It’s been 2 weeks (Note: She probably means since the previous release/her previous fancafe post) and the 2nd pre-release song is out!!
It’s a duet with Oh Hyuk this time.
The track for this song was the first that was ready out of all the songs on the album! The track was prepared by composer Lee Jong Hoon, who has been working with me since my debut track, Mia, as well as NSLOCB, Leon, Twenty-three and other songs. I roughly wrote the chorus lyrics and then Oh Hyuk came to mind.
R&B is not our specialty, but rather than approaching it from the genre, we felt that focusing on the message and the scene more during the whole process would result in a more interesting song hehe We thought of a particular scenario and then made each other immerse in the scene and come up with all the lines we could think of from that perspective. In that way, we added in some acting too hehehe
The lyrics themselves contain the whole scene, so we thought it wasn’t a must to shoot an MV and didn’t shoot one (but we filmed something else instead..)
We’re same-aged peers and both rather stubborn, so we kept quarrelling, but it was a song we had fun working on!
‘Through the Night’ has more public appeal and is a more friendly song, while 'Can’t Love You Anymore’, like what I said in my previous fancafe post, is more experimental! I was slightly worried whether my fans would accept it since they may not used to this R&B track (although it’s not strictly traditional R&B either) and the lyrics were written at one go without filtering, so I thought it might be a bit strange to release this as the second pre-release track after Through the Night.
Based on the texts I received from friends, those who messaged me saying they liked Through the Night didn’t message me this time and those who didn’t contact me then messaged me this time saying they like Can’t Love You Anymore keke
Actually, I think of these two songs as two extreme personalities out of the songs on this album! But if you think the rest of the songs have similar personalities, then you’re mistaken ^-^☆
Anyway, internally, we felt that Through the Night is stronger in its public appeal, so let’s be more experimental with Can’t Love You Anymore! But my fans took to it better than expected and said they could relate to the lyrics, so I’m glad and gratefulㅠㅜ…!! You guys must have a lot of dating experience..^-*
Alright then, the two songs have been released.

There are two candidates for the title song, but I’m still swinging back and forth between them…. Did you guys listen to MelOn radio? Genuine IU dad goes on radio keke Between the two songs that I let my father Lee Jin Gook listen to, I still haven’t made up my mind ^^.. Ah.. In the morning, I think this one is better, in the afternoon I think that one is better and in the evening, I think this one is better indeed.. uh it’s difficult to choose. Just which song will turn out to be the title song on IU’s 4th full album..? Although it’s urgent, to be undecided between the songs, this shows that there are many good songs..Heh☆
