sort of way to pay them back. your eyes grew droopy, and it felt like you could no longer keep them awake anymore. you began to fall asleep.
dream had been pacing back and forth all day. he had tossed his sword in some random corner in his room. just the sight of it made him sick, it having still been stained with your blood. his sword was almost tainted, preventing him from even wanting to touch it. sapnap and george would peer in from time to time, only to see dream in the same spot or pacing.
“come on man, you couldn’t have known that was going to happen.” sapnap tried to comfort dream, placing a hand on his shoulder. dream was unresponsive, just staring blankly at his hard wood floor.
“i shouldn’t have done it, i was angry. for fucks sake, they’re my best friend... and i hurt them. i almost killed them.” dream mumbled, to who, he didn’t know. sapnap sighed and handed dream a bowl of mushroom stew.
“you need to eat something, you haven’t eaten anything since you last saw [y/n].” george stood in the doorway, arms crossed, his brows knitted in a worried expression.
“how am i supposed to eat when my best friend could potentially be on their death bed because of me?” dream had finally looked up from the spot he had been glaring at, his tears evident. his eyes were bloodshot and puffy. he didn’t even feel like he had been crying. he hadn’t slept, ate, or even left the house since his little showdown with you. it was eating him up inside, the fact he could potentially lose you all because he couldn’t control his anger. dream tossed the bowl of mushroom stew to the floor.
“well, let me go get the broom and mop.... again.” george huffed. sapnap sighed and left the room, knowing there was no way he could get through to dream. dream cried into his hands for what seemed like forever, until he passed out.
the sun beamed brightly through the milky white curtains. you began to stir awake, feeling the morning sun begin to hit your face. you stretched out your limbs, a tiny twinge of pain coming from your abdomen, but you ignored it. you hopped out of bed and made your way to the kitchen, where you found skeppy, bad boy halo, and another new face.
“oh! hello, you must be [y/n]!” the woman perked up at you. you smiled and waved.
“that’s me, and i apologize but i don’t quite know who you are.” you smiled awkwardly. there were so many new faces, it almost felt like you had been out for a long time.
“i’m captain puffy, but you can always just call me puffy.” she smiled at you. she had a mother like aura to her, it made you feel comforted and almost nostalgic.
“i’m sorry you had to meet me in this condition.” you frowned. you had grown a new habit to always apologizing. you couldn’t help but feel like this was your fault, the position you were in.
“hey, it’s not your fault.” puffy smiled sadly at you, grabbing her things and hugging you softly, before leaving. bad had just woken up, skeppy already downstairs making some breakfast.
“how’d you sleep last night?” skeppy asked while whipping up some eggs.
“like i was in heaven.” you sighed dreamily, to add some dramatics. bad snorted at your response and skeppy let out a chuckle.
“it’s nice to see you so lively. you were out for quite a bit.” bad quickly clapped his hands over his mouth, skeppy’s hand slapping his forehead in annoyance.
“h-how long was i out?” you gulped. surely it couldn’t have been that long.
“a-almost two months...” bad winced. you suddenly had lost your appetite. you walked back up the stairs, hearing skeppy scold bad for telling you. you couldn’t believe you had been out that long. you slugged back into bed and fell asleep.
dream had awoken from his previous breakdown. he decided that he would go and visit you today. he knew he didn’t deserve to but he couldn’t let himself sit here and wonder if you were okay or just barely hanging on. he packed all his essentials and headed out. dream could barely make it to the front door, having been stopped by sapnap and george once again.
“where do you think you’re going?” george quirked his brow at the taller man. was he serious? dream could easily pummel these two and just leave, the only thing stopping him was his lack of energy.
“you can’t keep me locked in here. i need to see if they’re okay.” he shoved passed both of the smaller boys and headed for the badlands.
you had woken up once again from your slumber, but to a knock at your door. you yawned and rubbed your eyes sluggishly.
“come in.” you yawned, stretching a bit. in walked bad. he sat down on the edge of your bed, holding a plate of breakfast for you. he looked so guilty.
“i’m sorry. we weren’t originally gonna tell you because we didn’t want you to freak out.” bad hung his head low. you patted his head in a loving manner like he had did to you prior.
“it’s okay! i was gonna find out sooner or later, better sooner.” you smiled softly at bbh, making him perk up and beam back at you. you giggled and offered him a hug. he gladly returned the offer and hugged you softly, careful to not hurt you. he got up from the bed and left the room. you sat in silence eating breakfast, and thinking about dream. you couldn’t stop reflecting on every single memory. you wanted so badly to know when things suddenly went wrong. suddenly, you could hear yelling from downstairs. you were curious and left your room to see what the commotion was.
“their my best friend! i want to know if they’re okay.” it was dream. what the hell was dream doing here? you were sat at the top of the stairs, in an angle were no one could see you. you continued to listen in.
“best friend or not, i could care less. i think it’s better if you just leave them alone for a bit. you were the one who put them in this state.” bad scolded him. you winced. as much as you wanted to stand up for dream, bad was right. you nervously played with the hem of your shirt.
“you think i wanted to do it? they were speaking to the ones who hurt us! the ones who betrayed us!” dream sounded like he was growing angrier and angrier. you decided to step in.
“you wouldn’t have done it if you would’ve just stopped to listen.” you mumbled, coming down from your spot on the stairs. dream gawked at you, visibly becoming happy that you were okay. it was quickly wiped away when he saw your emotions change from sad to hurt.
“i’m sorry, i should’ve given you time to talk. i just, i was angry. it doesn’t justify what i put you through, but still. i should’ve heard you out instead of jumping to harm you.” dream sniffled. whether he was looking for pity or not, you couldn’t tell.
“dream. for the longest time i’ve suggested for us to make amends with the rest of the smp. everytime i bring it up, you shut me down. you get angry and defensive, insistent on the idea that they were the ones who hurt us, when really we were the ones who hurt them, we forced them away from everyone else.” you sighed. you felt like a huge weight had been taken off your shoulders.
“i don’t want to be feared anymore. i’m so tired of having to fight these stupid wars just because you want to stay in power.” dream couldn’t believe what he was hearing. here he thought you loved how everyone was afraid of you both. you both were the gods of the smp.
“i don’t understand. you know where being vulnerable gets you. i’ve taught you it’s better to be feared than be walked all over.” dream’s voice got softer and softer. he just didn’t want to believe what he was hearing.
“i don’t care dream! i really couldn’t care less, i just want it to stop.” you laughed sadly. dream nodded.
“alright. please, just... tell me you know i didn’t mean for any of this to happen. i just want to show you that no matter how bad of a best friend i am, i still care deeply about you.” he looked at you sadly, hoping you’d give him the answer he wanted.
“i know dream.” you opened your arms for him. dream took that as a sign of forgiveness and quickly hugged you, but not tight enough to hurt you. you were so glad it was all going to be over soon.
“let’s go apologize to others, i guess.” dream huffed. you giggled and playfully punches his arm. you thanked bad and skeppy for helping you and promised to return the favor. you left, everything feeling brighter than before.
