Sir still didn’t sit well with the original, it felt as if it was something that should’ve been left in the past but he had to play his role and so accepting such terms came with it. “Vicki correct…-I’m perfectly well if be it a little exhausted but I have few complaints.”
“yeah, vicki.” she responded with a small chuckle. “it seems everyone’s getting tired these days. there must be something in the air.” a light joke to hopefully make the situation slightly less awkward. “well, i’m glad you’re doing well.”
“Hey Vicki,” The brunette greeted, wide, signature grin framing her face, as she sat down on one of her bar stools. “Can I get my usual?” Which was coffee - black, of course. She needed to wake up and fast, which meant coffee was the way to go. “How are you?”
“hi bonnie.” vicki returned the girl’s smile, albeit a much smaller one, she wasn’t the type to be grinning these days. “yeah, sure.” she set to making the coffee, glancing behind to look at her as the question reached her ears. “oh, y’know, the usual stuff. just busy with work among other things.”
A quaint little town, of course the original certainly remembered it much differently and it certainly was evident that much had changed considering a thousand years ago it was nothing more than a village which he along with his siblings and a few other mortals, shared with werewolves…-some would call it living in peace and perhaps it was funny how little peace there was between the species now.
But here it was, white picket fence and small town naive folk who knew no better, Elijah worried for them even if he had only been here a month teaching English at the High School.
He’d found his place outside the Grill, even in leaning against the wall the original seemed as uptight and well presented as ever; it was certainly something he was proud of or at least happy to maintain. His ears caught the footsteps of another, which in turn caused a light breath to pass his lips in hopes that they wouldn’t ask too much.
“Hello, how are things?” he questioned, almost too politely.
vicki was on her way to the grill, lost in thought as she dreaded the day of work ahead of her. on most days she didn’t mind going from table to table, it had become a routine and she needed the money, but today was just one of those days in which she didn’t want to leave her bed. seeing her friends there helped, but she wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone who was going to bring up plans about parties or whatever it was that they felt like inviting her along to.
it was even weirder when she arrived and saw her english teacher standing in front of the grill, looking like he came straight out of a movie. with a brow raised at his small talk, vicki let out a small chuckle. “i’m okay --- sir?” she felt a little strange talking to a teacher. “how are you?”
The female remembered the call all too well, how in being told that she now had the responsibility to take care of her niece and nephew made her wish that there was someone else and when there wasn’t she simply found herself terrified, turning from a grad-school weed smoker, into a real estate agent with two people she now had to take over…-the transition was still hard to grasp but here she was, attempting to cope in the only way she could.
Taking a seat on a nearby bench, she’d let out an inaudible sigh before she turned to whoever had joined her and offered a small smile.
“Hard day too…or is that just me?”
“isn’t there always a hard day?” vicki responded with the smallest of smiles, glancing over to jenna. the woman had always been good to her, ever since she was a little girl who sometimes joined matt when he went over to play at elena’s. whenever it was that vicki felt awkward for being the odd one out, it seemed jenna was there to the rescue whenever she was visiting her sister’s family and spotted a shy young girl watching her brother from afar.
vicki had always enjoyed their conversations from over the years, and seeing the new life thrust upon the other, she reckoned it wouldn’t be so easy to adapt.
A calculated breath past his lips as he lit the cigarette, allowing for a moment to pass before before he gave a planned smile offering the stranger a spare cigarette; if he wished to know more about this town, then getting to know the way the people ticked seemed like the perfect plan.
“You want one?…-” his words seemed warm, of course he’d made them so in order to present himself as a friendly face even when he was far from being one. “Alek by the way…-it’s nice to meet you.”
it seemed that an abundance of fresh faces had made their way to mystic falls recently, which only confused vicki, considering the animal attacks. the small town was hardly a tourist destination, so it was pretty weird to see all the unfamiliar people waltzing through the streets like they’d known them for years.
“huh? oh, yeah, if you’re offering. thanks.” vicki sent a slight smile to the stranger, taking the cigarette from him as she used her spare hand to remove her lighter from her pocket. quickly lighting it up, vicki took a pull before replying, “i’m vicki, it’s nice to meet you too.”
hi i'm louise and i'll be bringing the local angry abandoned drug user to this party ;)
◤ · ˚ . ✦ . ˚ · { KAYA SCODELARIO } i just saw VICKI DONOVAN at the mystic grill today. the FEMALE is currently 18. though the HUMAN is known for being PERCEPTIVE, CANDID, FERVID. rumor has it that they have a tendency to be RECALCITRANT, STUBBORN, CAPRICIOUS. and i swear, every time i hear HELP I’M ALIVE by METRIC i think of them. one thing a lot of people don’t know about them is that EVEN THOUGH SHE’S PUT UP A HARD FRONT THAT BARELY ANYONE HAS BROKEN THROUGH, VICKI IS ON THE VERGE OF A MELTDOWN. WITH THE ABSENCE OF HER PARENTS AND THE PRESSURE OF TRYING TO BE A GOOD SISTER TO MATT, SHE CAN’T HANDLE THE STRESS THAT COMES FROM IT ALL. TURNING TO DRUGS AND ALCOHOL HAS ONLY MADE THINGS WORSE, BUT SHE CAN’T STOP HERSELF FROM FEELING A BUZZ JUST TO MOMENTARILY FORGET THE HARDSHIPS OF HER LIFE THAT SEEMS TO BE GOING NOWHERE.
okay so like most of you i haven't seen tvd in ages because i was traumatized from the s8 finale and to made me emotional too so i was like lmao this bitch needs a Break. but honestly ??? i love this show sm despite it all and i'm super excited to write vicki !! i'm gonna start rewatching again just to jog my memory tho!
tbh....... a lot of people hate vicki and the way the show treated her just made me want to cry?? like i'm gonna keep all the aspects of her life ( poor child ) but the way she said certain things and how she was almost there just to be used for extra drama had me like no vicki is worth more than this!!
my girl is human, very troubled and damaged, but she's trying to maintain herself as best she can. she hasn't wholly given up and i think matt is essentially the main reason she won't let herself truly go. he's literally her world, she never usually vocalizes it and makes it known because she's a tough nut to crack, but if anyone ever touched a hair on his head, she'd be out to get them. overprotective big sis?? aw yeah!!
vicki knows what other people think of her. that she's some kind of filthy trash from the wrong side of the tracks that won't succeed in life. with matt, it's different, he's the golden boy who managed to turn his situation into some sort of drive to achieve a better life. vicki just let it consume her and she can barely lift her head above water. she almost believes what other people think of her, because she's so heartbroken with the idea that she'll never leave mystic falls and just wind up working at the grill for the rest of her life.
she doesn't want that, she wants to actually be something and improve herself, to strive for something better. but the defeat and negativity in her life just weighs her down. she comes home and it's empty, her parents are no where to be found, and that's just enough to make her want to give up. she's strong, because she's come so far, but she doesn't know if she can continue waging a war with herself. she knows the drugs and alcohol are terrible for her and that she's only lighting the spark to turn her life to mere ashes, but that buzz gives her a much needed escape.
i would like to make many changes to vicki's arc and the way she acts towards people + her actual future but i feel that can only work through plotting so please hmu i'd love to talk to you all !! <3
