Lily Bellerose arrested on drug charges post-Vanity investor dinner
Though the video of Vanessa Ivy introducing Marion Bellerose’s long lost daughter Lily Mackenzie Bellerose to the Vanity investors ended in Lily collapsing, most people were too focused on her surprise parentage to question the abrupt end of the video. After all, perhaps she too was surprised by the announcement of who her mother was, or at least surprised that it came out so suddenly. A fainting spell may be a bit Victorian, but it’s not unheard of.
It did not help that the Vanity team was completely silent on the matter of both Lily’s surprise relation to the late designer as well as her condition following the private investor dinner. We were left with dozens of questions and only speculation.
The silence was lifted at Vanity’s press conference last week, where Vanessa Ivy announced that the apple sadly didn’t fall too far from the tree. Not only was Lily’s collapse attributed to an overdose, but following medical treatment Lily Mackenzie Bellerose was arrested on drug charges and has been in jail awaiting a bail hearing ever since.
Ivy was understandably distressed by the whirlwind of information. “I took Lily under my wing based on her talents, and was initially thrilled to discover that Marion’s legacy would live on,” Ivy told reporters. “We soon became like sisters, but this recent discovery has thrown all of that away.”
Addiction is often cited as a genetic disease, passed between parents and children. One might have hoped that with Lily being away from her mother throughout her childhood, she could have missed this particular inheritance. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case.
Lily could have been a lasting representation of Marion’s creative genius, the sole person who could genuinely carry on the Bellerose fashion legacy. Now the only legacy she’ll carry on is the dark side of her mother, buried within herself.
The bail hearing is set for this week, but due to the highly-publicized nature of this event, reporters have been barred from entering the courthouse. Should there be any further developments, you’ll find them here.
Until then, we all must deal with the disappointment of a promising future lost.
